The disappearance and death of Jackie and Thomas Hawks, a beloved couple, shook the entire country. They were living out their retirement on board their 55-foot Lien Hwa trawler, Well Deserved. The couple had worked on the yacht, which was kept in dry storage for four years as evidence after the 2002 murders. The sons of Jackie and Tom Hawks claim that although Henderson was not on the yacht when Tom and Jackie were murdered, she played a critical part.
A Southern California man, Skylar Deleon, was found guilty of murdering Tom and Jackie Hawks and Jon Jarvi. The Hawks son, Ryan, called the verdict “heavy.” The yacht was kept in dry storage and plastic wrap for four years as evidence. Now that the criminal cases are over, the yacht has been returned to Ryan and Matt Hawks, who are now fixing it up at the Newport Beach Basin Marina.
The Hawks’ dream was rooted in two simple things: being together and having a successful seafaring career. The Well Deserved, a 55-foot Lien Hwa trawler, was one of the most famous yachts in Newport Beach since The Wild Goose, actor John Wayne’s character. The couple’s car, a silver Honda CR-V, was nowhere to be found.
The Well Deserved is now up for sale since their murderers have been brought to justice. The couple’s boat, Well Deserved, was released earlier this year to Ryan and Matt Hawks, after sitting in a city shipyard for the past four years.
