Our Unique Airbnb in Brisbane City
We were given the opportunity to spend a long weekend in Brisbane to discover all the art and culture the city has to offer. Choosing the best Airbnb was a fun task as there were so many amazing choices. To make our choice of Airbnb properties easier we had a list of MUST haves. We wanted a place that was walking distance to the centre of the city, a place that offered privacy, was in a quiet location and it had to be quirky and unusual. We found the perfect place on Airbnb which made for the most wonderful weekend.
Inner City Brisbane Home
The two storey Airbnb home was called an ‘Inner City Haven’ and ‘Enviro-Luxury’. A main feature of the home was that it was eco-friendly and built with environmental consideration. The design of the home is focused on capturing light and keeping the home warm in winter and cool in summer. There are fans and heaters to use but we found the home to be the perfect temperature.
One side of the home was mainly glass with a beautiful cooper sculptural piece covering the bedroom for privacy. The lounge had no covering which allowed in lots of light. The shower was also enclosed in glass with no door so being in the house with someone you are comfortable with is a must. We loved the fluffy white towels in the bathroom and the organic bathroom products available for guests. The bedroom also had a large wardrobe which we put to good use hanging up our clothes so we felt more at home. The bed has beautiful white linens and fantastic pillows (I am super fussy about pillows and these were wonderful), the bed itself was ultra comfortable. We both slept very well and woke to the natural morning light.
Our Hosts
The hosts left us organic muesli, yoghurt, fruit, organic bread for the toaster with an avocado for breakfast along with coffee and milk. We loved the touch of leaving some organic dark chocolate which was a lovely evening treat. We had the option of using the dishwasher for our plates of leaving them for the hosts to magically wash up!
The communication with our host Phil, was easy and all messages were responded to quickly. We arrived late and we had easy instructions on how to let ourselves into the home and we were able to park our car off the street in the driveway. We had the chance to meet Phil and have a quick chat about the property. The Airbnb home is at the back of the host’s property which didn’t pose a problem and we felt like we were in a very private location. When guests are in the Airbnb property, the main house has its curtains drawn so there isn’t a chance to see the hosts or to be seen through the glass.
Location
Our aim was to leave the car in the driveway for the weekend and explore Brisbane city on foot. We were able to walk to the centre of the city from our Airbnb property including all the art galleries, restaurants and the Brisbane River. There was a pub within a few minute walk which was great for a late dinner and drink. We also walked to Fortitude Valley for dinner, drink and a game of mini golf.
We quickly fell in love with our Brisbane home and the quirkiness and uniqueness that it offered. Highly recommend visiting Brisbane and staying here. What a find! Thanks Airbnb for giving us this opportunity to choose our own property to spend the weekend in. We were guests of Airbnb but all our honest opinions are our own.
