The Historic Canoa Ranch in southern Arizona is a historic site that showcases the Manning family legacy and the historic Canoa Ranch empire. The ranch is located on the Raúl M. Grijalva Canoa Ranch Conservation Park, which comprises 4,800 acres of the original San Ignacio de la Canoa Grant. Hacienda de la Canoa, the 30-acre ranch headquarters, was named in the 1920s. Visitors can take virtual tours or in-person tours to explore the historic ranch buildings and retaque corrals.
The ranch is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and offers environmental education programs such as bird walks and stargazing events. Reservations are required for tours and environmental education programs. The Canoa Ranch Rest Area is a recommended first stop for visitors visiting the Canoa Heritage Area, offering free admission and guided tours by local volunteers.
The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9:30 am and 3:30 pm, with a $5 admission fee for adults and free admission for children. Admission to the heritage area can be controlled using hand stamps, and tours cost $5 and must be purchased online. Parking is free and located next to Canoa Lake and the Historic Canoa Ranch.
The Canoa Ranch Rest Area features an art display that tells the story of the land, tribes, and cultural influences in a beautiful setting. Visitors can also enjoy a guided tour of the gardens of Historic Canoa Ranch with Raydine Taber from the Green Valley Gardeners, designed for ages 12 and up.
The ranch’s cultural history and recreational offerings contribute to its 35% heritage area admissions and 15% parking income.
