Are Hawaii Ports Open To Cruise Ships?

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced the execution of the first port agreements with Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Lines to formalize health and safety protocols for cruise ships. Hawaii will allow ships to visit state-approved ports as long as the companies follow specific protocols, including mandatory COVID-19 testing. The ports schedule lists all ships with cruises going to or leaving from Lahaina, Maui Island Hawaii.

The standard 7-night roundtrip Honolulu itinerary includes overnights on Kauai and Maui, as well as afternoon cruising. Hawaii requires all cruise ship passengers to abide by the Safe Travels Hawaii requirements, which include proof of vaccination or a negative test. If cruise ships dock at Kahului, Mauis commercial hub on the east side of the island, there is not much to see within walking distance. The neighboring town of Wailuku is the county Lahaina cruise ship schedule.

Honolulu Harbor, the largest commercial and passenger port in the Hawaiian Islands, has two terminals: Pier 2 and Pier 3. After leaving Honolulu, the Pride of America visits four different ports – Kahului (Maui), Hilo (Hawaii Island), Kona (Hawaii Island), and Honolulu.
