Small ADVs are common spawns and can still be fought outside plexes. However, it is important to note that many frigate fights do not last 60 seconds, and 10 seconds of invulnerability is massively OP against T1Navy ships. As a new player, it is recommended to stick with T1Faction frigates before jumping into assault frigs. In Low Sec faction warfare space, Novice plexes only allow T1Faction frigs inside. If you can fly gallente ships, the Tristan and Navy Comet are the best bet.
Assault Frigates are an advanced class of combat frigate designed around firepower and survivability. They utilize redundant systems and reinforced alloys to improve their survivability, making them capable fighters in the small hull arena. Vengeance can perform any L2 and most L3 missions without problem and is great for small deadspace actions. Faction frigs and Destroyers can beat T2 frigs in 1v1 situations.
Tech 3 destroyers are not in the same competition or league as other ships (T1 destroyers and Assault frigates) that can enter small FW complexes. T2 assault frigates (AFs) can enter Small plexes and combine the agility of a frigate with higher DPS and much stronger tanks when fitted. However, they do not get into a novice plex and only fit into small plexes and above.
Small, small-sized Plex only allows T1, T2, and faction frigates but will show up as anomalies when using your ship’s scanner plexes.
