Why are MSC Cruises so cheap?
While MSC Cruises offers competitive pricing, the lack of additional amenities may be perceived as a drawback by some consumers. The company employs strategies such as reducing staff numbers and limiting cabin space in order to offer these competitive prices. In order to reduce expenditure on these fares, it is vital to have a clear understanding of the value and budget for additional services. Furthermore, it is imperative to take into account the financial implications of other services and accommodations.
Do excursions sell out on cruises?
If you’re interested in a shore excursion, it’s important to check back frequently as some popular options may sell out. However, it’s also possible for cancellations to occur. To avoid this, book all excursions early after booking your cruise and meeting all deposit requirements. If an excursion isn’t available, search for alternate activities or consult the Shore Excursion Manager onboard. Waitlisting is currently unavailable. Pre-paid shore excursion tickets will be delivered to your stateroom after sailing on the first evening of your cruise.
The type and degree of disability determine which excursions are recommended for physically challenged guests. For those able to walk independently, easy or moderate activity excursions are recommended.
Is water free on MSC cruise?
The MSC World Cruise offers a dining and beverage package that includes house wines, draft beer, soft drinks, and mineral water for lunch and dinner in the main dining rooms and buffets. The Premium Extra Package is included for all cruises booked in MSC Yacht Club, offering a discount of up to 15% compared to the prices charged on board for all drink packages.
Do I need cash for cruise excursions?
CruiseInsider offers extra perks and additional shipboard credit on most sailings, with the amount varying by cruise line, special offer, stateroom category, or itinerary. Cash is typically needed in port, especially in foreign ports, to save money on foreign transaction fees and in places where credit cards aren’t accepted. To reduce cash requirements and maintain a good record of purchases, it is recommended to pay for onshore purchases over $10 with a credit card and use pocket change or local currency for the rest.
Cash is needed for sweets, sodas, souvenirs, street vendors, and small mom-and-pop shops. Large cities like Rome or Barcelona can use plastic in most cases. When budgeting, consider the overall itinerary and prioritize your priorities when budgeting money.
How much do cruise excursions cost?
The cost of a tour typically ranges from $50 to $175 per person, with the price varying depending on the duration and activities included. It should be noted that the cost of a tour may be higher in certain regions of the world.
Why are shore excursions so expensive?
Ship-sponsored tours are often more expensive than directly offered tours through the operator, as the cruise line serves as the middleman and inflates fees to take a cut before paying the tour company. Independent tours take smaller groups, allowing for more personalized experiences. When booking a private tour, you may be one of fewer than 20 people, compared to the smaller group sizes of third-party tours. Therefore, it’s essential to choose the right tour option for your travel needs.
Are cruise ship excursions worth the money?
Shore excursions are a popular part of cruise trips, offering guided tours and private beach clubs to make the most of your time in each port. While not mandatory, they can be a worthwhile experience. Shore activities can be divided into two categories: those sold directly by the cruise line and those through local or third-party companies. As an avid cruiser, I have experienced both types of excursions and have had both positive and negative experiences.
One of my favorite shore excursions was a resort day pass in St. Kitts, booked through a third-party travel site, and another was a guided tour of top attractions in Jamaica, booked directly through Carnival while on one of their ships.
What do you have to pay for on a MSC cruise?
MSC Cruises offers a base package that includes accommodations, sustenance, live entertainment, scheduled port stops, coffee, tea, and water. However, the package does not include specialty beverages, wireless internet access, or optional excursions, such as soda or alcoholic beverages.
How much money should I take on a 7 day cruise?
Onboard expenses on cruises can range from $52 to $89 per day, depending on the cruise line, ship, experience, and individual preferences. Cruise lines are considered a “cashless society”, charging items to cabins using room keys or ship IDs. However, cash can be used in most situations on a cruise, such as bars, spas, casinos, excursions, and shops. It is recommended to leave most cash in the safe inside your stateroom along with important documents, passports, credit cards, IDs, and more. Those planning on dining at specialty dining restaurants, enjoying daily cocktails, enjoying spa services, or taking excursions in every port may spend more.
Is it cheaper to book excursions on the ship?
Cruise lines typically charge the same prices for shore excursions booked online and on board, or offer discounts for tours purchased in advance. Royal Caribbean often offers up to 30 off select tours reserved ahead of sailing. It is best practice to tip tour guides at the end of the tour, except if tips are included in the price or if visiting a non-tipping culture where offering cash would be awkward.
Can I leave the cruise ship without an excursion?
Carnival does not require passengers to book shore excursions to leave the ship, as public transportation is available at each port. Instead, passengers can visit local libraries, bookstores, or websites to determine their desired destinations. Carnival does not offer alternatives from its established shore excursion program, but all excursions sold through Carnival are coordinated with reputable tour operators and include popular sites.
Booking excursions through Carnival guarantees the ship’s presence in port until all guests return, while independent excursions may not be recognized. Additionally, some ports may have visa requirements that may prevent passengers from venturing off on their own.
📹 What I Wish I Knew Before I Sailed an MSC Cruise
Having recently sailed on MSC, I can tell you that there are some major differences between this line and its competitors like …
NO FREE WATER IN DINING ROOM. On MSC Armonia 6 months ago, was told on our first night at dinner in the dining room that we had to pay for any water, (not special water, not soda water, just plain water) No water was provided free of charge. We were told there was water available free only in their buffet area, and if we wanted to dine in the dining room, would have to be purchased. The only way water was served was in small bottles bought for 3-4 Euros individually or as part of a drinks package. I assumed this must be some mistake, as no other cruise line charges for water that I’ve ever cruised with. This was not the basic Bella experience, but the next tier up, Fantastica package we had booked. Never again.
From what I have seen thus far about MSC cruise line, I have loved the different things they offer just like Royal Caribbean. Love the variety of options to do on board for the common passengers from swimming pools to dancing, thrilling activities and entertainment. Also, love the prices I have seen on their website. Royal Caribbean and MSC are my top favorite right now.
I love the idea that cruises can make it possible to visit areas that many people have thought of as expensive. You can make and match any experience and budget. 80% of it is getting there and having time in the environment that you’re interested in. Thank you for this article spelling things out so that there are very little surprises. I have booked a cruise in 2025 so that I can make payments to make visiting an area that I have wanted to go to for many years affordable. Thank you very much!!!!
