Can You Take A Lighter On A Cruise?

Cruise ships generally allow matches and cigarette lighters onboard, presumably for use in designated areas for smoking. However, torch lighters and novelty lighters that look like guns are not allowed onboard. Torch lighters emit a powerful concentrated flame, making them illegal. Most cruise lines allow smokers to bring matches or normal lighters.

To maintain a safe and secure environment for all guests and crew, Disney Cruise Line has a zero-weapons policy. Matches and normal lighteners are allowed onboard, but torch lighters and novelty lighters that look like guns are not allowed. Torch lighters emit a powerful concentrated flame, and therefore, are prohibited.

Real common lighters are allowed in carry-on bags on flights, but torch lighters are banned both in carry-on and checked luggage. Guests are required to be 21 years of age (on embarkation day) to travel on their own. Guests can bring a 10-15 lighter to light a couple cigars with one, but they cannot be in carry-on bags.

Cruise lines generally allow matches and cigarette lighters on ships, presumably for use in designated areas for smoking. However, items with heating elements like coffee makers or matchbooks are generally okay for onboard use. Matchbooks and basic lighters are generally okay for onboard use, but novelty lighters, personal-torches, fireworks, flares, and pyrotechnics are considered too.

Flamable liquids and explosives, including lighter fluid and fireworks, are not allowed onboard.
