How To Smuggle Booze On A Cruise Ship?

During a cruise, there are several strategies to smuggle alcohol onboard. The best place to hide liquor is in your checked luggage, as it can be dropped off as needed. Other ways to disguise alcohol include keeping it close to you, using water bottles, and paying off room tabs in increments. Some cruise lines allow room tabs that can be paid off in increments.

There are also various ways to sneak alcohol through security checks before boarding, such as using mouthwash bottles, shampoo bottles, umbrella flasks, booze bra bra flasks, and fake sunscreen (sneak flask). The classic method involves emptying a bottle of wintergreen mouthwash, sterilizing the bottle with boiling water, and drying it before filling it with alcohol.

Mouthwash bottles are another popular way to hide alcohol on a cruise. The longest and most established way of smuggling alcohol on board is by taking existing toiletries and putting alcohol in the bottle. Security and port authorities have the right to remove any alcohol from your possession if you are not adhering to the cruise line’s alcohol policy. Carefully unseal a 12-pack box, place soda in visible areas and beer in the rest, and strongly reseal. Tint clear alcohol light blue or green and pour it into a clean mouthwash bottle to slip past security.

Another good way to smuggle booze on a cruise is to veil it with something many people are too embarrassed to question, like a mini bar. By following these strategies, cruise passengers can avoid getting caught and enjoy their drinks onboard the ship.

  • Even ordering a bottle of liquor precruise is way overpriced. They start at 80.00 per bottle and we are even talking premium. Greygoose was 120.00 for a fifth. When you are on a 7-8 day cruise drinking happens for those that do drink but having a 500.00 tab for the week on drinking alone is not cool.

  • I’ve done this before on a school trip, but I have a pro tip for you: Use peppermint liquor!! I’m not sure if you can buy this everywhere but I bought it here in Germany (it’s Called Pfeffi or Berliner Luft) and it actually tastes like mouth wash!! So even if you smell it or put some in your mouth, you’ll still think it’s Listerine

  • I used to work on a cruise ship and we used to do all sorts of things to get alcohol on board: -Put it inside a box a wrap it to look like a present – casks are way easier to smuggle, you can squeeze them inside other objects or suitcase lining – bottles and flasks for in well inside boots and shoes – we have been using the listerine trick for years – water bottles and vodka or white rum also work well – if you’re smuggling it make it COUNT; use higher percentage alcohols Plus many many more. Quite often the crew are put on 2 drink maximums per day x/

  • I’ve gone on two cruises before and have a third one coming up, and both times I have done exactly what this article says, except instead of the clear bottles, we use the dark bottle and take one with tequila and the other with vodka. Got through both times and plan on doing the same with this one coming up!

  • Lets say I do this with Gin or Vodka that was previously in an unopened bottle and that I don’t plan on drinking for a while. Can exposing it to the air or adding the food color cause it to eventually go bad while in the listerine bottle? Whenever I get hard liquor for a party it usually gets used up within a week so im not sure.

  • This is a good idea, but it gave me an idea I think is better. Put it in an empty gatorade bottle, gatorade comes in red and blue, so you wouldn’t have to mix colours trying to match it just use red or blue food colouring, and you could carry the gatorade bottle places like a beach, park, or camp ground.

  • Water bottles and apple juice worked for me, for smuggling white rum and chardonnay. In my experience when boarding the ship, they just x-ray your bags and as long as you don’t have anything that looks like a weapon they leave you be. But coming back you have to go though customs, and those guys scare me, so don’t bring back your leftovers.

  • If you or anyone you know has a food saver the best way to get alcohol on board a cruise ship is to seal alcohol in those so that it is about 1/2 inch thick laying flat then lay it in long pants, shirts, etc. The x-ray machine will see it as space only and the suitcase won’t be opened. Just make sure you don’t put any other suspicious items that will alert to open the case. Works on airplanes also.

  • here’s several things for cutting costs during cruise trips Look for restaurant special deals. Askonboard or keep an eye out for the occasional alternative restaurant deal to save money on a special meal. Book spa treatments on port days. Spas often discount services on days in port or during other slow times. Go on your own on shore trips. Cruise lines offer a variety of shore excursions in every port of call they visit but charge for them. Look for drink specials. If you don’t drink enough to make a ackage pay, look for special discounts. Bring your own drinks. Many lines are won’t let you bring alcohol onboard (or they’ll charge you a corkage fee), but a few let you bring on soft drinks, juice, bottled water and iced tea. (I read these and the reasons they work from Arack ship tips website )

  • You just fucked it up for the rest of use that does this on the sly! Now they can see the dam article too! Thanks! you couldn’t of just tolled your friends and keep it under wraps. I ve been doing this for years now. Now have to think of something else because they are going to check this every time 🙁 At least you forgot one important thing thats going to get people caught!

  • I think everyone is missing the point here… It’s great that the color matches the lister one but the real trick here was the way he opened the bottle to look like it was still sealed. That’s the reason security won’t check it and nothing else (Gatorade, hydrogen peroxide, etc.) will work quite the same

  • step one: get a sappy, terrible and long ass book (preferably twilight) step two: cut out a nice big, deep cuboid shape in the middle of the book step three: sign it with some fancy celebrity handwriting step four: put a flask in that crevice, give book to sis and enjoy her screaming when they try take it off her.

  • I would like to see you drinking a whole bottle of listerine 😀 You would throw up and you are not really drunk… Ethanol is the only alcholol the human body can change into other chemical stuff. Methanol and Isopropyl cannot be changed into other things like ethanol. But that does not mean you will get drunk forever. So it is not so good to drink listerine or other stuff like window cleaner.

  • Am I missing something here since my last Ocean Cruise? Are we taking Gilligan’s Island cruises or something? Why would you even WANT to smuggle alcohol onto a cruise boat? Is it just because being cheap and want to save a bit ? Last cruise I was on, it was sold with ease. Most major liguors were freely sold, with almost no restrictions once out to sea, just at premium prices. I understand they may charge 5 to 10+ dollars for a mixed drink, but for a ” vacation cruise ” is that not expected? Being “thrifty” is one thing, but …. bleh… maybe rules have changed….
