When Do New Kayak Models Come Out?

This article provides a comprehensive guide on the best time to buy a kayak, focusing on seasonal trends and notable sales periods. The Coosa X is Jackson’s premier river and small-water fishing kayak, and the best time to buy a kayak is at the end of the kayaking season or offseason, typically during late August and early September. Perception Kayaks, for over 40 years, have been at the forefront of the kayaking industry, introducing more people to the sport.

New fishing kayaks and alternatives were featured at ICAST 2022 in the New Products Showcase. The first quarter of 2022 has seen a notable uptick in kayak purchases, especially in recreational fishing. As of the beginning of 2020, there are over 200 different models spread among nearly 30 different brands in the U.S. New kayak models come out in the spring, matching the time when paddlesports, outdoors, and big box stores begin to display summer stock.

Buying late in the year can be challenging, as manufacturers introduce new kayak models roughly every 12 to 36 months. If buying from a local dealer, the best time is at the end of the season. Keep an eye open at the beginning of the season for demo days.

With all the different models available today, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to fishing kayaks. At the ICAST 2023 show, everything from power to propulsion was being introduced. Don’t miss any new videos from Nelo Kayaks, featuring new models announcements, tutorials, interviews, and more.
