How To Get Rid Of Diving Beetles In Pool?

To effectively get rid of water bugs in your pool, follow these steps:

1. Clean your pool thoroughly and remove any leaves and plant matter that falls in. Diving beetles lay eggs on the underside of leaves, while Japanese beetles feed on fallen leaves. Remove foreign matter as soon as it falls in to avoid contamination.

2. Use a swimming pool algaecide that contains non-ionic ethoxylate to break the surface tension of the water, allowing diving beetles to capture it under their wings.

3. Vacuum the pool floor, clean the walls and filtration system, and remove debris from the surface of the water.

4. Remove backswimmers, giant water bugs, and predaceous diving beetles from your pool.

5. Eliminate the cause of the bugs, whether it is stagnant water, mosquito larvae, or caddisfly larva.

6. Clean your filters regularly and check the pump for build-up. Run your pump for approximately 6-8 hours a day.

7. Use a bucket of water and add a small amount of oil to remove the beetles from your pool and drop them into the bucket. The oil in the water will cause them to drown.

8. Tip: They are drawn to light, so at night time, putting your pool light on should help you catch them easier.

9. Balance your water chemistry by scrubbering the algae off the sides and bottoms of the pool, then adding bleach or hydrogen peroxide.

10. Kill the bugs at the source with nematodes to have a nicer lawn and less bugs in your pool.

By cutting off their food source, you can eliminate backswimmers, which feed on other water bugs, including boatmen and beetles. Add dish soap to the pool, use a skimmer, vacuum the pool, and kill them with chlorine tablets. Dispose of old or unused chlorine tablets and brush the pool using an algae brush.

In summary, removing water bugs from your pool requires careful cleaning, prevention measures, and proper use of chemicals and tools.
