Where Is Good Snorkeling Near Hilo Hawaii?

Richardson Ocean Park, located 5 miles east of Hilo, is a popular spot for snorkeling and swimming due to its black and green sand. The park offers tide pools, calm water, and a picnic area. Coconut Island (Moku Ola) on the east side of the island is also a great place to explore.

Although Hilo is known for its abundance of waterfalls and nature trails, there are many other beaches close by on the Big Island. The Kohala Coast, north of Kailua-Kona, is also an ideal spot for snorkeling in November. There are also several other popular snorkeling spots on Big Island Hawaii, such as Manta Ray Night Snorkel, Kealakekua-Bay, Honaunau-Bay, Honaunau Bay, Mauna-Kea, Mauna Kea, Kahaluʻu Beach Park, White Sands (LaAloa) Beach Park, and Richardson.

Kahaluʻu Beach Park is famous for its Honu or sea turtles, while Kealakekua Bay is known for its beautiful cliffs and excellent underwater scenery. Some of the best snorkeling spots in Kona and Hilo include Kealakekua Bay, Kahaluʻu Beach Park, and Carlsmith Beach Park.
