The Diving Tank is a crucial item in Rust, designed to hold a supply of air for underwater exploration. It can be found in crates and cannot be researched due to their lack of a blueprint. To refill it, players must go to a workbench and press the “y” button. The Diving Tank can be found in loot crates or purchased for 35 scrap at the Fishing Village. Diving fins are also recommended and can be used to control the RUST Dive Master Missions.
Getting to underwater labs is half the battle, and diving equipment is essential for survival. Players need an oxygen tank, wetsuit, and diving mask. Subs can be repaired using a hammer, which costs about 5 metal frags per hit. A 30-second process is required to refill the Diving Tank.
Another solution is to use Rust-Mort, which kills rust and turns it into black iron. The tank should then be coated with several coats. Light surface rust is fine, but fine dustflakes are acceptable. If rust makes a small bumpknob in the tank, the inspector needs to inspect it.
An oxygen tank that allows breathing underwater for a period of time can be refilled at a workbench. If there is rust in the cylinder, it must be drummed or blasted internally, a technique that removes internal rust.

How do you refill a water tank?
- Install the man-way cover complete with a new gasket (do not use dope on the gasket surface)
- Close the tank drain
- Open the cold-water feed valve at the tank. Only open it approximately ¼ to ½ to fill the tank slowly.
- Open either the bleeder on the hot out line, or prop open the pressure relief valve to allow the air to be removed from the tank while your filling.
- All other valves attached to the tank should remain closed while filling the tank.
- Once the water starts to come out of the bleeder or the relief valve then close them and allow the tank to return to pressure.
- Ensure there are no leaks at the man-way cover. If so, you will need to drain the tank again and reseat the man-way cover properly.
- If the tank is boiler fed you can open the valves that go to and from the boiler(s) and turn on the boiler pumps.
- Slowly open the hot out valve at the top of the tank to pressurize the system
- Turn on the boilers or open the valves and pumps for the heat exchanger to heat the water
- Attach a hose to the bleeder connected to the recirc pump unless the bleeder is plumbed into the drain.
- Leave the valve shut on the recirc line that is closest to the tank and make sure the other valve is open. Bleed the air / water out of the recirc line until you start getting warmer water and all of the air is gone.
- Turn off the valve to the bleeder on the recirc line, open the valve on the other side of the pump and turn on the recirc pump.
- If you have other recirc pumps or booster heaters on other floors you can go turn them on and bleed the air from those lines as well if possible. If after the tank is full and you still have a few areas that do not have hot water in the building you may have an air lock and may need to bleed more air out of the system from the highest point possible.

How long does a dive tank last?
But it’s more complex than that: how much air a diver consumes obviously depends on their level of physical exertion. But how long a scuba tank lasts also directly depends on the depth at which it’s used. Based on personal experience, an average open water certified diver using a standard aluminum 80-cubic-foot tank on a 40-foot dive will be able to stay down for about 45 minutes before surfacing with a safe reserve of air.
What Factors Determine How Long the Air in a Scuba Tank Will Last?
One of the most common tanks in recreational diving is the aluminum 80-cubic-foot tank, which holds 80 cubic feet of air compressed to 3000 pounds per a square inch. However, scuba tanks are available in different sizes and materials for a variety of applications (learn more about the difference between steel and aluminum tanks). Divers who engage in very deep or long dives may prefer tanks with a greater internal volume. Petite divers who use very little air may choose to use smaller tanks for comfort. All other factors being equal, a tank that holds a higher volume of air will last longer underwater.
How to clean a scuba tank?
Many people, including some scuba store operators, feel that proper cylinder and valve O2 cleaning can be accomplished by simply filing the tank with commercial cleaning solutions and rolling the cylinder around for several minutes. The solution is then washed from the cylinder and the cylinder dried.

How to use an oxygen tank in Rust?
If you are looting only top crates on water it is handy to have if a gang arrives. As well as Cargo or Oil Rig if you are solo or not willing to take the fight but want to keep the loot.
Can you remove oxygen from rust?
Removing the oxygen from iron oxide is relatively straightforward, though not exactly easy – you just smelt it (carbothermic reduction). We’ve know how to do that for thousands of years. However, assuming that you’re planning some kind of large scale terraforming project, this isn’t really satisfactory.
Is it OK to leave scuba tanks full?
- Do not store tanks that are full of air for prolonged periods of time (no more than 3 months. Atankshould be stored with just enough pressure (200 psi) to keep moisture out. Remember the higher thetankpressure, the greater the corrosion that may form inside.
- Yourtankshould receive a visual inspection at least once a year. If thetankis in constant use or in constantly filled around salt air, then it should be visually inspected every three to six months.
- You must have thetankhydrostatically tested at least once every five years. This should only be performed by a reputable hydro testing facility that is able to totally service yourtank, include testing, cleaning, drying, zinc coating, and painting.
- Always give yourtanka fresh water rinse before putting it away. Be sure thetankvalve is closed when running water over it.
- Do not overfill yourtankpast stamped ratings. This place too much stress on the metal, causing thetankto weaken over a period of time. Overfilling atanktime after time is hazardous and can weaken the metal.
- Avoid rough handling that will cause dents, gouges or nicks in thetank. This can invite corrosion of the metal and can also weaken the cylinder.
- Always store tanks in a vertical position unless otherwise recommended by a visual inspector. If there is any moisture in thetank, corrosion may form at the bottom of thetank, which is the thickest part of thetankwall.
- If you see or smell anything coming out of thetankvalve, corrosion or contamination may be suspected. If you rap on the side of thetankand hear anything rattling around inside, thetankmust be opened for a visual inspection.
- If water is found inside thetank, but corrosion has not yet become pronounced, thetankcan be rinsed in fresh water or steam cleaned, then dried thoroughly with warm air. It is always best to let a qualified inspector determine the extent of the corrosion.
- If you suspect anything wrong with your scuba cylinder, always have it visually inspected by a professional dive shop or a reputable repair facility.
The obvious way to prevent corrosion in both aluminum and steel tanks is to prevent water from coming in contact with thetankmetal for any length of time. The following recommendations will insure that water will not have a chance to damage yourtank.
Never drain the air completely out of a scuba cylinder, and never leave the valve open if you do. If you do drain atankcompletely dry during a dive, close thetankvalve immediately. Then, at the earliest opportunity, the valve should be removed to check for water in the interior of thetank.

How do you fill a tank?
Pull the trigger on the pump to activate the gasoline. Squeeze the trigger on the pump nozzle gently, allowing gasoline to flow out of the hose and into your fuel tank. On most pumps, you can lock the trigger to let the gas flow continuously and make it easier on your hand.
Full-service gas stations are increasingly scarce. Self-service can be quite a bit faster, and knowing how to fill your tank up properly can also help you save a bit of money, making it the most informed and speedy choice. You can learn to operate the pump, select the most appropriate variety of gasoline, and complete the process to get on your way quickly and safely. See Step 1 for more information.
Pull up with your gas tank opening as close as possible to the pump, making sure you pull up on the correct side (your dashboard should feature an indicator displaying which side of your vehicle the tank is located on, if you aren’t familiar). Since it’s dangerous to pump gas with your car running, you need to turn off the ignition and get out of the car.
- Make sure you’re at the correct variety of pump. Some pumps are designated for Diesel vehicles only, while some pump regular gas only, and some pump both. Pumps that pump both kinds of gas will have two nozzles on each side.
- Practice good pump safety. Before you pull up to the pump, put out any cigarettes that might cause a fire hazard around the gas and leave your cellphone in the car. Cell static has been linked to several gas station flare-ups.
How much scrap for a diving tank?
Scubagear in Rust’s Fishing Villages Shopkeepers also sell scuba gear. A wetsuit costs 20 scrap, while diving masks, fins, and tanks all cost 25 scrap individually. None of these items can be crafted, and they all will come in handy while diving.
Rust justlaunched its September update, and along with its updates to workbenches, vehicles, and storage monitors, players can now visit fishing villages to purchase water-themed items. These areas are new to the game and show the potential to be expanded upon further in future updates.
Fishing Villages can be found along the shoreline, and have a variety of items available that may be able to help players. There are two small villages and one large village. They are also safe zones, so players will not be able to engage in combat in these locations. If they attempt to, they will be shot down by peacekeeper turrets. Start a conversation with a shopkeeper to see what they have for sale, and it will quickly appear nearby after it is purchased.
Players can now purchase boats and other water-related vehicles from shopkeepers in fishing villages. These items will no longer spawn around the map; they can only be purchased in the villages. One of the vehicles that players can purchase from a shopkeeper is an RHIB’s (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat). This boat has five passenger seats and a driver’s seat. There is also a small chest to store items in. On top of that, the RHIB has a bulletproof windshield and takes low-grade fuel. RHIB’s can be purchased for 400 scrap.
Do dive tanks expire?
Tank Condition. An older, battered tank might have issues with leaking, which can change how long your tank will last underwater.
Most SCUBA tanks last for about 20 years, as long as they’re properly cared for and inspected. If you have a steel tank that is properly maintained, it could last over 50 years.
