The 92-meter yacht was originally called Annaliesse and later renamed Delma. Adelson bought the yacht in 2015 and had it remodeled by Amico Co shipyard in Genoa. The yacht was initially launched as the 85-meter Annaliesse in 2004 by Neorion and underwent a substantial renovation project at the Amico Co shipyard in Genoa. The magnificent 92-meter yacht was constructed by Neorion in 2004 and last refurbished by Amico in 2016.

I must say I admire your mental stamina that you can expose yourself to this kind of corrupt opulence and not get depressed that you are on this side of the tracks with all us other peons that have to scramble each month just to pay for a Ford. I used to envy people who could afford a Rolls Royce until I owned one; man-o-man do I ever love my 2017 Ford Focus!!!
Oh, and I have a Neorion shipyard story for you. We went aground in Jeddah, on a reefer. We had a diver inspection, then proceeded to Neorion shipyard in Syros. This was in January, so it was almost touristless. We were there for a couple of weeks. There were two “older” English ladies in the yard office. They virtually ran the place. Any translation problems, you went to them. They spoke Greek, Spanish, French, plus a couple of other languages. I used to drop into their little office for the odd cuppa and chat. Without them, things would have been less smooth. Syros is a lovely island, very steep from the harbour to the top of the hill. Had my first proper grilled fresh octopus there, ouzo (least said…) and the local chocolate was as good as anything you’d get in Switzerland. Great place!
Hi mate, great article and i’ve got a few bits of info to add. The boat was “Mr.A’s” first yacht so as such was very heavily used by himself, his family and friends in the summer in Europe, then for the winter it would travel to Singapore to shmooze rich (mostly Chinese) casino and hotel guests from Marina Bay Sands which Sheldon owned. The boat would also charter during Mr.A’s ownership, I think Queen Miri was mostly a business tool and not a personal yacht as the interior doesn’t have a personalized feel to it, it’s seen as a posh ferry to those who have worked on her! Also she shows her age inside with the crew areas being terrible and dated! A little side note, it was believed (whether it’s true or not) the boat was squeezed out to 92m as Americans use the imperial system and Sheldon said it must be 300ft or above! The paint scheme of blue and gold was chosen to match Sheldon’s Boeing 747.
Just to all those commenting about the bagpipes, I want to justify them by saying this was not the best example of piping out there. I love pipes, I played Scottish Snare in a pipe band for many years, and were even their lead snare for quite a while. Even people who play professionally (usually just on the side) actually arent that skilled because most are so unfamiliar with piping that they dont catch the mistakes. Most are very good! Dont get me wrong! But a few get away with not quite being up to snuff. This fellow isnt terrible by any means, but there is certainly much better pipers out there…
My dog started to howl like a wolf hearing those pipes. He’s not keen, last time he reacted like that was at a friends wedding, he was sat in the car, with windows open, the bride and groom, had organised a piper. Who by chance kicked off next to the car. My boy joined in, all the way though, he howled like a good boy, ever since, if he hears those screeching sounds of a dying cat he joins in.. what fun
We were anchored out in Bay Fien in the North website of Lake Huron with another sailboat. The captain of the other boat played the pipes every evening…Amazing Grace followed by Scotland the Brave! Turned out that he was a Scot who had lived in Canada for many years, but never forgot to play the pipes! A great guy, and an accomplished single handed sailor.
I love kittens, but I’m only allowed to subscribe once. Too bad, because I would subscribe more than once if possible. Fascinating episode. Amazing what one can do with money. I really hope I can cover my rent this month. ๐ I wonder what they would have to pay in materials for the wax on it. There’s an old saying. “How can you tell if bagpipes are out of tune? Someone’s playing them. The best solution? Add another 20 people playing.
Little known fact is that bagpipes are from ancient Italy. A longtime ago a Scotsman was taking a trip around Europe before going to university and specializing in agriculture when he was given at tour of a major Italian farm. When the tour was completed it ended at the organic fertilizer pile and he spotted a most unusual thing on top. “What is that?” He quarried the Italian farmer. “Oh that. It is Called Bagpipes. My son likes to invent new things, you can have it if it fancies you.” So the Scotsman took it home and the Scottish have been blowing the shit out of them ever since!
A guy from Malta, wearing what looked like a British patch, playing Scottish bagpipes in Italy, regarding a boat owned by an American family. ๐ As for the content of the article, I really liked the information you provided to us. As much as I love yachts, I do love the behind-the-scenes information as well.
I have questions: Do you carry your “uniform” or is it kept on the boat? It appeared that what you packed into the Super Kia that you did not have 6 months worth of clothing/stuff. Does anyone call you “Sir”? How does the crew interact, I mean do you call each other by name or by position? Do you have a person or persons working under your direction? Is there an apprentice system for backup or for upgrading crew? Hope you can make to Monaco!!
Did you hire the bag pipe music just for your article LOL? First class all the way this is how I personally feel about your articles to. I want to see you hit that 100,000 subscribers mark also and for you to proudly receive your Silver Plague also. As for this boat I really like it’s color better now it seems white is the standard but something about dark blue and white seem to set one off – just my opinion. I really liked the intro you did showing pictures of some really nice boats it seemed to add class to the start of your article. Your articles are so clear and without any noise plus the colors are very vivid. It sure seems like so much money to add approximately 22 feet to the boats length to basically get a boat cannel LOL or playroom. OMG I can’t even comprehend the cost of this refit or update. In your opinion do you think it may have been wiser to start out with a brand new boat? With new engines generators plus all of the updated wiring – computer systems + basically it’s a new boat with an old build date. Plus I have to wonder if it’s hull being older is considered an old design verses new boats of about 300 feet today’s new ones how it would compare. Ok I will quit ration now. I wish you all the best and I love your articles but maybe you can tell that already. Thank You and Cheers
There is a very similar process going on where I live on my boat in Stellendam South Holland to a boat originally called Valleta. They built a huge building for the complete strip down, rebuild and extension of this vessel (Euro 40 million project). I have photos of the boat going in, but nothing of the work going on inside the facility.
Bagpipes! What next? I have a bagpipes story. I did one trip with Bibby Line. The 2/E asked me “what is the only good thing about bagpipes? Answer:- “they don’t smell”. On the same ship, the 3/E played the saxophone. But, he practiced in the engine control room, so he didn’t disturb anyone. I guess only a billionaire would do what he did to Queen Miri….easy come, easy go I guess.
I’m just wondering why the owner didn’t have a brand new super yacht designed and built? Surely that would’ve been easier and cheaper than 2 years of work to remodel an existing yacht. Although I suppose if you’ve got the kind of money necessary to own a boat like this then saving money isn’t really much of a consideration
Removal of life boats? I am really uncomfortable with this modern “fashion” of having no dedicated hard life boats on Super Yachts, relying only on inflatables. The reduced numbers of hard life boats on Liners and Cruise Ships is scary to see, all because of design lines and appearances. Have we not learned anything from the event’s of April 1912 continuing on to this present day? Congratulations on the website’s success, looking forward to the next 100k : )
Two things occurred to me. The first is that yacht owners probably name Yachts after their wives so the wife won’t complain about it. It is, after, a tribute to her (not). The second is jus how many luxury yachts have a compressor on board to refill SCUBA tanks? I’ve never hear of it. But even a small dive boat can refill quite a few tanks in one day. While clearly people owning or chartering a yacht like to party hardy, I have to wonder just how depraved and wild they can get… But I know because of NDA, we will never know for sure. (sigh).
Since you’re letting the beard grow out, you should look for a beard oil sponsorship. You should contact Live Bearded. I started using their products after seeing another youtuber advertise them. They’re a US company, but I imagine many of your viewers are too. And many guys are still sporting “work from home /stay at home” beards. If you’re still interested in sponsorship, it’s much better to have legitimate, useful advertisers instead of garbage companies like Nord that have no integrity.
Paused it .01 seconds in just to look at the comments on this one…thankfully I see. Bagpipes? Oie! Here to see why some nut wants to cut and probably extend his yacht instead of looking for another one that would work better. Fools with money investing it in the wrong places again. Don’t care how rich you are… if you dismantle a working yacht for a few extra feet and ego, instead of….(anything)… Your perspective is in the wrong place!!..And deserve any money you lose and its sad who didn’t have to. Whether I pre-estimated what the reason was…….what reason is reasonable?
