Where Is The Stranded Cruise Ship?

A luxury cruise ship, the Ocean Explorer, has been stranded in Greenland for three days after running aground in the region. The ship, which has 206 passengers and crew, was rescued by a Greenland research trawler after it was grounded within the Northeast Greenland National Park. The Ocean Explorer, operated by Australia-based cruise company Aurora Expeditions, was traveling towards a remote corner of the park when it ran aground above the Arctic Circle in Alpefjord. The 343-foot long and 60-foot wide vessel, operated by Australia-based cruise company Aurora Expeditions, was traveling toward a remote corner of the park.

The successful rescue operation took place on Thursday, three days after the MV Ocean Explorer, another luxury cruise ship that had been stuck for three days after running aground off the coast of Greenland. The Ocean Explorer became stuck in mud and silt above the Arctic Circle in Alpefjord, 1,400 km (870 miles) northeast of Greenlands capital Nuuk. High tide on Tuesday failed to free the ship, and a fishing research vessel assisted in the rescue operation.

The Ocean Explorer, which was a 104.4-meter-long and 18-meter-wide vessel, ran aground above the Arctic Circle in Alpefjord, Greenland, with 206 passengers and crew members onboard. A group of eight cruise passengers were left stranded at a port in West Africa after the vessel didn’t allow them to board due to lateness.
