Can You Bring Liquor On Norwegian Cruise Line?

Norwegian Cruise Line has a policy prohibiting the bringing of alcohol on board its ships, except for wine and champagne. Guests who purchase alcohol at ports-of-call or onboard shops will be safely stored until disembarkation day. Alcohol is not allowed onboard at embarkation, and items will be secured until disembarkation day. Open beverages must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, embarkation day, and at any port of call.

Guests can enjoy almost any alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverage up to 15 with the Norwegian drink package. However, it is generally not allowed due to two reasons: on Caribbean cruises, where alcohol is often sold directly to the ship by travel agents, friends, family, etc., or from another retail source. Wine or champagne sent directly to the ship by travel agents, friends, family, etc., or from another retail source, are subject to the same fees.

In the interest of safety and security of guests and crew, Norwegian Cruise Line will no longer allow non-alcoholic beverages brought on board by guests. Guests are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages onboard, except wine, and a corkage fee will be charged. Security reserves the right to inspect any alcoholic beverages onboard.

In summary, Norwegian Cruise Line’s policy prohibits the bringing of alcohol on board its ships, except for wine and champagne. Guests are advised to consume or discard open beverages at the security check-point, embarkation day, and any port of call.

Is bottled water free on Norwegian cruise?

One of the oddities of the FAS beverage package is that it does not include any bottled water, even if you ask for it by the glass at a bar. I normally drink a lot of Pellegrino at home and it is strange that NCL charges extra for a mineral water that is obviously much cheaper than a $15 cocktail.

Can you bring a 12 pack of soda on a Norwegian cruise?

We’re pleased not only to offer several types of beverage packages, BUT also at a discounted rate!Everything you need to know can be found at edsea.com/beverages.

Beverage Policy Update. At Norwegian Cruise Line, the safety and security of our guests and crew is our top priority. To ensure a safe and enjoyable onboard environment for all, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages including liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soda and juices on board the company’s ships either as carry-on or checked luggage, with the exception of purified or distilled water in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant formula; and fully sealed and/or corked wine bottles for personal consumption onboard that is subject to screening and a corkage fee (for guests 21 years of age or older). Open beverages of any kind must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, on embarkation day and at any port of call.

To provide our guests with a smoother and faster embarkation experience, we will be implementing this updated policy effective July 15. This revised policy brings the company in line with other best practice travel security protocols and reduces the need for individual time consuming screening and package inspection of large volumes of beverages.

How do cruise ships detect alcohol?

Body Scanners. While cruise ships don’t typically have the scanning technology you’ll find at airports, you’ll still have your luggage scanned and need to walk through an X-ray machine.

This machine can detect any liquids you may be carrying on your person, meaning you can’t hide any small bottles of alcohol in your pockets!

Room Inspections. Even if you somehow get past the cruise ship scanner with your booze, there’s still a chance of getting caught sneaking alcohol. Any cruise line can inspect any cruise passenger’s room for any reason. You’ll find this in your cruise contract, where you can also read the alcohol policy.

While most cruise lines aren’t in the habit of doing random searches, there’s still a possibility that they’ll search your cabin, especially if they suspect something is wrong.

How to bring alcohol in carry-on?

How Much Alcohol Can You Bring on a Plane?. When it comes to packing yourcarry-on luggage and clearing TSA checkpoints, the same3-1-1 rule that applies to toiletries also applies to liquor. You can pack small bottles of alcohol that are 3.4 ounces or less in a clear, quart-sized bag. If you have already passed through the security checkpoints and decide to buy alcohol at a duty-free store inside the airport, make sure to keep your receipt and don’t remove the bottle from the sealed bag provided at checkout.

When you’re packing alcohol in yourchecked bag, you are limited to five liters of alcohol. For reference, a standard bottle of wine is 750 milliliters, which means you can fit about six bottles. For liquor connoisseurs, the alcohol by volume percentage also becomes a factor. TheTSA rule of thumb is that all alcohol must be less than 140-proof (70% ABV).

Whether you’re packing mini bottles in your carry-on or you’re bringing back a case of beer in your checked bag, make sure the alcohol is unopened and in its original packaging so you don’t raise any red flags with the authorities.

Any guest without proper documents will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued.
