Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has extended its final payment deadline from 120 days to 60 days prior to sailing for all voyages starting on or before April 30, 2022. This change is based on the length of the cruise, type of itinerary, room type, and date of sailing. Most final payments will be due 130 days prior to the sailing date, with deposits ranging from 100-750 per person.
The NCL website suggests that passengers can put a small deposit down and then make full payment 120 days before sailing. However, group space must be finalized by submitting a complete rooming list with all guest names assigned and making full final payment 90 days prior to the cruise. After placing a deposit to secure your reservation, you will be asked to pay the remaining balance of your fare at the final payment due date.
The final payment and cancellation schedule for all voyages embarking May 1, 2022 forward will remain at their standard policy. All guest accounts must be settled prior to debarkation from their voyage. If your cruise is Jan 2025, you are not at final payment yet. After the final payment due date, they will offer FCC if you meet the requirements.
In summary, all cruise passengers, including third through eight passengers, must pay a deposit within the option period offered at the time of booking and make final payments within 60 days. The NCL has recently extended its final payment deadline to 60 days, but refunds and cancellation fees may apply.

What happens if you don’t pay cruise by deadline?
Most cruise lines ask only for a deposit at the time of booking, with the remainder of the vacation cost typically due 90 days before your cruise on a sailing of five nights or longer. Miss making that final payment by the due date and you could forfeit your cruise and lose your deposit money. The cruise line won’t check in with you to see what’s happening; it will simply cancel your booking and apply any fees as outlined in its cancellation policy.
If you’re working with a travel agent, they should remind you when the final payment is due — one more benefit of working with a planner. If you’re arranging the trip yourself, be sure to mark your calendar and plan to make the payment several days before the final due date. You wouldn’t want to miss your cruise vacation due to something as simple as missing a payment by mistake.
Bottom line. Booking a cruise may seem daunting — and there are a lot of steps along the way where you can make mistakes — but doing your research and paying attention to details goes a long way toward preventing cruise booking mistakes.
