How Many Cruise Next Certificates Can I Use?

CruiseNext is an exclusive program that offers a free Non-Refundable Onboard Credit (OBC) to use on your current cruise vacation in exchange for purchasing a 250 CruiseNext Credit for a future Norwegian cruise of three days or longer. The amount of CruiseNext Credits can be used towards all Norwegian sailings of three days or longer, so purchase onboard and redeem towards your next cruise(s). However, there is a limit to the number of CNDs that can be used on any one cruise.

NCL sometimes offers a special where you must use it on the cruise when you purchase the CruiseNext certificate, which will be applied directly to your on-board ship balance. You can take advantage of up to 500 onboard credit on your current cruise by purchasing deposits for your next cruise.

CruiseNext Credits (CNC) and CruiseNext Haven Credits (CNHC) can only be applied to new future cruise reservations of 3 days or longer. CruiseNext holders can redeem up to 2 CRUISENEXT deposits on ANY stateroom and receive all five free offers, including Unlimited Open Bar more.

CruiseFirst certificates expire in three years, not four like CruiseNext, and cannot be used at the same time as a CruiseNext certificate. The primary purpose of a CruiseNext certificate is as a deposit for a new cruise reservation.

  • I just got off NCL epic 2 weeks ago and bought 1 cruise next I was given the option to pay $250 and have my deposit doubled to $500 or pay the $250 and take $100 onboard credit. I was also told that if I booked the cruise I wanted right then and there with the certificate I just bought that I would get a cabin upgrade on whatever cabin I booked. I was also told by the cruisenext staff that if you don’t use all the onboard credit they give you while on your cruise they will take the remaining balance and put it towards the booking you made.

  • OK I’m sailing in December and want to buy Cruise Next credits to book a cruise through Europe in May, 2025. How many CruiseNext Credits will they let me purchase. And, I can’t reasonably spend that many onboard credits during my December trip. I wonder if the credits would help me that much. Or if I’m just spinning my wheels, so to speak.

  • @Cruising with Eric, The $250 non-refundable credit match from the $500, can it be used for things from the ship gift shop, ship restraurnts, shore excursions or gratuity fees only? What is it that is it cannot be used for? As you said I dont want to waste it by not using it at the end of the cruise and it wont be going back on your credit card, right? Just need to clairfy

  • Hi, thank you for the article. I was recently on NCL and bought 8 CruiseNext certificates. I was told they were for OBC. So, when I book another cruise with NCL, either with them directly or with a 3rd party agent, do I need to advise regarding the certificates or they will be added automatically in my account? tnx
