Sam Brownback, an American politician and the 46th Governor of Kansas, has been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1995–96) and the U.S. Senate since 2018. He was sworn in as Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom on February 1, 2018, and served as Governor of Kansas from 2011 to 2018. Brownback has steadily climbed the political ladder over the past 25 years, moving through the roles of congressman, senator, and governor.
In 2017, Brownback delivered his State of the State address to the Kansas Legislature in Topeka. He hopes that construction of new boat ramps along the Kansas River will draw more people to the waterway. Brownback is also planning to hold a news conference to outline the Kansas River Development.
One of the least popular governors in the country is leaving his post to take a new position with the Trump administration. Brownback plans to hold a news conference at a river access boat ramp behind Cedar Crest to outline the Kansas River Development.
Another notable event in Brownback’s life is the case of a man who was killed while on a boat at Lake Antelope in 2011. Brownback is also naming a four-lane stretch of U.S. Highway 400 west and southeast of Neodesha, Kansas, the Pack St. Clair Highway.
In addition to his political career, Brownback has appointed Gary Hayzlett to a four-year term on the Commission. Hayzlett served in the Kansas House of Representatives and was substituted for Brownback at Governors Day at the Kansas State Fair.
