  • Looking at joining one since I’m a trucker and need to get some additional workout on the road. I use my home equipment when I’m at home, but with aging and health issues, just a little more oomph per week will help in addition to the usual nutritional changes. I make runs between the NM and CO areas and there are definitely more of them in the greater Denver area. Had a 24 Hour Fitness membership for the longest time. But ultimately had to get rid of it due to moving ftom SoCal to rural NM. Call me a weirdo, but I never got into the Mom’n’Pop places. See how this works.

  • I’ve heard of Anytime automatically switching your membership to the location you go to the most. So if you intially signed up for a rate $40/mth at one location but consistently went to another location with higher rates, they will switch your “home” gym location. Then they’ll start charging you the more expensive membership fee.

  • Can only speak for myself. Signed up with a local AF gym last year, and solicited the assistance of a trainer as I needed to ensure that my form was correct, etc. The most economical plan was to join their small group sessions. Had to sign all kinds of forms, including a surcharge in the month of Sept for equipment maintenance! Yikes! That part about using other AF gyms is ONLY for regular patrons such as yourself, not small session participants! They wouldn’t grant me the leeway to work with other trainers @ other branches UNLESS I was physically relocating, whereas at the point of signing up, was informed that I was welcome to train at other branches. That option was completely removed, however, once they had me. Just completed my annual commitment, and I’ll NEVER sign up with them again.

  • honestly im saving up to buy a car, so with that being said, planet fitness is pretty far from where i live but luckily anytime fitness is literally a block or two away so i get the benefits of cardio and saving gas money lol. but this review is making me feel better. ive just been confused about the membership fees because it shows that its 24 bucks bi weekly and thats probably a downside 🙁

  • I took a tour of an Anytime Fitness near me and wasn’t really impressed. It was very small, looked more like a country club than a gym, had very little equipment for lifting (plenty for cardio though) and wanted $60 a month. There was a high end seniors condo complex built right next door just before they moved in so I think the AF might have been more for them. Plus side at least they’re 24 hours, were very clean, friendly, and had hot showers and even a sauna room.

  • My biggest gripe with Anytime Fitness is that their gym contracts are inflexible. It’s either 12+ months or nothing. I mean come on it’s 2024, there are other gyms out there that offer daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal pass. Making someone commit to 12 full months under legal contract is pure scummy and borderline imprisonment. I have changed gyms before after my 3 months contract with another gym had expired. It’s not because I gave up on my fitness/BB goals is because the enviroment was just nasty. I didnt enjoy working out with the rowdy people there. I didn’t like how the equipment was trashed and poorly maintained. For me to go to another Anytime Fitness branch if it doesn’t work out is almost an hour away. Also I don’t like how Anytime Fitness staff present themselves. They’re like a cult constantly trying to upsell you a personal instructor. I had to tell one of the staff to bugger off because he thinks he knows better. I’ve been working out/BB for about 6-8 years now on and off.

  • Their fee to join is annoying. Having that being said, if you hold out and say you’re not paying the fee and won’t be joining, they will waive it. It just took a couple of hours and the potential loss of the membership to get a call back, I also joined when they ran a half off special, which makes it worth it. I also appreciate that there’s not a ton of “bros.” The majority of the people there are easy going and cool and just want to improve themselves. I used to be a personal trainer a while back. I’ve been in the bro gyms. It can be annoying.. everything’s updated and in good shape, and the gym is clean.
