These seasons include a wool jumper, warm socks, a thick scarf, winter boots, warm, waterproof pants and jacket, a hat, and gloves. Does it get cold at night on a cruise?

Don’t Forget to Bring a Sweater While you’re cruising to a Caribbean island, you might not think you will get chilly, but it can get downright cold on the open water at night. Restaurants and the casino can also be a bit chilly, and you’ll want a lightweight sweater or pashmina to keep you warm.

In my recent12 Things to Know Before Your First Cruisearticle, I mentioned that one of the most frequently asked questions I hear about preparing for a cruise is: “What do I wear?” While my answer was simplified in the interest of brevityforthat article, I want to delve a little deeper in today’s vacation planning post, which is sponsored by Carnival. I’ll not only tell you everything you need to wear, butwhat to pack for a cruisein general. I’m a big time planner and I have found that a well-packed suitcase makes for a much more enjoyable cruise vacation!

Before you begin packing for your cruise, take a look at the itinerary on the cruise line’s website. Where are you going? What shore excursions have you booked? Do you plan on dining in the formal dining room, or only hitting the casual buffet each night?

For most cruises, you’ll want to bring at least one formal outfit for “formal night.” For women, this can mean anything from a nice dress to a ball gown. Men will want to wear a collared, button up shirt and tie with trousers and dress shoes. On Carnival cruises, ties aren’t required, but many men choose to wear them, as well as sport coats, on Cruise Elegant Dining nights. While men can wear a suit or tuxedo, it is not a requirement on most cruise lines. Think “Sunday Best” at the very least.

What is the best month to cruise in Norway?

The cruise season in Norway is between June and August, but many prefer to go in late spring and early summer to beat the crowds and enjoy the long days exploring fjords and discovering wildlife including polar bears and walruses. The sun shines for 24 hours a day during the summer months in northern Norway and the ice has melted, making for exciting opportunities to spot animals during the evenings at places that can’t be reached during the rest of the year.

Norway cruises that visit Svalbard travel through an archipelago that is often referred to at the wildlife capital of the artic. Excursions that visit here are polar adventures as the region is located between mainland Norway and the North Pole.

The fjords of Northern Norway have their own highlights, including a chance to see the Northern Lights. Far off fishing villages, hikes on glaciers in snowshoes, and discovering the Norse history through ancient artifacts make these trips once a lifetime experience.

Can you see the Northern Lights on a Norwegian fjords cruise?

Yes – you can view the Northern Lights on one of our Norwegian cruises, however we can’t guarantee their appearance! The aurora borealis is near impossible to predict, but sightings are more likely on clear nights between October and March, and odds increase the further north you travel.

A Northern Lights cruise on Cunard offers you an unparalleled way to explore Norway’s dreamlike fjords, with the added possibility of witnessing the spectacular enigma of the aurora borealis – nature’s most spellbinding phenomenon.

Journey into the Arctic Circle. By day, you’ll visit some of Norway’s most enchanting coastal towns, discovering the region’s rich culture and scenery. While at night the prospect of the Northern Lights is enough to tempt you from your stateroom into the crisp, still, darkness beyond.

Few towns are located in as magnificent surroundings as Narvik. With mountains and fjords, as far as the eye can see, a trip on Narvik’s cable car offers stunning views, 650 metres above sea level.

Which side of a cruise ship is best for Norwegian?

Starboard Strategically. On the other hand, the starboard side may be better for the north cruises. This positioning enables passengers to be among the first to witness Norway’s breathtaking fjords and mountains. Sailing through the Trollfjord, which has towering cliffs on the starboard side, could be particularly advantageous.

Consider Your Itinerary. To make a well-informed decision, have a look at your cruise schedule. The first cruises took northern to southern directions, and the second took the south to north direction. The choice between port and starboard greatly determines your enjoyment based on the particular fjord and ports you will be visiting. Make sure to research the planned route of your cruise and then choose the appropriate cabin.

Panoramic Suites and Balconies. Consider a panoramic suite or a cabin with a private balcony for the perfect Norwegian cruise. These premium rooms offer uninterrupted vistas and enable you to absorb Norway’s splendor from your space’s convenience. The experience is further enhanced by having a private outdoor area, especially during scenic cruising and sailing through narrow fjords.

Is the sea rough in the Norwegian fjords cruise?

The sea conditions in the Norwegian Fjords can vary depending on several factors, including the time of year, weather, and the specific location of the fjord. Generally speaking, the sea in the fjords is relatively calm, but it can also become rough, especially during periods of bad weather or strong winds.

During the summer months, the Norwegian Fjords often have calm and tranquil waters, making them popular destinations for cruising and boating.

However, even during the summer, the weather can change quickly, and it’s not uncommon for the sea conditions to become rough if a storm rolls in.

In the winter months, the Norwegian Fjords can experience more turbulent seas due to winter storms and colder temperatures. The combination of wind, waves, and icy conditions can make the sea rougher and less predictable.

Is it cold on a fjords cruise?

It can be cold and rainy on the outer deck and ashore. If you are very cold-hardy, it might also be good to have a hat and mittens. In general, it is warm inside the ship. Perhaps even warmer than air-conditioned ships in the Caribbean – there can be a big difference between the temperature outside and inside.

It absolutely varies by ship. Some ships have well insulated solariums that stay warm in cold temperatures, and I’ve experienced others that are too cold to use. A lot also depends on outside door placements, since ships with lots of automatic doors opening to outdoor spaces will be letting in more cooler air.

For example: Even comparing within the same cruiseline, Voyager of the Seas has a lot of spaces that are too cold for comfort in cooler climates, while Vision of the Seas is very comfortable on Northern European itineraries.

That said, I do think that Hurtigruten’s typical interior temperature runs a bit colder than the norm for the US and UK cruiselines.
