Oyster Yachts, a British luxury cruising sailing yacht brand established in 1973, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023. The company is based in Southampton but has strong links to Wroxham and Ipswich. Oyster Yachts designs and builds the world’s finest liveaboard sailboats, with the DNA of their 50ft to 90ft models moving into the historic Grade II listed buildings known as the Admiralty Shed or the Flying Boat Hangar. The 675 and 745 can be built either in Southampton or in Norfolk, where the 475 to 625 models are built. Oyster employs about 400 people in total, with 320 on the shop floor.
After launching a record 32 yachts in 2022, Oyster maintained full occupancy of all its shipyards build bays during FY23. During that time, Oyster grew its staff by a third. The company has four main yacht construction centers, including Oyster Yachts Wroxham in Norfolk, which is close to its new composite technology facility in Ashmanhaugh. The Oyster 565 and 595 are brought to life here by skilled teams.
Oyster Yachts has been bought, with plans to resume building in Britain immediately and a potential range of smaller yachts in the future. The company has designed and built across four build centres in Norfolk and Hampshire, and has a history of designing, building, and supporting the world’s finest liveaboard sailboats since 1973.
