Does The Pope Have A Yacht?

The Pope, who has not owned a yacht since 849, operated a small navy in the Mediterranean from 849 to 1878 for defense against pirates. The Immacolata Concezione, a screw corvette of the Papal Navy, was built in the English shipyards of Thames Iron Shipbuilding Co. in Blackwall. The boat was given to Pope Pius IX by the king of Naples on his reentry from exile after the revolutionary movement of the Roman Republic in 1850.

The Pope travels with a relatively modest entourage of about 30 people and does not keep a private jet. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) took note of the apology from Paris 2024. The Pope’s boat was used for fishing and helping Jesus preach to crowds on shore.

In July 2024, the Pope attended the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, which took place outside a stadium and on one of the most beautiful settings in the world, the Seine. Athletes paraded not by foot but by boat, waving their flags.

The Pope’s boat was a symbol of the association and a symbol of the Pope’s commitment to the protection of the environment. The Immacolata Concezione, built for the Pope in 1859, is 32 meters long and has been staffed by 10 crew members, 20 medical volunteers, and a Franciscan boat director for each 10-meter-long row.

I am a school teacher who was bitten by the travel bug many decades ago. My husband Billy has come along for the ride and now shares my dream to travel the world with our three children. The kids Pollyanna, 13, Cooper, 12 and Tommy 9 are in love with plane trips (thank goodness) and discovering new places, experiences and of course Disneyland.
