Super Cruise is a hands-free driving technology that allows drivers to focus on the road while their hands are free to rest in their lap. It uses cameras, sensors, GPS data, and LiDAR-scanned maps to make driving more relaxing and convenient. To get started with Super Cruise, owners don’t need to buy a subscription, as all Super Cruise-equipped vehicles come with 3 years of connectivity. To operate Super Cruise, users must have an active and eligible OnStar® Super Cruise plan to provide precision GPS corrections, map updates, and software updates to the vehicle.
Super Cruise is the first true hands-free technology for compatible roads, using sensors in your compatible vehicle and high-definition maps to steer and maintain your vehicle’s position. To activate Super Cruise, turn on your vehicle’s Adaptive Cruise Control and set a speed when on a compatible road. After the initial Super Cruise service ends, you will need to purchase an eligible OnStar Super Cruise plan to enable the features.
Super Cruise vehicles are also connected to OnStar® and function with an OnStar service plan. All Super Cruise-equipped vehicles include 3 years of connectivity to support functionality, after which the price may change in the next 3 years. However, Onstar is not active for these vehicles, making it impossible to access the subscription needed to enable the Super Cruise functionality.
