Canoo, an American EV-maker, has announced that deliveries of its all-electric commercial van have officially begun, with the first production Canoo LDV 130 vans set to be available in 2023. The purpose-built pickup truck features powered workbenches, tool storage, and a modular expandable bed. Canoo will shift from R&D to focus more on manufacturing in 2023, hoping to further slash operating expenses following a 45% reduction last year. CEO Canoo expects operating expenses between 70 million and 90 million in Q4 as the company begins commercial EV production on November 17, 2022.
Canoo has advanced its U.S. manufacturing timeline to begin production before the fourth quarter next year and would expand to more locations. The first official customer vehicles began rolling off the temporary line on November 17, bound for Walmart, NASA, and other fleet buyers. The delivery ETA for the lifestyle vehicle is expected to be in late 2023, but there is no confirmed timeline for public availability.
Canoo is engineering electric vehicles and leading the automotive world’s transition to clean and sustainable energy. The Canoo Pickup is available for pre-order with a 100 deposit, and deliveries are slated to begin by the end of 2023. The electric vehicle startup had a tough 2022, but executives expect factories to have a production capability of 20,000 by the end of the year.
