The Port Phillip Yacht Club, established in 1903, is one of Australia’s most progressive and awarded yacht clubs. It began sailing at Sandringham Harbour in 1903 and adopted the burgee that we fly today – a red diagonal on a white background. The club has grown to a peak fleet size of 18 boats in the 1980s and has remained part of the Intermediate and Senior Off The Beach categories.
Located in the heart of Sandringham Harbour on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay, the Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) is one of Australia’s most progressive and awarded yacht clubs, presenting world-class sporting and event facilities right on the waters edge. The new 2,700m2 building, costing 12.75 million, opened its doors in an all-day and evening extravaganza attended by an overwhelming crowd.
The club has been a part of the Intermediate and Senior Off The Beach classes since 1976. The clubhouse, which was constructed on the pre-existing car park and hardstand and rigging area, offers a 356 berth floating marina, Boating Academy, waterfront support services, newly built clubhouse, and reciprocal rights with yacht clubs worldwide.
The club also offers a large floating marina, a newly built clubhouse, and function center, offering the Melbourne sailing community an incomparable membership facility. The clubhouse opened its doors in an all-day and evening extravaganza attended by an overwhelming crowd.
