Alaska offers numerous opportunities for glacier kayaking, including Sewards Resurrection Bay and the nearby Kenai Fjords National Park. Prince William Sound can be accessed from Whittier or Valdez, while Spencer Glacier near Anchorage and Kachemak Bay outside of Homer The Inside Passage can be reached from Sitka and Ketchikan. Waterfalls cascade off cliffs so high that the water appears to fall in slow motion. Kenai Fjords National Park offers kayaking opportunities in Aialik Glacier, Holgate Glacier, and Northwestern Fjord. Colombia Bay is considered one of the best spots for glacier kayaking in Alaska.
Soup Glacier Marine State Park in Prince William offers kayaking trips near Beloit Glacier, 17 Mile Lagoon, and Eagle’s Nest beaches. For a closer, quieter, and more peaceful version of the Alaskan glacier and wildlife cruise, sea kayaking can be a great option. Paddling around icebergs and up close to the Spencer glacier terminus face is also possible. Mornings at Spencer Glacier are the most serene and magnificent time to paddle. Glacier Bay Sea Kayaks, an NPS concession in Glacier Bay National Park, provides unguided kayaking experiences.
