The Star Clipper, a 4-masted Schooner sailing ship, is currently cruising in the Aegean Sea, Malta. It was built in 1992 and is 32 years old. The fleet of eleven Clipper 70 racing yachts has completed the twelfth edition of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, with the fleet sailing the first 1000 nautical miles of the epic adventure. The results of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race fleet are set to arrive in Seattle from 22 April.
The event, founded by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, is now on its twelfth edition, with the thirteenth edition starting in 2022-23. The fleet of eleven Clipper 70 ocean racing yachts will set off from Portsmouth on September 3 and complete seven out of eight legs of the 40,000nm eleven-month Clipper Race. The fleet has been sponsored by countries’ tourism boards, port cities, or corporate sponsors.
The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other. Since September 2023, eleven clipper yachts led by crews from around the world have raced to Spain, Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, and Vietnam. The fleet is expected to arrive in Bell Harbor Marina between April 22-26, with events starting approximately a week from now.
The Clipper 2023-24 Round the World Yacht Race concluded at the Grand Finale at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, where Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam emerged as the Clipper Race champions.
