This step-by-step guide outlines the process of installing or removing the third row seat and seatbelt assembly on Ford Expedition SUVs. The procedure involves removing two T25 Torx screws at the rear of the seat base, four large bolts that secure the seat, folding the seats back up, removing electrical connectors, and taking out front bolts on the legs from the front of the vehicle.
The guide also discusses the removal of the big plastic covers running down the sides of the cargo/third seat area of the interior. The bolts are exposed when the seat is slid forward, and the latch can be unlocked by hand. The third seat is usually left in place, but can be folded down and tipped forward to rest against the back of the second row seat.
To remove the seat, there is a black bar in the back near the floor that can be lifted to unlatch it from the floor. The video also shows how to fold and tumble the 2nd- and 3rd-row seats manually or with the available power feature. A single release is fairly simple, with lifting the seat and using a box wrench on the pin to unlatch it.
The third row bench seat should be moved to the second row position, and the seat track release handle should be lifted. The rear tray should be removed, and the bolts should be cracked loose but not taken out. Folding the seats back up and removing the seatbelt assembly are essential steps for a smooth and comfortable ride on the Ford Expedition SUV.

Thanks for the tip on removing the plastic feet retainers; I’d have broken those for sure. Instead of fiddling with the bent things referenced in the article, I just had to use the handle on the side of the seat that bends the back forward and slides the whole seat forward. This allows perfect access to the rear row of T55+ seat bolts.
