Singapore Passport Holders generally do not need a visa to enter Vietnam and can stay up to 30 days per entry. However, the approval for entry into Vietnam is ultimately at the assessment and discretion of the Vietnam Immigration authorities. The new visa policy effective from 15th August 2023 extends stay duration for 13 countries, enjoying unilateral visa exemption from 15 days to 45 days, regardless of passport type and entry purpose.

A Vietnam E-visa is typically valid for a single entry into the country and allows for a stay of up to 30 days. However, some nationalities may be eligible for longer stay durations.
To obtain a Vietnam visa, Singaporeans must meet the following basic requirements: a valid passport, at least six months from the date of arrival, and a minimum stay of 30 days in Vietnam for tourism purposes. Singaporean nationals are exempt from obtaining a visa for stays up to 30 days, but they must meet certain conditions for this visa.
As of 2024, citizens of 25 countries can travel to Vietnam without having to apply for a visa. To enter Vietnam, only a valid passport is required.

You have solved my issue after 48 agonizing hours of worrying why my payment would not go through. In the final parts of the process i.e. payment, you highlighted you have to push “continue” twice. Hey presto!!!! this time success. I did learn through this process that if a payment is cancelled or refused, for whatever reason, then you have to start again with a new application
If you like visa stickers in your passport, get a visa on arrival. With an e-visa all you get are some stamps. You could mention that the picture you provide of yourself w/ a white background, you can’t be wearing glasses or a hat. I’m sure the website says that, but people may not read those requirements. To ensure your passport main info page is clear, get it scanned on a flatbed scanner. Go to a photocopy/print shop if you need to.
I did mine today and paid for the 2 day express visa, I fly out the 2nd and should of waited to get the ticket but I was there for 4 straight years and left when covid slammed the place and no issues, thankfully. Went and took some pics at Walgreen’s today and paid my $70 lets see! But what sucks is its harder to STAY there now, I’m 39 and retired Army so I don’t want to ( teach English ) after my first 90 days if its not smooth to re apply than ill find another country!
Hi. I have my child travel with me. I know in the form, there’s a section for children under 14 years old. After I put in my kid’s name/gender/date of birth, 2 photos…do I need another separate form for my child? my child is 11 and has their own passport. Or the information included in the form for myself is sufficient. I think they should have their separate application. When I pay, I should pay $50, instead of $25? Thank you.
Hi Travis I intend on traveling to vietnam in about 2 weeks i had tried paying for my Visa but payment was denied can you please tell me what is the information i should be putting in the payment page what should i be putting in the Billing Address section i will try again but need help with pament page information please help i have followed your instructional but was denied due to not providing proper payment page information please help what i need to do for this section thankyou
Thanks so much Travis, we’ve followed your inputs and got visa granted with no issues no delays. We’ve used an app to take our photo with an ‘official’ white background. Question to you though: we didn’t see any stamp on the eVisa, besides a QR code. Is that normal ? Thanks again for the very valuable tips.
Thank you travis for that, its indeed helpful and informative. Just a quick question please My entries to Vietnam are specified on the visa to be from January to early February However the expirtation of the visa is up to june of 2024 Do I have the right to enter Vietnam only on the specified days mentioned on the visa or can i skip those entries and enter Vietnam anytime before the expiration date ?
Great article, just completed my evisa application after perusal your article. I would’ve got so confused if I hadn’t. My only worry after completing my application is that I have put my dates in correctly but the duration might be off by one day. Does that matter? Hoping they can figure it out by looking at my dates.
Fantastic article – I just have a gentle question. When traveling with three family members, does each of my three family members need their own visa ? As well (hope this is not a silly question) do I need another visa or a certain document leaving Vietnam to return home to the United States. Please and thanks.
hello thanks for the article, great help. what do you recommend, to take the flight before or after the visa request ? if I take before I can put my exact entry port and date of the trip, but the Visa can for some reasons be declined … so you recommend to request the visa before or after taking the flight ticket ?
so from what i can understand u can have a maximum stay of 90 stay with normal visa and 1 year at a time with work visa and 5 years with family visa(married) and then u have to leave the country, but i got no information on how long u have to leave? i would imagine most ppl going to thailand or other asian countries for a few days or a month until visa is renewed before going back or am i wrong ?
Thank you very much for the useful article . I plan to travel to Vietnam at the beginning of the sixth month of this year I followed the steps in the article and obtained the visa but I have some doubts because there are several sites and I entered one of them to obtain the visa . My question is how can I be sure that the visa is real and not from fake site ? Especially since there is no Vietnam embassy in my country . Thank you again
Hi Travis. I want to thank you for your help on getting my eVisa for my upcoming trip in February. I watched your very informative step by step article to apply. I applied on Dec 25th and got it back in less than 3 days…..BUT…there was a mistake. My birthdate was showing 25/12 instead of 15/12. I admit it was probably my fault as it was Dec 25th when I did it and I didn’t notice it. All the way through I checked and checked again like you advise but still missed it…UNTIL the visa arrived. Darn. At least I did it in plenty of time, like you advise to do, so I re-did it on the 29th and got it back this morning. Now I’m pretty sure it is correct. My mistake cost me $50 but no big deal. So I finally got it for $100 total. Not much more than the $75 I spent on my Tanzania eVisa in August. Now I can’t wait to arrive and explore Central and Northern Vietnam.
this visa page is complete garbage, it literally tells you the wrong info on the payment page: “FIRSTNAME MIDDLENAME LASTNAME” corresponds with your “LASTNAME FIRSTNAME MIDDLENAME” also wtf is the difference between “Contract Address” and “Permanent Address” – you just put USA and then your actual address. If Vietnam border authorities see this, please let me into your country, and I loved applying for your VISA.
Hi Travis thank you so much for that helping article, they just emailed me to edit please fill in all information in the application form. I just left the agency and Vietnamese number section I don’t know what is the issue maybe the emergency contact? I think I didn’t fill it I updated now and hopefully it comes asap as my flight is the next week
If you get the multiple entry visa, and then you renter Vietnam like 1 or 2 days before it expires, does Vietnam give you extra days like many other countries do (like Thailand gives you 30 days from whenever you enter – even if it’s the day before it expires )? Or is it a flat 90 days that expires no matter when you make your last entry?
Hey:) nice article I’m not sure about the exact date I will be going. If I make for 1st of February And arrive on 20th of February Will this still be okay ? I only plan on staying in vietnam for 30 days so I’m not worried about losing days, aslong as I get in Also does Vietnam’s expect an onwards flight booked upon arrival
Alot of people are having issues as of recent regarding the “Occupation”. In the article and through research it was said that it’s optional. However, people are getting denied and asked to “You are required to complete all the blanks” in the application form on the E-Visa and even after corrected the same message appeared again with “You are required to complete all the blanks in the application form”. I’m not sure if that’s some type of bug but it sounds very messed up. I just did my application and left some blanks, I’ll see if this gets denied.
thanks for the article. looks like there is an issue with the system when I try to proceed with the payment. I keep receiving this message “Order is paid sucessfull/paid failed or in processing. According to new regulation of the payment gateway, if you you paid failed or canceled payment, please create new evisa application. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience.”
hi travis. ?? what are you using in order to “”Receive Text Verifications (Via your U.S cell number) from your U.S banks/credit cards/etc etc etc.. if they need to verify its you trying to get into your accounts?? Last time i was overseas I ended up locked out of all my accounts because I wasn’t getting these ”Text 2fa verifications” from my Banks.
Hello, do you have any info about the new rule that seems to be in place, about we can’t apply within the country? I got denied as I am still in the country and applied for a visa run and paid the money, do you know if i will have to repay if i wait to resubmit my application outside the country? Thanks!
Thank you very much for helpful article, I want to ask you some question .In the event of rejection due to the lack of clarity of the image, do you repeat the process again and pay 25 USD or do you inter the site and take the registration number and continue downloading another image without paying any additional amount ?The second question Im planning to travel to Vietnam in the sixth month of this year is there a problem if I enter the application and try to obtain a visa now, The last question you must enter the address of the hotel in which you will stay, will they investigate the reservation or is it enough that the address is correct ? and thank you again
Hi, I’m planning to go Ho Chi Minh. If you have the approved E-Visa, do you still need to get a stamp for the Evisa, I saw some articles say you still need to prepare two passports pic, and other documents even if you have Evisa ready? Or you can go to the customs arrival and show them the passport with E-Visa?
I received my e-visa back today, which is great, but am a little concerned that on the e-visa, my name has been stated as surname then first name then middle name, yet I entered it as per instructions on the form and in your article. I see in the last part of your article, where you have received your approved e-visa your Full name is stated in the same way. I assume it is on the-visa once printed out??
Hi, Travis. Thanks for your article, very useful. I got 2 quick questions. If you put a hotel or airbnb or whatever, do you have to prove that you are going to stay in that address? in my case I need to apply as soon as possible but I will not know my address for sure until a few days before my flight which will be on the 22nd of January. Also, how long do you have to stay out of the country and come back for another 3 month visa? Thanks a lot.
Hi Brother, just a quick question. I have given a name as Syed Razi Faheem on my passport but no surname. When i applied the E Visa for vietnam, i typed Syed Razi in given name and Faheem in surname. Now i have got the visa but my name on visa is Faheem Syed Razi. And my name on passport and airline tickets is Syed Razi Faheem. Will that be an issue at checking in or immigration from the point i am flying ? Thank you so much in advance 😊
Hi Travis, I’m after a bit of advice. I’m coming to Vietnam in April, and I’ll be eligible for the 45-day visa on arrival as I’m from the UK. I’m going to spend 28 days in Vietnam, and then I’ll be flying to Thailand for a week. I’ll need to re-enter vietnam for my flight home back to the UK 24 hours later. Would i receive another 45-day visa on arrival? Or would i need to apply for a multi entry visa before my trip so I’m able to re-enter to catch my flight home? Thanks in advance.
Hi Travis I need advise on eVisa entry procedure to Vietnam. I have applied my e-visa directly from the this vietnam embassy website instead of other visa service providers and received my approved eVisa within 3 days. I’m a little confused about the next step. Most of the travel guide stating that, I have to pay duty stamp upon arrival in vietnam airport with affix passport photo in the eVisa. But, my e-Visa didn’t mention anything about this process and there is no instruction to paste my passport size photo in the e-Visa. Please advice me, what is the next step I need to follow once land in Vietnam.
Hi, Travis! I have a Belgian passport and I have a question concerning the E-Visa for Vietnam (travel as a tourist). I reached out to the Vietnam Embassy in Belgium with my question and they could not answer me, I got an e mail from the Vietnam embassy but got no answer so far. I was checking for the multiple entry e-visa, as I would enter Vietnam twice, but I see that I have to enter an entry checkpoint and an exit checkpoint. However, in this case, I would enter once through Ho Chi Minh International Airport and once through Da Nang International Airport thus the entry checkpoints would not be the same. Similarly, I would exit once from Ho Chi Minh (to fly to Siem Reap) and once from Hanoi (to fly back). How can I fill in the e-visa application? Doing two single entry e-visa’s: One entering Da Nang International Airport (coming back from Cambodia to Vietnam) and exiting Hanoi international airport (travel back home) One entering Da Nang international airport (coming back from Cambodia to Vietnam) and exiting Hanoi international airport (travel back home) Or One multiple entry e-visa, however then the entry and exit checkpoint won’t be correct for some travels? Thank you very much in advance!
Hi . My evisa application status is Amended Application. I was asked to re edit the application twice but still i have no idea what’s the wrong i did filling my application previously. I’m planning to re apply a new e visa application. Is it okay ? Will it affect to my new application because previously application is still in amend application status .
Hello. I entered all info inlcuding payment info through that website. But got this message: Order is paid sucessfull/paid failed or in processing. According to new regulation of the payment gateway, if you you paid failed or canceled payment, please create new evisa application. Sorry for the temporary inconvience.-> what does this even mean? does it mean it was successful/failed/or in processing??? I emailed/called them and even left a message via support system but NO REPLY. I already book my nonrefundable hotel and flight… PLEASE HELP :'( ………..
But what about extending. I am on a 90 day multiple entries now. It expires on Feb 5th. I was JUST about to pally for ANOTHER 90 day but Fat and Broke got me nervous. Was hoping to ask for another on the 5th (the day mine extends_ and do a land border one OR even ask for a 7th and just go somewhere for two days.
Hopefully this one works. Applied 6 months ago with their old site (looks like something a child would create) and was not denied, but also was never approved. After many attempts to resolve the issue I eventually went to Thailand and had a nice holiday. I’m not sure Vietnam wants foreigners in there country anymore.
Hey mate, can you help me with my Visa denial? I applied for Vietnamese Visa and got denied because I haven’t included the phone number in Vietnam which is just under the address section. I thought this was optional because it was not marked by a star. Can you please tell me what should I add here? I don’t have a Vietnamese phone number with me. I’m planning on getting one in the Airport so what should I add in here? Can it be my hotel’s phone number or my personal phone number with my country code?
I am traveling on a river cruise to Vietnam and Cambodia. My cruise company has said an e-visa does not work at the point of entries on the river but others say it does. Cruise company wants $300+ for visas. Perplexed and don’t want to have any issues. Any suggestions or heard anything about crossing on a river cruise?
Hi Travis!! How are you doing? First of all thank you for this article. I just got my e visa approved by following it :D. I have a question, any help would be very appreciated. When I checked the e visa, I see a field for address (just below the one that says “inviting/guarantering agency/organization (if any)” and they are both empty. I assume it is because the address is filled only if I’m with a inviting or guarantering organization, and it is not referring to the hotel address I Put when I sent the application. Is yours empty too even though you did put an address correctly? (Which is probably why they approved it). Thank you so much in advanced Travis. @TravisTravelsVN
I watched your article more than four times (!) trying to figure out why my Vietnam visa got denied today. It says, “Denied Reason: Passport Data Page Unclear ( lack of ICAO information).” I definitely wrote my surname correctly (Sha…)and my given name (Donna Jean) with a space in between first and middle names.) Would you kindly have a minute to suggest what I might have done wrong? Thanks a million!
I got my visa approved as well for September but field where address should be is blank even though I put my hotel address, anyone know anything about this ? And one more question, Do I need to have booked all days in hotels or Can I just have first few days booked and show them that confirmation code, and get other hotels booked while I’m there ?
Trying this right now and it’s driving me crazy Can not upload my photos from my iPad getting error message about the size of photo I think too big ? Too many pixels ? Maybe I don’t know .Tried downloading some passport photo apps all useless want you to send money to print out photos . Does this site work on IPads ? Really at a loss to figure this out
