  • I once had a scammer call and guy said he worked for “Amazon” I lead him in for awhile and then I finally asked him Hey man, do you like scamming people? He responded with “no I hate it but I need money to support my family, I wish I had a different job” It made me feel so bad I told him that I wish him the best and hopes he can find a different job

  • The amount of bravery this took was INSANE. These people all had their lives in danger, but still decided to go through with the recovery for the sake of busting bad scammers. True respect Strong widget! If the FBI was half as dedicated and ingenious (and honest) as you guys are, the USA would be a much safer country. Amazing work!..

  • What we are taught to do is: ask their name, ask the name of the company they are calling from, and tell them that you are going to call them. So if it’s a bank that you know, you call and ask to speak to that person. That way you’ll know they actually work there and are calling from where they say they’re calling. Also never give out pins, passwords, credit card safe number, etc.

  • I live in UK, I received a call saying I have overdue taxes to pay immediately or get sent to court. It was my first job and I haven’t even done taxes before so I believed it at first. They rang from a government number, London as well and it was the same number mentioned on GOV website. But, went he went to ask my bank details, something told me this is not right. I said I’m not gonna give you my bank details. He went on to convince me and tried hard. The harder he tried the more resistance I had. At the end he said ok you will hear from the court very soon. And this is years later, haven’t heard anything. And why is it always Indians!! Turns out it’s a business there are scam call centres all over there just for this purpose. Please be aware everyone and tell specially your young family members and old ones, cause these will believe it as these criminals are getting better and better at it.😢

  • I have a buddy’s who’s dad is an investigator with the US government. He said one day his dad got a call like this and with seconds already started a trace on the call, it turned out the call was coming from Bombey India. He was able to contact somebody with the Indian government and gave them the location of the scammer. They got the entire building full of phone scammers.

  • I love these kind of things. Whenever scammers call me, I also try to keep them on the phone so they have less time left to call someone who could actually fall into their traps. Try to keep them talking as long as you can, do not hang up, as every minute you keep them occupied, they cannot call an elderly or otherwise vulnerable person who may not see through these scams.

  • Oh my god!! I got the same call once and it scared me to death, as they said my ID is being used for illegal things. They even asked me to book a cab and go to nearest bank and with draw all the amount and deposit it in a box in the location which they said. So that the amount can be considered as genuine.

  • My favourite thing anyone has ever done to these guys – One of my friends got a call from them when we were hanging out, finally got to a real person. When they asked him to “verify his social security number” (which is hilarious cause we’re Canadian) my friend asked the guy which one. After a long pause the scammer was like “I’m sorry?” My friend then said “Well im committing fraud in a couple different countries so you’re going to need to tell me which social security number I need to verify. You should have it there?” We all DIED laughing.

  • Used to have a friend who’s mom got called by a scammer like this; they threatened to arrest her and said they’d be on the way, and she thought she was going to go to jail. Funny how they didn’t take time to consider why the police would CALL you first when they’re gonna arrest you lmao they don’t give you a notification

  • I’m a retired federal police officer and I do the same thing when they call me. I love to act afraid and ignorant to gather information from them then I tell them who I am and after they hang up on me I forward the information to the FBI. Never give out your personal I formation! If they have a legitimate warrant you will know it as law enforcement will come to your home or work, not call to ask you for information.

  • The best are the YouTube articles where the “scammed” guys are actually computer / network experts who turn the tables on scammers by taking over the scammers computers making their computers useless. OMG! And to hear the scammers panic when they discover the tables have been turned and the scammers have become the scammed is a beautiful thing to hear!

  • I remember when a scammer called my mom’s phone during supper. My stepdad was the closest so he answered – and the strange thing was, they ended up asking for him*. On my *mom’s phone, when our phone plan is also under her name. So that was weird. However, before they asked for my stepdad, he actually answered with; “(name of restaurant) Bar & Grill, how can I help you?” “I’m looking for (insert stepdad’s name here). Is he available?” “Nah. He don’t work here no more.” hangs up And my stepdad spoke in a very bored, whiny teenager voice too LMAO We all burst into laughter afterwards XD Another time was when I was in middle school, when my volleyball team and I where heading home after a game. One of us got a scam call, so we all banded together to make as much annoying, loud noises as possible while she pretended to be unable to hear them. Fun times, haha!

  • Unfortunately stuff like this never gets to the people that need it the most, like the elderly. But it is nice that most stores put caps on gift cards people buy and that some banks are trying to help catch fraud if things seem suspicious. I’ll be so happy when disgusting scammers aren’t ripping people off like that anymore.

  • I just hate that these losers can’t be brought to justice!!! All they have to do is put the phone down to get out of the situation and move on to the next victim! I wish there was some sort of reality tv where they trace and catch these scammers and we can watch them getting send to jail. NOW THAT WLD BE SATISFYING TO WATCH

  • This article is priceless! Lol! I’ve gotten them too! I just Hang up! First, they don’t know my name, which tells me that they’re connected to a Scam! I visited my aunt and they call her on the Regular! While I was there, one called twice! The second time they changed the name of the fake senior program.
