How Good Is Snorkeling In Cuba?

Cuba offers numerous snorkeling spots with relaxing beaches and stunning marine environments. The top ten snorkeling spots in Cuba include Cayo Santa Maria, María la Gorda, and Cayo Levisa. María la Gorda is located on the western tip of Cuba, in the Guanahacabibes National Park. The most popular snorkeling spots are the beaches near the Maria la Gorda diving center and nearby cays, where you can spot sea turtles, murrains, sharks, reef fish, and stunning underwater fauna.

Cayo Levisa is famous for its black coral, rays, and clear water, and the best time to visit is between November and April. Melia Buenavista in Cayo Santa Maria offers three private beaches for snorkeling. While there isn’t much good snorkeling off the beach in Varadero, several companies offer trips to reefs further out.

Cayo Alcatracito, Punta Perdiz, Playa Rancho Luna, Guasasa Guardalavaca, and Playa Santa Lucia are some of the best-rated spots in Cuba for snorkeling. Some popular snorkeling spots include the coral reefs near the Varadero Peninsula, the shallow waters near the Marina Gaviota, and the María La Gorda Dive Center.

Despite its difficult access, María La Gorda Dive Center is an ideal place for diving and snorkeling, with its impressive seabed and abundant endemic Caribbean Sea fish.
