As a Kohl’s associate: -The ten days after the expiration is called “A grace period” -For Amazon, most of the time it’s 25% for 7 days, some days 15% for 7 days -If a customer has two receipts that have totals that are close to elegible kohls cash, you can combine them to do so Other than that, I appreciate this article! It even taught me a few things I never knew ^^
2 smaller things, you should always get the kohls cash back on a return in the form of blue kohls cash which is good for exactly a month with no time extension. And about the kiosk thing, you can actually log onto the kohls app and use the store’s wifi to get free shipping on any purchase without having to use a kiosk.
I am a Kohl’s associate ~ I tell my guests they have 9 extra days to use their Kohl’s cash because it expires on the dot of the 10th day. If a shopper shops at 2pm on the day they get their cash and at 3pm on the 10th day the system won’t accept the barcode. I don’t want guests to be upset and have a negative experience.
You do absolutely get your Kohl’s cash back if you spend it on the item, if you don’t get a manager, someone is taking the option from you. If you use the Kohl’s cash you earned from the purchase them returned the item, you do lose the amount you earned and spent. I have worked for Kohl’s for 16 years.
I have amazing luck at Kohl’s getting incredible deals! At Christmas I bought my friend a sweater which was originally priced $36 but on clearance for $19,99 and I had a 30% off coupon. Well I put it in the shopping cart online but did not check out until the next day. The following day the sweater was on a price drop to $9.99 so I was able to get my friend 2, in both the colors she wanted. In addition to a 30% off coupon it was $14 & $5 Kohl’s cash, they threw in free shipping. So for about 11 bucks I got two sweaters whose value is $72. Great Moments in shopping history!
Great article! My wife Jenn is a Manager @ KOHL’S. Everything you’ve stated in this article is absolutely truthful, and many “in the know” customers, that have taken the time to pay attention, research the possibilities, ask the questions and take advantage of these things, are reaping huge discounts and benefiting from them. Well done.
I just wanted to let everyone know that if you have the Kohl’s app on your phone, when you are in the store connected to their WiFi network you always get free shipping with no minimum amount required. If it does not show free shipping on your device, make sure that on the Kohl’s app for Kohl’s access location that you have chosen either always or when app is in use and it will work every time. I hope this information helps everyone to save money on shipping cost, so they can use that money for something else.
Tip #12 – you talked about the limitations of free shipping and the high threshold (usually $75). When ordering online, sometimes products will be in stock at a nearby store OR Kohls will ship to your local store for free. In both cases, it is just a quick run to the store to pick up what you’ve ordered. I am guilty of placing an uber-cheap order just to use up expiring Kohls cash for something I can then pick up for free. And often it is for a size or color that is not available at my store but Kohls will replenish from another location…for free. I have had some wonderful coupon-stacking hauls at Kohls where I’ve actually been at the register and said, “charge me for two of those”, run back to the department to grab a second one, and had it kick in another stack so the second item had no incremental impact to the sale total. That is my favorite kind of shopping rush!
From my understanding, when u use kohl’s cash on an item and then return it u are supposed to get the kohl’s cash back. However if u earn kohl’s cash, spend said kohl’s cash and then return items from the original purchase that gave u kohl’s cash that would be deducted from the return value. Hopefully this makes sense it a little hard to explain.
Thanks for this article! I absolutely love Kohl’s and have gotten fantastic deals there for years! One tip to piggyback on getting free shipping from the kiosks is that you can also get free shipping using their app while you are in the store. I find that the app is much easier and less cumbersome than the kiosk.
I bought a pair of silver earrings that were over $100, for $18 using sales, Kohls cash, and coupons. Even the associate was floored at how much I saved. We do most of our Christmas shopping at Kohls and it saves us so much money. We also get tons of Kohls cash which we use on after Christmas sales. Btw, I just returned something and received all of my Kohls cash back.
I work the signs at my store and I can say that there are items that are having a “big sale” but can be a higher price than they would be during a normal sale with discounts. The lowest prices of the season is one example where there are no instore coupons but “prices are so low you don’t need them.” prices can still be higher than if discounts were applied at the higher sale price from the previous week. It really depends on what you’re looking for. The Amazon coupon is key for those no-coupon sales. Also, sales start like Wednesday or Thursday usually and end Sundays so Monday and Tuesday is usually the higher price days unless a sale event is going on. And find out your local stores truck schedule you can just as a manager and plan to shop 1 or 2 days after the truck day for all the new stuff that was brought in. Also you DO get the kohls cash back on returns unless it is nonrecipted, unless I’m gonna go in and work the customer service tomorrow and see the policy suddenly changed since yesterday. With the credit card you need to pay it off fully each month to avoid the interest, if not its like 25% APR!
I’ve worked at kohl’s for about 2-3 years so I’m very pleased with the accuracy of your tips on how to save at kohl’s. I do want to add one more thing, howeverāKohl’s rewards. If customers join kohl’s rewards, it’s free and you get points which accumulates up for cash plus they sometimes offer some days where you get double points and one of the best bonus for signing up for rewards with kohl’s is when they offer mystery savings (where they email you a certain percentage off for a certain timeframe). I’ve actually had mystery savings up to 35% off before (but do note that this discount is a one time offer only).
Kohl’s does price matching as well. We looked at a Kuerig at Target, took a picture of the item with the shelf tag (showing SKU #) then went to Kohl’s bc we had a 30% off coupon. They verified the Target price was current, then price matched it by going to the register with us. Then we used our 30% off coupon and got Kohl’s cash on the purchase! It was an awesome deal.
The Amazon return coupons change regularly. I work there, I have received the 25% and the 10$ kohls cash. U can use regular kohls cash 10 days after the expiration date, in store only, not online. Doesn’t include kohls rewards or the blue kohls cash that u might get when I return. And it’s 15% for senior day and we let them use the 35% the same day, all day when they open a kohls card. U get the kohls cash back that u used to purchase an item if u return it. It’s confusing but if u used it to pay u will get it back…. I give ppl kohls cash back every day
Hi there! I purchased clothes with Kohl’s cash the other day.. I asked the associate, “I can’t try on clothes because of covid. If I buy these and need to return them, will I get my Kohl’s cash back?” The answer was YES. A couple days later I returned everything, got all my Kohl’s cash back, and repurchased what I was keeping. I’m not sure if there’s a time or product limit on that, but it’s definitely something worth looking into!
I have worked for Kohl’s for 15 years so I have to point out a couple of things. First, you do get Kohl’s Cash back, it’s blue, not green, for a return on an item you bought with Kohl’s Cash. If you earned Kohl’s Cash, spent it and then returned the item, you will lose the value of the Kohl’s Cash ( You have merchandise at home equaling that amount). Second, expired Kohl’s Cash can be accepted in the store if it scans. That is usually around a week, but you cannot use it online. Third, the senior discount is 15%, not 50%. The code on the esign is BB for Best Buy and the codes really don’t have much meaning for the consumer, it is to indicate to the adset team what the topper should be. While toys and Beauty and electronics, as well as items like Nike and Under Armour, cannot be discounted, you do get Kohl’s Cash for them. Finally, most of these things are revealed to the customers. Also, you never mention Kohl’s Rewards which is a program you sign up for and it tracks your purchases and your Kohl’s Cash. It pays you 5% in the form of more Kohl’s Cash and allows the store to tell you if you have Kohl’s Cash to spend when you check out at the register. Other that that, you do a nice job and thank you.
I have the BEST stacked coupon deal I ever made!! I wanted a white gold diamond Vera Wang wedding ring. The price was a little over $6000! So I waited till the 60% off all jewelry sale, had a additional coupon for 30% off one item AND a Kohls scratch-off of 20% off (for using my Kohl’s charge) and when all was said and done the ring went from $6000 to a little over $900!!! My greatest day ever!! 💍
One very important benefit to keep in mind when you’re using your Kohl’s Credit Card… Your purchase is interest free as long as you pay one-third of your account balance. This special savings is shown on your monthly statement as an “amount to pay to avoid finance charges”. I just automatically take my statement balance and divide it by three and just round up to the nearest $5 to make my payment. This feature is especially helpful when making large purchases and it helps you pay it off very quickly without incurring any finance charges.
As far as jewelry at kohl’s, it’s better to stick with the 50-80% off sales, which if you have kohl’s cash, you can also use towards your purchase, then to go with the BOGO 50% off. I have scored some fantastic items at these sales, and dollar for dollar, you do better with the %off sales. Hope this helps!😊
I went to Kohl’s the other day and I like long sleeve t shirts to wear with my jeans you wear I’m under a blazer and I bought a whole bunch of them they’re only $4 you just have to look and search they were not on the sales rack where it says 80% off they were not on hanging on the rack they were very nicely folded on the table so make sure you check out those tables!!😲🤫🤸👍👁ļø👖👚🕊ļø
May I just say that Kohl’s loves people to know how to save money in their store! It is actually one of their corporate pillars for their customers to get the most value for every dollar spent in their store. They expect their associates to be saving experts and actively seek to hire Kohl’s shoppers knowing they will make the best associates, actively teaching their customers how to save money in their stores. Expired Kohl’s cash can only be used in-store, not online, the green Kohl’s cash has the 10 day grace period. The rules for the blue Kohl’s return Kohl’s cash is a bit different but should always be check at the register to let the register determine if it is still good or not. Great tip on the Kohl’s Credit Card. Customers can also make their credit card payment at the time of their purchase giving them the best of both worlds. Also once you spend $600 in a year an earn MVC status you do earn free shipping days each month during the credit card customer sale….see Kohl’s website regarding Kohl’s cash and returns. (You have not explained the Kohl’s cash return policy correctly. You lose the Kohl’s cash when changing items but not returning items.) The Kiosk is a great tip, don’t forget to add your promo codes and Kohl’s cash when shopping. It is actually easier to connect to the Store WIFI and shop from your Kohl’s App on your device to get free shipping while you are shopping instore to get free shipping. Just make sure your location setting is turned on to access the free shipping.
Few things 1. Kohls cash should come back to you as an in store credit 2. Kohls yes you can policy allows a lot of wiggle room with discount, returns and exchanges 3. Don’t shop with out coupons bogos are only worth it is you actually need 2 of the item. 4. Under armor and some of the other brands don’t work with coupons. 5. Kohls cash does have to be $50 before tax or the computer won’t generate it. Don’t forget to check out kohls cares, only $5 and all proceeds go to the fundraiser
A newer advantage to the Kohl’s credit card is that you can set up auto-payments online. 🙌🏻 In the past, I have forgotten an occasional payment because I shop at Kohl’s infrequently and don’t get paper statements. This feature helps me avoid that pesky, expensive interest charge the following month.
1. Kohls cash can be used once its expired. I always tell the customer to just scan and see if the system will still take it. More details to why it allows it and its not always 10 days. 2. It works but only some items are part of that. 3. S=sale Bb=bonus buy During bonus buys There’s normally no percentages off. Bgh=buy 1 get one half off You also have your generic signs that advertise the kohls card and the Kohl’s cash and reward system. 4. Nike, under armor, Adidas, perishables, fragrances, toys, insta pot, lots of things are excluded. 5. Yes its wonderful but before the pandemic. We are so backed up with returns. Yes you do get coupons. Its normally 25% off. The kohls cash is a rare thing. More details on that. 6. Couldn’t have said it any better. Most of the time there are other coupons out there that are better than 15%. 7. Sounds about right 8. Yup 9. Perfect 👌 kohls cash is a gift so use it wisely 10. My favorite. I hate that damn kiosk. The touch screen sucks. Once you become a mvc kohls card holder you get monthly chances for free shipping at home.
Back in April I purchased work boots through Kohls.com. I used Kohls cash to make the purchase along with coupons from them. The boots did not fit so I returned them using UPS (because of Covid-19 and stores being closed). I spoke with a kohls agent over the phone to order a different kind of boot and they gave me the same coupon discount I previously used and the Kohls cash as well. I would try calling Kohls directly to have them give you the Kohls cash back for future purchases.
I have gotten $10 when I did an amazon return. If I am not mistaken it was like at 25% off and needed to be used that day. Since the store was about to close I bought something and returned it the next day when I had time to shop. You do get Kohls cash back when you make a return on something you paid Kohls cash.
Saving tip #13 for Kohls…the kohls Cash that you earn has no minimum limit to spend…for example…if you have $20 kohl’s cash to spend you can buy anything worth $20 (even on sale or clearance) and pay nothing out of pocket!!! With other stores you have to spend x amount of money in order to use the cash that you already earn…😉…I know…I shop kohl’s several times a week!!!
I am a Kohl’s associate and worked in Customer Service doing returns for 4 years. It is absolutely false under all circumstances that you do not get your Kohl’s Cash back if you return the item(s) you used it on. He is thinking about if you spend the Kohl’s Cash you EARNED on an item you later return… then they deduct the Kohls Cash from the refund. Also, the senior discount is 15% on Wednesdays, not 50%. Also, you cannot use Kohl’s Cash for 10 days after it expires. This is something that some stores do at their descretion, and is never allowed online. More the exception than the rule.
One thing to consider with the beauty and toys, while excluded from coupons you can still redeem and earn Kohl’s cash. And with the 180 day no hassle return policy, you can return the make up you tried on and don’t like or the toy your kid broke 6 months after buying it. Probably won’t get there anywhere else.
You didn’t mention the Kohl’s Rewards program, formerly called Yes2You Rewards. 5% back on purchases, emailed out in $5 increments on first of the next month. You have that month to spend your rewards money. No additional days after it expires. Costs nothing to join and you don’t have to have a Kohl’s card to sign up. Also, you can stack dollars off and percentage off coupons but not two percentage off coupons. For ex. $10 off $40 or more on intimates and 15% off entire purchase.
My two cents, as someone who worked at Kohl’s. Kohl’s Cash. So you don’t have to actually spend $50 to earn Kohl’s Cash. The threshold is $2 under each 50, so $48.00 before tax then 98.00 for the next threshold, so on. (This is also mentioned on the website.) At my store, you could use expired Kohl’s Cash up to 10 days after it’s expired. Any more than that and it’s up to the manager on duty whether or not they can honor it. As far as I know, it’s only in store you’re able to use expired Kohl’s Cash. Kohl’s Cash works on everything except Kohl’s Cares merchandise, Gift Cards or towards a Kohl’s Card payment. Amazon Returns. Some stores have a 25% off coupon but other stores have Kohl’s Cash. This varies store to store. Stores are testing different coupons to kinda gauge what customers would like to use. Free Shipping. I wouldn’t even recommend the kiosk to be honest. It’s can be a little tedious, especially if you’re not too savvy with electronics. I’d recommend getting the Kohl’s App. If you allow the app to use your location (this option is in app settings on your phone), you get free shipping while you’re in store. If you’re unsure how to use your Kohl’s App, ANY ASSOCIATE should be able to help you with that. We’re all trained to use the Kohl’s App so we SHOULD be able to help you. Plus, the Kohl’s App would have all of your shipping information already so you don’t have to type that in at a Kiosk. Kohl’s App. Let’s say you find an item in the store but not your size. You can use the scanner on the app to scan the tag on the item.
I love this info about Kohl’s ! I don’t know if this bit of info helps but on that day that you apply for that credit and you get that 35% off only on that day…you can still leave the store and come back later that same day, as long as it is on that day ..I had to leave and I asked them if I could come back and they said yes..as long as it’s that day…..anyway, thank you for all you do!!! God bless you and your family….
I currently work at Kohl’s and I’d just like to add that, although you can use Kohl’s cash after it’s expired, you need the actual paper print out. The Kohl’s app will not let you use the expired Kohl’s cash. Don’t throw the paper Kohl’s cash away otherwise it won’t be honored. Also, depending on which store you shop at, some managers will allow our heroes to use the 15% any day, not just Monday. Our manager, as well as all the associates, believe they deserve it everyday so we honor it everyday!! 😃🙌🏼
Ex Kohls employee here!! About the kohls cash return! We actually DO give you your kohl’s cash back! It’s in a different “form” but it is still kohls cash! The only way we reduce or get rid of your kohls cash is if you earn kohls cash on a purchase, use that kohls cash to buy something else and then return the product you earned the cash on, in that situation we would not return your kohls cash because it has already been spent on a different item. If you spent kohls cash on a product and then return that product you absolutely (at least SHOULD) get your kohls cash back!
Kohls just updated their register checkout systems about a week or two ago. If you plug in your reward account we can now check to see if you have any kohls cash to use, in case you do not have it on you or forgot to bring your phone into the store. The system will bring up current and recently expired kohls cash. I’d also like to mention regarding coupons, VANS shoes can be purchased using percent-off coupons! They are not on the list of exclusions, though Converse are.
if you return something you used kohls cash on with the recipet or card then you do get the kohls cash back that you used on the purchase. They take it away if you return somehting that earned you the kohls cash. So if you spend $50 and get the $10 in kohls cash then later come back and return something……. that’s now putting the total for the purchase at $30, then they take that $10 kohls cash reward back because essensially you ended uop only spending $30.
Kohl’s restocks daily, and customers can ask if they don’t see what they need, their associated will always check the backstock to see if they can find it for them. The Heroes discount is actually 20%. Heroes in addition military also includes emergency responders i.e. medical, and other essential workers, please check with your local store for the complete list of those included in the Heroes discount. You are correct that it is on Monday.
1. All our associates know about the 10 days kohls cash exception period unless they’re extremely new. It will scan at the registers but YOU CAN’T USE EXPIRED KOHLS CASH ONLINE. 3. “BB which is Bonus Day” The topper on it literally says Bonus Buy and you got it wrong lol. The letter system is just so we know what topper to put on the sign. Really just different ways to say on sale. PP or Price point does not mean it’s going clearance or we’re going to stop carrying it. It just means it gets a sign with a price ie $9.99 for SO t-shirts or something to that effect. 9. If you make a purchase with Kohls cash and return the item YOU WILL GET KOHLS CASH BACK. However, if you earned kohls cash on the purchase, use that kohls cash, then return the item that you earned the cash for purchasing you will get a lesser refund because you wouldn’t have earned the kohls cash in the first place. *TIP: If you make multiple purchases during a Kohl’s Cash earning period you can combine those receipts for Kohls Cash. So make a $30 purchase on Tuesday. Go back Friday and spend another $20. Show the cashier both receipts and get Kohls Cash. Also works with online purchases but have to have order number for cashier to enter.
Few things, as I’ve worked at Kohl’s for years. Kohls cash will not work online after the expiration date, and no amount of asking us can change that. It’s 100% out of our control. The register can scan a Kohl’s cash 10 more days if it’s a green one, but that’s still technically up to the discretion of the manager. They can, and sometimes do, say no. Blue ones expire the day they say. You will however always get Kohl’s cash spent towards something back as a Kohl’s cash, that’s what the blue Kohl’s cash are. However, if you earn Kohl’s cash, spend it, then return the items you earned that Kohl’s cash with, your refund will be deducted that amount of Kohl’s cash. For Amazon returns, Amazon has to direct you to us. If it only gives UPS or a Whole Foods as a drop off point, we can’t take it. Getting Kohl’s cash instead of a percent off coupon for Amazon returns was a limited test thing, most stores never had it. The codes on the signs aren’t really a secret, it’s literally just to tell us which sale topper to put on it, so if we see a BB on it we know to put up a Bonus Buy topper. PP stands for price point and has nothing to do with being discontinued, it’s just to tell us to put up a price specific sign, like 9.99. Stuff that’s discontinued will be under a “limited quantity” sign.
From a currently Kohl’s associate, here’s a list of stuff that’s excluded from coupons: (15%, 20%, 30%, & $ off amounts) – kids toys – beauty products – name brand athletics (i.e. Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, etc.) – Levi’s & Columbia – premium electronics (i.e. Fitbit, Amazon, Nintendo, etc.) – Converse, Koolaburra, Timberland, Toms, etc. – Kohl’s cares – candy – sunglasses – Dyson – Kitchen Aid (select items because some aren’t excluded but I’m not sure off the top of my head exactly which ones) You can’t stack coupons and our registers will take the highest amount, so if you’re wanting to use a 15% and a 30% off on the same purchase we’ll only be able to use the 30%. Kohl’s cash, however, you can stack as much as you want which is super nice during the holidays when you’re shopping more frequently. Our rewards program recently changed so instead of points back, you get 5% back from every purchase!
Hey guys! I have worked for kohls for over a year now doing mostly customer service at one of the biggest and busiest stores in my region. Like others have said, the kohls cash is good in store and online during the dates on the kohls cash but it will be honoured IN STORE ONLY for 10 days after the end date. You CAN call kohls.com and they MAY honor your kohls cash, but it will probably be a 15-20 minute phone call. As far as the coupon for doing Amazon returns, it does change from a 25 percent off coupon to 15 percent off depending on the time of year. I know over thanksgiving and Christmas they have changed it and there is really no way of knowing when we change them. Kohls is a great store and the best place I have ever worked! I love my job and tha is for this article! All of this is stuff that we tell customers.
I’ve never really liked how Kohl’s treated earned Kohl’s Cash like it was something to limit or take away as they do. I’ve always preferred earned rewards which are mine to use without the risk of loss Kohl’s Cash carries. It’s helped make Kohl’s a place I only visit once or twice a year, certainly not the first place I think of when I shop.
I have the app and credit card. When the coupon comes out where you either get the 30, 20 or 15% off, I google the 30% code and add it to me wallet online(that is if I only got 15 or 20% off). Also, I have noticed that when the 30% coupon is going on, some items are a bit more expensive. There’s a window between 11pm and 12am right before your coupon expires. The items change price but your coupon is still valid(just make sure you remember your coupon code because it will be deleted from your app) also I live in Arizona and don’t know if it would work anywhere because of the time difference.
As a former employee, here a few things: 1. Correction on the return and Kohl’s cash: If you use the Kohl’s cash BEFORE you return the original item, then you WILL lose your Kohl’s cash. Right info, incorrect scenario. 2. On an item return, if you do not have a receipt, you can either do an even exchange OR receive a store credit for the lowest sale price in the last 6 months prior to the return. 3. On an item return, if you purchased something on your Kohl’s CC and did not have the receipt, the system can look up the item {within a 13-month timeframe} and return it for the price your paid, otherwise #2 is in effect.
If your Kohl’s Cash is from the Rewards program, it expires ON the expiration date. Kohl’s Cash earned in store through purchases can be used up to 10 days later in store only. Also, if you don’t want to lose your Kohl’s cash when returning an item, you must find an item with the exact same price to purchase. Sometimes I have had to find an item of the same price, but in other stores they have given me Kohl’s cash back. It may have depended on when I returned it.
I just want to point out that kohls does give you back kohls cash on returns where you used kohls cash in the purchase. Its in the form of blue kohls cash that is good for 30 days from the date you returned the item. They started doing that several years ago. The only time you would not get your kohls cash back is if there is no way to look up how you paid for your item. That is what is known as a non-receipted return, which will go back to you in merchandise credit or cash.
You do get the Kohl’s cash back on purchases you return. However, if you are returning something and you earned Kohl’s cash on that purchase and the item you are returning puts you under the $50 subtotal earning of Kohl’s cash then you lose that amount on the return. Senior Wednesday is also only 15% off and Hero Monday works for any first responder, nurse, military, veteran.
If I have Kohl’s cash, I look at toys and often get them for free or cheaper than elsewhere. Also, if you select store pickup, you sometimes get a $5 Kohl’s cash. If you need a filler item for free shipping and have used Kohl’s cash in your order, select the Kohl’s Cares items to hit free shipping limit. You cannot redeem Kohl’s cash on Kohl’s Care items, so when you return the Kohl’s Cares item, you shouldn’t lose any Kohl’s cash. Lastly, remember that they apply Kohl’s Cash first, then any percentage off coupons. It used to be the opposite. It makes the Kohl’s cash less valuable. If you’re buying a cheap product with Kohl’s Cash, double check that a percentage off coupon along with the Kohl’s Cash is your best bet vs. just paying with Kohl’s Cash.
So I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this but I’ve been able to avoid applying for the credit card because being on the email list I typically get at least a 30%coupon each month. The only catch is those deeper discount coupons only last a day so you have to time it right and check your emails.but I’ve saved a lot this way
Don’t have a 30% coupon? Look up the coupon code and enter it into the app. It gives you a barcode that can be scanned at the register. I’ve told customers this for years and I still do it myself, only if you have a Kohl’s Credit Card though. 😉Any coupons shown in store do need to be scannable, typically, unless the associate is feeling generous. Or just say you left your 30% at home.
I work at kohl’s and yeah we have a 10 day grace period honestly I tell every customer cause it’s money that could go to waste just don’t get it confused with rewards cash once that expires you can no longer use it since you have a month to use it The Amazon coupon only lasts a week and can only be used once Also just remember all percentage discounts do not apply to branded items such as Nike under armour and addidas I might have misunderstood about number 10 but you can’t stack percentages so if you signed up for the kohl’s card and you got your percentage let’s say it’s a 30% and then you went to Amazon and got the 25% you can’t take both percentages off your purchase. but you can take another type of discount off for instance if there is a coupon like $10 dollars off of $50 (just one example of coupon) you can combine one percentage with that Also if you have the app you can be in the store and on the kohl’s WiFi and it will also give you free shipping to your house Sometimes the kiosks are slow and phones I found work faster and are easier to type on. Fun fact if there is kohl’s cash that you can earn that week and you made a purchase on the kiosk say you spent $20 and you have items you want to buy but it will only be $30 in total you can take the receipt of you kiosk purchase and combine them to get that $10 kohl’s cash
You don’t have to use the kiosk inside the store to get free shipping. As long as you are logged into the Kohl’s guest wifi you can get free shipping by ordering off your phone. I actually rarely even step foot inside the store as I login into their guest WiFi while sitting in my car parked close to the building and place my order on my phone! I do this all the time! The trick is you have to be logged into their guest free WiFi. A Kohl’s associate told me about it.
Yes yes yes.. I took a Amazon package to kohl’s and they gave me a 25% off coupon to use in store.. I purchased a pair of Skechers that were on sale for $79.00.So besides the sale I received 25% off which bought the cost down to $62.49 I had a $10.00 kohls cash so I ended up paying $52.49 for the Skechers plus they gave me another $10.00 Kohls cash! I have also used Kohls cash after the expired day because the cashier told me about that when I mentioned my kohls cash expired two days ago…
One more thing about the Kohl’s cash. If you need to use expired Kohl’s cash you can ONLY use it in store. Online will not accept the expired cash except during the shutdown. Also, you absolutely do get Kohls cash back. It is prorated per item on the purchase and it is colored blue and does not expire for 30 days. However, since it is for longer than regular Kohl’s cash there is no grace period. Conversely, if you earn Kohl’s cash on a purchase, spend it and later return the item, your refund will be reduced by the amount of the Kohl’s cash used.
So I work at Kohls and for number 11 I always recommend for people to go to the Kohls app and connect the Kohls Wi-Fi when they’re in store because if you do that you can also get free shipping when you order through the app because nobody likes using the kiosks because it’s impossible to add coupons and it’s always a bad experience using them
I find the Kiosk very difficult to use. If you don’t have a Kohls charge card, you have to put all your data in and it’s quite a laborious job. You have to practically bang on the keys. The keyboard is pretty much upright, not slanted like a regular keyboard, which also makes inputting date very difficult.
I work at kohl’s and if you return something and you used your kohl’s cash to purchase that item that you’re returning you do get your kohl’s cash back BUT if you received kohl’s cash for that $180 item you are now returning you are no longer going to be able to keep that $15 kohl’s cash u received for that item because you no longer spent that $180 so for ur refund it’ll take away that $15 you earned and spent and your refund will be reduce by $15 a lot of people don’t get that but once you return that item you don’t just get to keep that free $15 coupon
1. The first one is 50% true. You can use “expired” Kohl’s cash 10 days after the expiration date, but the original paper copy must be scanned therefore you can only use it in store after that expiration date. It leaves your online and in-store rewards account after that date, so the paper copy has to be scanned.
I work customer service at Kohl’s, you do get your kohl’s cash back when you return an item you spent kohl’s cash on. On top of that the kohl’s cash is now good for thirty days so if your kohl’s cash is about to expire spend it and return the item to have 30 more days to use it! HOWEVER if you spend kohl’s cash and then return the item you earned that kohl’s cash on, the system reduces your refund by that amount. Tip: do not spend your kohl’s cash until you know that you will Not return the item you earned it with.
As a Kohl’s associate of 5 and a half years, let me elaborate on some of these points. 1.) Yes, Kohl’s Cash is valid for up to 10 days after the expiration date, IN STORE ONLY. If you try to use it online after it expires it will not work. Also, Kohl’s cash you receive from a return or from Rewards are valid for 30 days and 30 days only. There is no extension. If you make a return where Kohl’s cash was earned the cash becomes reduced, and if redeemed before the return, it will be taken from the return amount. Every company has to make money somehow. 4.) Yes, beauty, fragrance, and toys are exempt from our regular every day coupons. So are name brand products like Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, Levi’s, Electronics, Converse. A tip for future and current shoppers of Kohl’s. At the bottom of most of our electronic signs, it will state the following: “Ineligible for promotional coupons and offers.” Meaning the item will not work with regular Kohl’s coupons. Kohl’s cash however work on EVERYTHING in the store, aside from Kohl’s Cares products. All proceeds for these are given to charities. 5.) Amazon returns are accepted at all Kohl’s stores. HOWEVER, not everything is able to be returned to us. You have to start your return beforehand, at home. If it is eligible for Kohl’s drop off it will give you a code for us to scan. If Kohl’s is not given as an option, Amazon will force you to choose between USPS and UPS drop off. ALSO, the coupon given when an Amazon return is made is not always 25%.
I’ve been working at kohls for over 6 years as management customer service more specifically and I can say for a FACT if you purchase something and use kohls cash and then you return that item you DO get your kohls cash back for sure its blue and you have 30 days to use it in store or online that one on the other hand does not have “grace” period after it expires and the regular kohls cash we also say doesn’t have a grace period if it scans then we will honor it but if it doesn’t then we won’t use it
YES THEY DO GIVE THE KOHLS CASH BACK!!! I work a kohls and have spent many days behind the customer service counter. The air fryer example you talk about. If you bring it back we will refund that $20 kohls cash to you on a blue kohls cash slip and you have an entire month to spend it before it expires, plus the 10 day grace period if you use it in the actual store. The only time that we would ever take kohls cash away is if you had earned kohls cash on the air fryer purchase and then returned it, then you would have un-earned the kohls cash and it would be invalid. But yes!! anytime you bring back an item you get your refund plus the kohls cash you spent on the item!
Returning where Kohls cash is involved is always so confusing but here is how it works. This is just an example- You purchase $50 (subtotal), you earn $10 in Kohl’s cash. You go back in and use that Kohls cash on your visit during its redemption time. You go back in a week later and return something from that original transaction that cost you $15. Kohls computer system knows that your original transaction now no longer hits that $50 earning amount and that you have already used that Kohls cash. It will reduce your refund by $10 and this is because your original transaction no longer meets the criteria for earning. You are no longer entitled for that Kohls cash. But if you were to return the item that you redeemed your Kohls cash on you would still get $10 in Kohls cash back. This the hardest policy to understand around Kohls cash and hopefully this makes it a little easier to understand. Also using the wi-fi on your phone will not get you free shipping in the store. You must have your location services turned on. It will then recognize by GPS that you are in a Kohls store and then it will not charge shipping. Shipping still applies on oversized items, there isn’t free shipping on those items.
I refused to shop at Kohl’s again because they did a fairly shady thing one Black Friday. I don’t know if this was an isolated incident or a company-wide mandate, but basically they only had a single cash register open, and the line of Black Friday shoppers snaked halfway through the store. The only way around getting stuck in line was that they had a special register open to those who wanted to apply for their credit card.
Kohl’s is a self defense system for themselves. They pull you in, give you couplons that only are good for limited times, usually after you have gone through the gauntlet of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc, sale and so on, then earn cash and spend towards non sale items. And of course as to be used no less than 30 days later, IF the management will allow. This is optional??? Also, if you need to return anything, they keep, subtract or if they don’t have a replacement for your item, store credit and still take your kohl’s cash back from you. They are solely keeping all your money coming into the store constantly and for what you get in return, is like one girl said, that is an employee, they don’t let you get discount on name brands, omit anything that is higher end products, so that anything that they do have available are just so so. I spent my best money finds in a sale/ clearance category. Then finally got tired of them and closed the damn charge account and feel better for it. That’s my experience.
We are supposed to tell the customers about the ten day bonus on kohl’s cash, also for the lettering it is actually for the associates to correctly sign, also with the toys and beauty you can use kohl’s cash the only reason they are excused from the kohl’s percentage is because we don’t own the brand we just sell it or because the brand makes there own deals that we have to follow same goes with all other exclusions like all the big name brands.
If you sign up for Kohl’s rewards, 5% of your purchase (no matter how you pay) goes into your rewards account. At the end of the month, it is tallied and the first week of the next month, you’ll receive your reward. You will have to have earned more than 5.00 to receive a reward, as the payout is done in multiples of 5. For instance, I currently have 47.89 in my rewards account. If I buy nothing else by month’s end, I will receive 45.00 in Kohl’s rewards in the first week of next month.
You mentioned the kiosks in your article, which I have used many times to avoid paying shipping, but they recently have removed the kiosks from the stores in my area, so that is no longer a money saving option here in the south suburbs of Chicago. Also, they have begun restricting store coupons on some items that used to permit them. For example, I have used store 30% coupons on Lee pants for women many times, but the last time I wanted to purchase them, the website said that the store coupon was not allowed. VERY disappointing, to say the least.
One thing to note – When Kohl’s Cash is given out, if you purchase something for $50 you receive $10 Kohl’s Cash. You use the $10 Kohl’s Cash to purchase another item. If you return the $50 item, Kohl’s considers you did not earn the Kohl’s Cash. The Kohl’s Cash that you spent on another item will be deducted from your return.
Expired Kohls cash can only be used in store. As long as they didn’t do the return for that item and it voids out the Kohls cash that they originally earned. And it’s not Y2Y rewards Kohls cash or the refunded blue Kohls cash. They have 30 days to use the Y2Y rewards and the blue Kohls cash. I’m not sure which store you went to for returns, but you do get Kohls cash back if you used Kohls cash to purchase that item. Unless it’s I think a birthday Kohls cash or anniversary. If however you earned Kohls cash on that original receipt and your returning an item that will be less than $50, and every $50 you spend you get $10 of Kohls cash, then you will LOSE that Kohls cash. If you do not want to lose that Kohls cash, you can even exchange an item, as long as it’s in the same department and the same original price, then it will not affect the Kohls cash. If you bought an item online and you want to even exchange that item in store, but we do not carry it, we cannot do an even exchange from online. So what I suggest to customers is that they can either return the item and reorder the size they want, or if they originally bought it at a great sale and the item they want to reorder is full price, then I would suggest is to wait for the return, order the next size they want online or at the Kiosk, then once they have received the size, come back to the store with two receipts and the item they want to return. We’ll do a return on the item they just reordered, so they get their money back, and we’ll do an even exchange.
you DEFINITELY should take advantage of kohls amazon returns it’s super easy and fast, free, and we always give you a 15-25% off coupon for kohls. i also HEAVILY recommended you get a kohls card if you shop with us somewhat often. not only do you get TONS of coupons that we don’t offer to other customers, and you can get 35% off on your first purchase with the card.
I went into Kohl’s to buy a new purse. The strap on mine gave out after 8 years. So I find a really nice leather purse made in the U.S.A. $49.99. I think this is a fare price. I go up to the counter to pay. The lady said $2.95. I said what? She said it 90% off today. I grabbed 2 more in different styles. lol $2.95 for a $50 purse, hell yea. I used the other 2 as gifts.
Hmm, I’m a Kohls associate and I work costumer service, and you ALWAYS get any Kohls cash you spend back UNLESS it is a birthday kohl’s cash. Other than that we hand out a blue Kohls cash at costumer service that will be any amount of kohls cash you spent on the item your returning, and you have a month to spend it from the day you returned that item.
A couple of edits from someone who has worked for Kohls for 15 years. The only Kohls cash that has a grace period is the in store earned Kohl’s cash. Online and blue return kohls cash or rewards do not have this 10 day grace period. Be careful about the 10 kohls cash amazon return coupon. That may be subject to where you are as in my store I have never seen anything but the 25% off come from a return. Even the apology coupon is still a 25%. When you return an item that you used Kohl’s cash to buy you DO get the Kohl’s cash back in the form of a blue return Kohl’s cash. This is good for 30 days from the date of the return. The only time you would lose Kohl’s cash is when you return items from the receipt that you have EARNED the Kohl’s cash on. There is a big difference here and it is something I have to explain to people on a daily basis. Make sure you know the difference between the rules for earning Kohl’s cash and the rules for spending Kohl’s cash. You are not guaranteed 30 all 12 times they send out coupons for the Kohl’s charge. You get a card in the mail that could have 15-20-30%. Your cell phone will get you the same perks as the Kiosk if you order from the Kohl’s app and you have your location services turned on so that they know you are in a store. It is also a lot easier than using a kiosk as this is pretty old technology that we will be getting rid of soon.
Personally I don’t get Kohls. Everything is way overpriced. 85% of the time the item I’ve gone in for is out of stock. I never can find an employee on the floor. I only shop there once a year – Black Friday & then I have the most difficult time spending the Kohls cash. The only good thing that’s happened is I found a $20 bill in a wallet at the handbag section!
I didnt “get” all that which u said abt the discount stacking–i think it was #7 or #8. It seemed u were saying that one could use multiple in-store discounts on the same purchase(s)? But u mentioned coupons too—u went so FAST, i didnt have time for it all to sink in. I want to find an item i can use 10 coupons/discounts on!!!!
Kohls is committed to their customers getting the most value for every dollar they spend in our store. We do know and in fact tell our customers that Kohl’s cash is usable, many of us do with every purchase. Rebate receipts are printed automatically with every tractions and given to every customer. Beauty products and a great purchase because they can be returned for up to six months and you can earn Kohl’s cash on both beauty and toys. You can also purchase beauty and toys with your Kohl’s cash and save with them. Amazon returns and savings are not a secret!
* KOHLS CASH PURCHASE / RETURNS ** For #9 I’m not sure if that’s based on stores but any purchase made kohls cash/ rewards you will receive that amount back. Like his example 180$ purchase with money/ credit will go back the exact way you paid for it. BUT the 20$ kohls you will receive back, it starts the day you returned it or 30 days to try and use it. ONCE that 30 days kohls cash does expire there’s nothing many managers that will honor that expire Kohls cash because you had those 30 days to try to use it. Good for online and in-store, the only kohls cash that does not get returned back to you is the Birthday or anniversary Kohls cash. Those are a one time use because you only have 1 birthday/ anniversary. * On that Receipt that you did earn that kohls cash one it is stated on the bottom, IF the kohls cash that was earn was spent on a different purchase it will reduce your return about by that kohls cash. – Example RECEIPT A – subtotal is 55.50 and you earned that 10$ kohls cash and had spent it on RECEIPT B. Receipt B you purchased two items and used your 10$ kohls cash and it evenly got spilt between those two item of 5$ kohls cash. (It will state on the receipt how much kohls cash got spilt into each items) ANY RETURNS FROM RECEIPT A, will reduce your return amount by that 10$ because the kohls cash was spent. Therefore dropping you under that subtotal you under that 55.50 ORGINALLY earn the kohls cash on. If you return 1 item from Receipt B, you will get that 5$ kohls cash back if didn’t like both and return both then you will get that full 10$ kohls cash back again to try to spend that day or the 30$ after.
I did just get a 25% off from an Amazon return, top that with items I bought at 80% off, it was a great deal! And when I looked online to get a different size the prices-the discount was not as good. I did get kohl’s cash only with my purchase. Good to know about the kohl’s cash, I never want to buy anymore so just end up tossing it, plus I feel they mark up items during the cash redemption so it really doesn’t make it worth it? Another thing that I have done is when the 15%, 20% or 30% off and I get a 15% I will google “30% off Kohl’s” and get the code to shop online.
I would like to ask you about your advice, last Christmas I bought a 14k gold necklace and I was very happy with my purchase until I decided to wear it on Thanksgiving day; shocking to knowest that my 14k gold necklace turns dark almost tarn, I went to Kohl’s near me only to heard that they refuse to exchange it or reimburse my money and they allege it`s been 11 months and send me to try it online, in which they also refused to help me. What hurts is that I pay thinking that what I choose it`s not what they advertise it was NOT 14k gold, and Kohl`s refused to stand up for their merchandise. any advice??? of what else I could do?. by the way I have been perusal your articles congratulation very informative thank you for that.
You forgot about the fact that you can use Kohl’s cash to purchase toys and beauty products getting them either for free or discounted with your Kohl’s cash. Also, my number one reason for purchasing beauty products at Kohl’s is if my beauty product isn’t a match, as long as I have only used a reasonable amount I can return or exchange the product for something else. No more draws filled with beauty products that were a miss… it is always a good idea to purchase beauty products at Kohl’s due to their excellent return policy on their beauty products.
