Is It Currently Safe To Fly To Atlanta, Georgia?

The Atlanta Police Department provides crime mapping on its website to help travelers find their preferred attractions and neighborhoods. While there are no perfectly safe parts of the Atlanta area, some areas have increased risk due to crime, military activity, terrorism, civil unrest, and landmines.

Atlanta is generally safe, especially in popular areas like Midtown, Downtown, and Buckhead, which are well-patrolled and violent crime is relatively rare. However, there are no restrictions for travel to, from, or within Georgia at this time. If you leave your home, you must follow public health safety measures and local laws.

The Georgia State Patrol is issuing a travel safety advisory for this weekend due to heavy traffic throughout the state. Do not travel to the Russian-occupied Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia due to crime risks. Exercise a high degree of caution in Tbilisi due to ongoing large-scale demonstrations and clashes between security forces and protestors.

The majority of flight delays and cancellations in Georgia are weather-related, with conditions like precipitation, wind, and fog greatly affecting safety and enjoyment. Protests are common in Georgia, including Tbilisi, so tourists should avoid public protests and demonstrations. Transport and essential services may be disrupted.

Passport validity is required at the time of entry, and one page is required for an entry stamp. A tourist visa is not required for Georgia. The FCDO travel advice includes safety and security, insurance, entry requirements, and legal differences.

To plan your next trip to Atlanta, check travel alerts from your destination before your trip and stay informed about health and safety precautions.

I am a school teacher who was bitten by the travel bug many decades ago. My husband Billy has come along for the ride and now shares my dream to travel the world with our three children. The kids Pollyanna, 13, Cooper, 12 and Tommy 9 are in love with plane trips (thank goodness) and discovering new places, experiences and of course Disneyland.
