For anyone wondering it is used as a key to a secret room, which you pass after the ending scene(assuming you choose the altarnate ending), the secret room contains an artifact ball which can be placed in the ground or held in hand and toggled to either make enimes hostile and spawn them close or make them run away and be passive.
