To acquire a fleet of frigates, players can approach other freighters in other systems and approach them and their fleets. Any recruit-able shield will have a small green ship icon on them. Fly close enough to these frigates, and they will try to call you. Answer the call, inspect them, and decide if you want to buy them or not. You can have a total of 30 frigates.

Frigates are larger than single-user starships but smaller than freighters. A player can own up to 30 frigates once Talon of Yagai is completed. They can be found with 10, 11, 12, and 13 starting stats. The real trick with frigates is finding out what their bonuses will be.

To hire a frigate, players must travel close to the frigate’s position and use their intercom (via quick menu) to talk to the captain and choose the option to hire their services. Don’t rush to start doing the frigate missions. Amass your fleet first, as you have a universe of time. Once all units come together, units will appear.

Fly close to a frigate labeled with the Recruitable Frigate tag and your communications channel with ping you. Open up communication with the frigate in a freighter group. Approach a recruitable frigate and speak with them on the Starship Communicator.

For each type of frigate, players should have Combat x6, Industrial x7, Support x6, and Trade x2. More types of frigates are needed for better fleet management.
