The Port of Baltimore has announced the reopening dates for several limited access, shallow channels in Baltimore Harbor. A temporary navigational channel, 280 feet wide and 35 feet deep, is expected to be operational by the end of April 2024. Governor Moore expressed gratitude to the men and women of Unified Command for working around the clock to quickly and safely reopen the 700-foot-wide channel. Commercial shipping traffic through the Port of Baltimore is expected to return to normal levels next month. All vessel traffic in and out of the port was suspended in the wake of the collapse, but it has remained open for trucks. Royal Caribbean International’s Vision of the Seas ship will depart on May 25th for a fantastic 5 cruise. The US Coast Guard Captain of the Port announced that the Fort McHenry Limited Access Channel will be open from Thursday, April 25, until May 25th. The main channel out of the Port of Baltimore will be open by May 25th, according to Royal Caribbean. Carnival Cruise Line announced it will resume sailing from the port on Sunday. Engineers are aiming to reopen the full Port of Baltimore channel by the end of May, restoring port access to normal capacity.
