Well based on the hype I tried Portillo’s the #2 = 2 Chicago hotdogs @ the Kissimmee Location. It rates a 5 on a 5-10 scale…. lukewarm at best, veg’s were fresh, and poppy seed bun was good.. But the DOG, eh ! I’d give it a 4 on the 1-10 scale. Prices were OK overall, It was just barely OK at best, I doubt I’ll go back. I also had the small Onion Ring, not all that either, I had way better onion rings.
Born and raised Chicago here. I can count on one hand the number of times I have been to Portillo’s. They have a decent Beef but you can get a good dog just about anywhere in Chicago without waiting twenty minutes. Exceptions are; Gene And Judes, Wiener Circle and Bills. The old Fluky’s was great. Superdawg, which I currently live near is as overrated as Portillo’s. I have a saying; never pay for something you can do. I get all the needed participants for Chicago dogs and done. Portillo’s isn’t even that anymore. It is Berkshire. Go to Brown’s Chicken, if you can find one. The Brothers’ Portillo couldn’t manage their success nor their jealousy towards each other but ‘Portillo’s is everywhere and Brown’s is worth the search.
