Studio cabins are becoming increasingly popular among cruise lines, with Norwegian and Royal Caribbean being the most common. These smaller, single-occupancy cabins are designed to provide enough space for a single guest to live in during their cruise. Some of the most popular lines include American Cruise Lines, which offers river and coastal cruise ships with single occupancy cabins, including singles with balconies.
In contrast, Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway have 59 studio cabins, while Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy, and Norwegian Encore each have 82 studio units. Three of Norwegian Cruise Lines’ four ships now offer solo cabins ranging from 178 to 183 square feet in size: Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria (nine). Royal Caribbean boasts the most single cruise cabins of any line, with about half of its fleet housing at least two.
Super Studio cabins are 100 square feet in size, offering passengers a dedicated studio lounge where they can mingle with other passengers. More than half of the Costas fleet has anywhere between six to 21 solo cabins, both interiors and ocean views.
Some of the best solo cruise cabins include Virgin Voyages Solo Insider and Solo Sea View cabins, Royal Caribbean’s studio cabins, Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway, Pride of America, Azura, Arcadia, Aurora, Britannia, Oriana, and Ventura. Silversea Cruises does not have cabins just for solo travelers, but the ultra-luxury all-suite line caters to them.
By booking a studio stateroom, guests have access to exclusive amenities, such as the Studio Lounge.
