What are the different levels of Iberostar?

Iberostar has a four-tier rating system for all of its resorts: the Grand Collection, Premium Gold, Premium, and Standard. On the Riviera Maya five different properties are located on one big complex – so all are within the same easy reach of the Mayan ruins and Cancun, for example – offering a total of 2,000 rooms all together. The difference between each is in facilities, services and price. Here’s how it breaks down on the Riviera Maya.

At the Grand Hotel Paraíso mid-November rates start at around $400 per night (double occupancy) with a three-night minimum stay. Guests at this adults-only, all-suite resort can make use of all the facilities (including three pools, a golf course and spa) as well as those of all four other resorts on the complex. An added perk of the Grand Collection is the included butler service.

The next step down is the Premium Gold-level, all-suiteParaíso Maya, a family-focused resort where rates start at $300 (double occupancy with a minimum three-night stay). The Maya has nine pools and five restaurants. Guests of the Maya are welcome to also make use of the facilities in the three lower ranking resorts.

Is snorkeling better in Cancun or Cozumel?

The island of Cozumel is much more laid back than Cancun. The town is much smaller and the pace feels slower. Cozumel is the best place for scuba diving and snorkeling as the second-largest barrier reef system in the world (the Mesoamerican reef) runs right alongside the island.

Can you snorkel off the beach in Cozumel?

Our favorite shore snorkel on the North end is Club Cozumel Caribe. It is a very easy drift snorkel with lots of fish and sea life for viewing. The entry is from a nice platform, but the exit is a very nice shoreline. Plus the facilities are very nice for your breakfast, lunch, or afternoon snack. You will be charged an entrance fee. But keep your receipt and they will deduct it from your tab at the end of the day!

Snorkelers on the north end of the island should also be aware that the currents here will always be pushing out into the channel towards Cancun –not towards land as they do on the south end of Cozumel.

Southern Shore Snorkeling. There’s good snorkeling from The Barracuda Hotel & Blue Angel as you head south from town. Club Cozumel Caribe, Turquesa and Monima as you head north from town.

Is it better Isla Mujeres or Cozumel?

Is Cozumel better than Isla Mujeres? Both Cozumel and Isla Mujeres offer unique experiences. Cozumel is larger with renowned diving sites, while Isla Mujeres boasts a laid-back vibe and pristine beaches. The “better” choice depends on individual preferences for activities and ambiance.
