What port does Carnival use?

Carnival cruise ports of call include Grand Cayman, Mahogany Bay, Nassau, Costa Maya, Belize, Key West, Yucatán (Progreso), Cozumel, Montego Bay, Falmouth, Limón, and Colón (Panama Canal).

Everyone should visit the Caribbean at least once in a lifetime. Just hearing the word “Caribbean” evokes the sights and sounds of the islands – white sandy beaches, blue waters, cheerful music, and glasses clinking. But, with more than 700 islands, inlets and cays, the Caribbean offers far more than just beautiful beaches. Our Caribbean cruise destinations are filled with excursions, adventures, and cultural experiences that celebrate this sunny part of the world.

Caribbean cruise routes cover three major regions: Western, Eastern, and Southern. Carnival cruises sail year-round to the entire region. If you’re not sure what islands are in the Western, Eastern or Southern Caribbean, our “Caribbean cruise maps” will tell you about all the fun to be had in every destination. Here we go!

Adventure seekers – head to the Western Caribbean right away! This little slice of heaven is ready to thrill you with water sports, hiking, and underwater adventures. Don’t worry, there’s always a place to enjoy that relaxing cocktail with a view, too.

What is the earliest boarding time for a Carnival cruise?

Boarding begins roughly between 10 and 11 a.m., depending on the ship’s schedule and how long it takes everyone from the last cruise to debark. Most cruise ships require all passengers to be on board no fewer than two hours before the scheduled departure time, which is almost always in the late afternoon or evening.

The best time to board a cruise ship is obviously when there are few lines and short waits. The trick is knowing when that will be.

Unfortunately, it can vary from port to port and ship to ship, but I prefer arriving in the early afternoon, usually around 1 or 2 p.m.

Can you walk to cruise port in New Orleans?

If you are staying at a hotel in the port area and want to walk to the port, it can be a little tricky. On a map it looks like you can just walk through the New Orleans Convention Center, but you can’t. You actually have to walk around it. You don’t want to walk the wrong way because the convention center is quite large.

If you are staying at Hilton Riverside you can walk through the Riverwalk Mall. If you’re staying at the Embassy Suites or one of the Convention Center hotels, you can walk around the convention center.

If you’re walking from Hilton Riverside to the port you’re going to want to walk through the riverwalk mall. After you cross the Hilton Riverside Skywalk which is next to the front desk, you can take the escalator down to the Riverwalk Mall entrance.

  • I used to do the same thing the Hop when I entered onto the ship but when I was boarding the Vista I did the Hop and I ended up blowing out my knee I needed to use one of those stupid scooters the entire trip I could barely walk I had to pay extra for the scooter just because I tried to do the stupid bunny hop onto the ship

  • Hey Jason and Kelli. I sailed on the Carnival Dream out of New Orleans just prior to the shutdown. It was an absolute “NIGHTMARE.” There was construction going on in the Cruise Port area as well as some roads that fed in into the general area. Although I flew in the day before and stayed at a nearby hotel it took me over an hour by cab to go only a few blocks to the Cruise Port. I probably will NOT ever Cruise out of New Orleans again!
