Who is the woman who sings on cruises?

About Jane McDonald. Early years and family life. Renowned for her thick Yorkshire accent and northern charm, Jane McDonald was born in Wakefield, West Riding in 1963. Her father was a miner while her mother ran a boarding house. Jane began her own career touring the Northern Club circuit and singing on cruise ships. In her autobiography Riding the Waves: My Story the 57-year-old singer describes her young self as ‘painfully shy’, someone who feared leaving the house and dreaded being in front of an audience.

A far cry from the sheepish child she once was, Jane is now a platinum-selling recording artist and frequently appears on UK television screens. Jane met her first husband, Henrik Brixen, whilst filming The Cruise and their seafaring romance became a central focus of the programme. Henrik was one of the ship’s plumbing engineers, but he assumed the full-time role as Jane’s manager after the couple married in 1998. Sadly, Jane and Henrik separated in 2003, and the television star is now engaged to musician and teenage sweetheart Eddie Rothe. The pair live together, but do not have any children.

Jane McDonald: Career. Jane McDonald was catapulted into the spotlight after appearing on BBC One’s The Cruise in January 1998. The Yorkshire singer was awarded her first recording contract with Focus Music International later that year and subsequently released her debut album, Jane McDonald. The album was a roaring success, spending a staggering three weeks at number one on the Official UK Chart Hits, achieving platinum status and even gaining a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

Why did Florida Georgia Line stop singing together?

Former Florida Georgia Line members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley have revealed what led to the breakup of their successful bro-country group. Hubbard and Kelley appeared separately on recent episodes of Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, and they shared their respective sides of what led to the duo’s demise. Hubbard claims the split was initiated by Kelley, who wanted to pursue a solo career. Hubbard found it challenging to balance both Florida Georgia Line and his solo work. “I don’t have the capacity to do two careers, and also it’s going to get super sticky,” Hubbard admitted.

Kelley said they agreed to hold off on solo projects until their recording contract ended, but Hubbard released a song with Tim McGraw in 2021 anyway, breaking their arrangement. Kelley then released a solo EP and LP in 2021, and he sensed the end of FGL when Hubbard communicated that they were “kinda done.” (Holler)

What was Florida Georgia Line’s first hit song?

Florida Georgia Line was an American country music duo founded in 2010 by vocalists and songwriters Tyler Hubbard of Georgia and Brian Kelley of Florida. Their 2012 debut single “Cruise” broke two major sales records: it was downloaded over seven million times, making it the first country song ever to receive the Diamond certification, and it became the best-selling digital country song, with 24 weeks at number one, until it was surpassed in July 2017 by Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road”. Their music style is described as “bro-country”, which incorporates production elements from rock and hip hop music, and tends to cover subject matter such as partying, drinking, driving trucks and sexual attraction.

Florida Georgia Line was formed in 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee as a cover band. In December 2011, they signed to the Big Loud label and in 2012, they released their second EP, It’z Just What We Do, which charted on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. They then signed with Republic Nashville, part of Big Machine Records and released Anything Goes, Dig Your Roots, Can’t Say I Ain’t Country, and Life Rolls On. The duo went on hiatus in 2022, ultimately resulting in a breakup, at which point both members began solo careers.

Musicians Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard met in 2008 at Belmont University through a campus worship group, and following graduation, decided to give themselves two years to succeed as a country duo. They moved in together and began several odd jobs to pay bills, while playing clubs on the weekends. While independent, they recorded and digitally distributed their first EP, Anything Like Me. They were discovered by Nickelback producer Joey Moi at a county fair, and the three began recording in studio together. Unlike typical country music sessions, the group spent days polishing songs, which were collected on the duo’s second EP, It’z Just What We Do. The band modeled their sound on bands such as Nickelback, Shinedown, and Three Days Grace, while Moi aimed for each song to resemble hair metal group Def Leppard in structure. Major labels became interested when the song “Cruise” first aired on The Highway channel on Sirius XM and began selling well in the iTunes Store, leading to a deal with Republic Nashville and Big Machine Records.
