Does Carnival Cruise Line Still Require A Covid Test?

Carnival Cruise Line has updated its COVID-19 testing standards, extending the window for pre-cruise testing for eligible guests as of March 1, 2022. Vaccinated cruises are available for guests, and vaccinated guests must continue to provide evidence of their vaccination status prior to embarkation. Pre-cruise testing is no longer required, except for cruises. The updated protocols include lab-administered tests and self-testing for unvaccinated guests on cruises 15 nights and shorter. Certain destinations do not require testing. Unvaccinated guests or those who do not provide proof of vaccination must present the results of a negative PCR or antigen test taken within three days.

Carnival Cruise Line encourages all guests, aged 5 years and older, to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines when eligible and carry proof of vaccination. Testing is not required for either vaccinated or unvaccinated guests, but they must take an additional antigen test at embarkation and test again within 24 hours of debarkation on all cruises longer than 4 days. Guests who have obtained their VeriFLY pass must still complete the online check-in process on Carnival.com, bring their travel documents, and VeriFLY pass (digital).

Pre-cruise testing is no longer required, except for cruises to Canada, Bermuda, Greece, and Australia (per local guidelines), and on voyages. Testing is not required for either vaccinated or unvaccinated guests, but all guests aged five and older are encouraged to take a pre-cruise COVID-19 test within three days of their cruise.

Can you go on a cruise without being vaccinated?

Do You Need To Be Vaccinated To Go on a Cruise? Most major cruise lines do not require guests to be vaccinated unless they’re traveling from or to a destination that requires it. Still, there are exceptions. Some cruise lines encourage vaccination even though they don’t require it.

A cruise can be a fun way to visit certain areas of the world at a slower pace. Before embarking on a cruise, it’s important to know what the cruise vaccine requirements are, which can vary by cruise line.

Sometimes, you can board a cruise ship without being vaccinated for illnesses like COVID. However, specific policies vary, and sometimes people who are unvaccinated have extra requirements. Here’s what you need to know about vaccinations and going on a cruise.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends having up-to-date routine vaccines—which can vary by age, health, and history of vaccinations—before cruising. Those routine vaccines might be for conditions or germs such as:

What is needed for cruise check in?

Documents needed for cruisers to board a shipIdentification. … Boarding passes. … Health information. … Visas and other destination-specific documents. … Cruise line luggage tags. … Permission to travel. … Other travel information. … Emergency contacts.

Boarding a cruise ship isn’t like boarding a city bus or hopping on the subway. Because cruises involve international travel, you won’t be allowed to sail if you don’t have all the proper cruise documents and identification. That means you’ll want to know exactly what to take with you and, once you have a list, double- and triple-check it to ensure you haven’t forgotten anything.

The check-in process can be intimidating if you haven’t gone through it before. You might wonder what, exactly, cruise documents are, which ones you need and how you obtain them.

Gear up for a successful and stress-free embarkation day, and make sure you have all the necessary items on hand and ready to go with this guide.

What documents do I need to cruise on Carnival?

  • Your paper or digital airline tickets, if you are flying to your cruise departure port
  • Your cruise documents
  • Your passport, an enhanced driver’s license or a government-issued birth certificate to show proof of citizenship (take photos of these documents in case of loss)
  • A certificate of vaccination (if required)
  • A medical insurance card and your medical history
  • Copies of your prescriptions and a list of all medications you’re taking

On the first day of your cruise, it may take a few hours for your luggage to be delivered to your stateroom, but you don’t have to wait to have fun. Stuff a carry-on backpack with essentials like your cell phone, wallet, bathing suit and sunglasses, and start swimming, sunning or exploring your ship immediately. When it’s time for shore excursions, pack this handy tote with everything you’ll need for the day and save space for a few souvenirs you’ll pick up along the way.

Chances are, you’ll enjoy every day of your cruise in perfect health, but it’s good to be prepared for small ailments that might pop up like a scratchy throat, a headache or a blister. Bring along a small toiletry bag packed with pain relievers, cough drops, allergy medicine, adhesive bandages, antacids, antiseptic wipes, antibacterial hand gel and seasickness remedies like pills, wrist bands, skin patches or ginger chews.

Can I bring snacks on a Carnival cruise?

This is what Carnival officially says about it: Due to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention, any food items brought on board must be pre-packaged and unopened. Homemade items or pre-cooked foods are not allowed.

I know some people bring their own food and snacks on board and it’s usually ok if it is unopened. Hubby and I have a layover in Chicago and would love to grab some popcorn. Since it’s not a factory sealed, just bagged up, would that be allowed?

Assuming you are talking about purchasing it at the airport. Both Ohare and Midway have popcorn stores that sell packaged popcorn.

Chicago popcorn means Garrett’s. Maybe if you get the tin can? I may have booked a flight or two through Chicago just for Garrett’s.
