MSC Cruises have formal nights on every cruise, with one formal night on a 7-night cruise and two formal nights on longer cruises. The dress codes are relaxed, with 96% of cruisers describing them as such. On a 7-night cruise, there are usually two gala-elegant nights, while on cruises lasting 1-6 nights, there may only be one gala-night.
MSC has two main dress codes: formal gala or elegant dress code, which applies only to the Top Sail Lounge, and smart casual attire for entry to the Top Sail Lounge. Layers and a light jacket or sweater are suggested for cooler nights and in the air-conditioned ships. Other iconic MSC-themed evenings include White Party, Sunshine Party, Retro Party, and more.
For cruises lasting 7 nights or longer, there are 2 Evening Chic nights, while cruises lasting 6 nights or shorter have 1 Evening Chic night. Smart Casual attire is required for all other nights of the cruise. Celebrity Xpedition features theme nights on MSC Poesia, White Night, 70s80s Night, Casual Night, Elegant Gala Night, and Theme Nights on MSC Magnifica.
Guests are encouraged to bring outfits that go with each of the MSC’s formal nights. For 3- and 4-night cruises, one formal night is expected, while most 7-night cruises have two formal nights and most 10-night cruises have three formal nights. For cruises over 14 nights, one gala night and three elegant nights are expected. Jeans can be worn on casual resort wear nights and the buffet.
The number of formal evenings varies based on the length of the cruise, with four- to six-night cruises having one formal night and 15-night cruises having two formal nights.

The White Party on MSC Cruises, White Hot Party on Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) and White Hot Night Party on Carnival are particularly notable mentions. Carnival hosts their White Hot Night Party once for sailings that are five nights or longer in length. MSC Cruises has their White Party once per sailing, and, being Norwegian’s signature theme night, it’s available at the end of all sailings.
These theme nights have extended to different colors as well. Royal Caribbean offers Red Night (guests wear red), Norwegian and MSC have Glow Parties (very similar to a white party but guests wear white and/or neon colors) and Virgin Voyages has a “Scarlet Night.” The latter “red-themed” party is celebrated throughout the ship instead of being contained in one area.

How many outfits for 7 night cruise?
Here’s what to pack for a 7-day cruise to the Caribbean. No matter where you sail to, clothing is going to take up the bulk of your suitcase. You should average two outfits per day, as you’ll wear one during the day and one at night for dinner.
I find that I like to re-wear at least two or three outfits at night to save space. Plus, I just don’t like having to plan seven different outfits for each night. This, however, is a personal preference.
In the Caribbean, daytime wear is equivalent to what you’d wear to the beach or when partaking in an active activity at home. On some days, a bathing suit and cover-up might be sufficient, especially if you’re going on an excursion and spending all day on the beach or by the ship’s pool while at sea.
On other days, you might opt for an excursion with a specific dress code. You cannot, for instance, go zip-lining through Jamaica wearing flip-flops and swim trunks.
