What To Eat Before Sailing?

Expedition Foods is a well-known brand of freeze-dried and vacuum-pack meals, popular among sailors, rowers, mountaineers, and adventurers. They offer a wide range of dried and wet food, ration packs, gels, and snacks with information about calorie intake. A combination of pasta and salads is always suitable, such as lasagna and a simple Cesar salad or spaghetti with assorted vegetables.

Healthy eating on a boat is essential for maintaining energy levels, supporting muscle recovery, and preventing illness or injury. A well-balanced diet can help stay alert and focused during sailing trips. To ensure a successful sailing trip, it is important to choose non-perishable and shelf-stable foods, such as pre-sliced fruits and vegetables, frozen grapes, snack-sized bags of chips, ready-made sandwiches and wraps, and a charcuterie platter with veggies and hummus, crackers, and various cheeses and fruits.

A light breakfast before setting sail is essential to avoid motion sickness and avoid acidic, greasy, and spicy foods. Ideas include a sandwich with lean meat, chicken, and salad, or pasta with chicken or beef. Mild, starchy foods should be avoided, and heavy, spicy, or fat-rich foods or excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided.

To prepare your body for sailing, start removing sugar, dairy, meat, processed foods, sodas, coffee, and alcohol 2-3 days before the trip. Focus on drinking purified water and eating small portions of low-fat, low-fat foods. If you feel queasy, snack on saltine crackers or small amounts of candied peppermint or ginger.
