The CDC has released further clarification to the Conditional Sailing Order that has been in effect since October 2020, allowing cruising to resume on a firmer timeline. Once the agency reviews cruise line plans for adherence, large ship cruises could resume from U.S. ports as early as July. The cruise lines will resume operations on the following dates for these ships: Seven Seas Explorer – October 16, 2021; Venice, Italy; Seven Seas Mariner – December 18, 2021; Miami, Florida; Seven Seas Navigator – January 6, 2022; Miami, Florida.
As of June 26, 2021, the first ship, Celebrity Edge, returned to sailing from the U.S. More cruise lines around the world will be reopening this spring and summer as the cruise industry looks to start its recovery. With vaccination rollouts happening around the world, travelers looking for a better experience are looking forward to the new restart plan. The new restart plan encompasses 13 cruise ships, extending into Spring 2022. Each ship now returning will cruise with the health measures that have safeguarded the well-being of guests, crew, and passengers.
American Cruise Lines resumed sailings in March 2021, while Avalon Waterways resumed sailing in July 2021 offering cruises on the Seine River. Royal Clipper and Star Flyer are already sailing, and Star Clipper will return on November 13. Tui River Cruises and TUI Maya and TUI Skyla have also announced their plans to resume sailing. Royal Caribbean International expects all 26 of its ocean cruise ships to be back in service by spring 2022.
