Sailing is a 1979 soft rock song written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Christopher Cross. Released as the second single from his self-titled debut album, it was already certified gold. The song was a success in the United States, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was inspired by Chris’ boyhood memories of boating in Texas and blasted Olivia Newton-Johns Magic out of the top spot in August. It went on to win Record and Song of the Year awards.
Sailing became Cross’ first chart-topper in the United States and Canada, hitting 1 in the summer of 1980. It also won Grammy Awards for Song Of The Year and Arrangement Of The Year. Christopher Cross revealed during an episode of Howard that he was taken out on a boat when he was a teenager to get away from everyone else.
The album, featuring a regal-looking flamingo on its cover, was released in December 1979. Cross signed with the label in 1978 and recorded songs for his debut album, Christopher Cross, collaborating with artists like Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.
Sailing, the follow-up single, rose even faster and higher, hitting 1 on this day in 1980. It transformed Christopher Cross’ career and helped him achieve success in the music industry.

I can remember being abused my mom as a child, and feeling hopeless at times. She struggled with terrible fits of rage. My saving grace as an 8 year old child was my little league football coach, who knew nothing about my repeated abuse, playing this song in his car, driving me home after practice! I still love it till this very day!!! 🙏
Many years ago, my father took my sister and I to Yosemite valley for a camping trip. We must have been 12 years old at the time. I remember looking out of the car window, gazing at the majestic mountains and water falls, the sweeping green meadows and the big blue sky. This song came on the radio and I soaked in the moment – it seemed the perfect soundtrack to the magical experience. Mentioning it to my dad, he instead turned off the radio and asked that we listen to the sound of the flowing water and wind, much to my chagrin. Years later, after putting up a tough yet graceful fight, he died of cancer . He told me at the time that he was not afraid of death, but of dying – because he didn’t want to leave us with a bad memory of him suffering through the process. Instead, I saw him at his best, and witnessed just how strong, graceful and loving a person could be in the toughest of times. This song brings back such great memories of my father, and because he turned off the radio while this song played, it made the memory stick in my mind for some odd reason. And when the part of the song says, “Just a dream and the wind to carry me, soon I will be free,” it really hits home. I’d like to think my father is out there, gliding effortlessly amongst those same beautiful mountains, waterfalls and meadows, and enjoying the moment with a smile on his face. I love you dad, and miss you every day.
I was depressed in college. I decided to paint the sunset instead of think about dying. This song was on and colors flooded the sky and shadows of rainbow stretched across a lake. The stars began to appear. 🌟 I painted many important expressions over the many years since. I love life. I love my family. Music is very important to me ❤
This song saved me from depression last. I was at the lowest point in my life. I was crying and asking God for relief. Minutes later this song just automatically started playing, I looked up the lyrics and Thanked God. It was like a hug from above. This grounds me along with prayer 🙏🏽 thank you for sharing ❤️
My dad passed away this past week, this was his favorite song, all though it is very hard to listen to, today I needed something to remind me of him. his favorite quote from this song that indeed in the end came true was: “soon I will be free” my dad suffered from a very rare heart disease and had 5 open heart surgery’s, his first being when he was 13, he was always in the hospital and suffered from to much pain. He is now happy and at peace in his for ever home, heaven. I loved him very much and am happy to say his favorite quote and his wish are now true he is free.
Such good music. Timeless and priceless. As a trucker who drove for 28 years, I have cherished those songs so much. All alone on the highways and sometimes the rain and my windshield wipers and the sound of the tires and the engine combine with such good music is all that keeps me awake. As a foreigner in America, I couldn’t help but remember my youth in St. Lucia when we used to go to parties and these songs would play. Life was so simple back then. Now times have changed and it makes me cherish these songs even more. The friends of mine who were at the parties all went to different parts of the world and started families and businesses of their own. I wonder, just wonder, what do they think of when they hear songs like these.
My father was a Norwegian seafarer from when he was 16 to when he finally retired at 68. This song allways makes me think of him, and being a lil boy riding on his shoulders, as he explained the stars and how to navigate by them, something they don’t teach mariners anymore…he was the last of the real vikings, not the TV type.
This song takes me back to my childhood during the 80’s. A time when life was much simpler and people talked to each other, face to face, for hours. If you needed answers, you rode your bike to the library and hung out with Dewey Decimal. The entire summer was spent at the public pool where the air was full of chlorine, kids were taking turns seeing how far they could swim underwater on one breath, and for snacks we had Mello Yello and Chick-o-Sticks. Riding my bike all over town because everyone knew everyone and we looked out for each other and didn’t have to worry about getting snatched up or shot at. If you got in trouble, your bike was never fast enough to beat the phone call home to your parents and you were held accountable for your actions. No cellphones, no computers, no article games (unless your parents had money). We weren’t allowed to sit in the house on a sunny day and we never ate a meal at home that wasn’t at the table. My God, how I miss those years. I wish I would have realized how special they were.
As a child I was abused constantly. I was thrown outside naked at the age of 6 I would hide in a bush and cry. People would walk right past me in an apartment complex and not even look twice. It was a different time, a different age. But, certain songs carried you through the roughest times. This is one of those songs for me. I will carry it with me for life. God bless you all. If you are going through a hard time please reach out you are not alone.
I live on the southern tip of Texas. The Gulf of Mexico is about less than a hour away. When this song came out before I graduated college I bought the cassette and played this song repeatedly on my Walkman as I laid on the sand when I went to the beach. The song fit the island vibe so well. Every time I hear this song it takes me back to those days.
WOW. This song, like to many others here listening, has a personal special meaning. But what astounds me even more, is reading what others are sharing here while I listen to the song myself. Stories of loss, of love, of nostalgia. And a sense of kinship overwhelms me, of sharing something so special with others: The magical power of music. It’s so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. And I smile and feel sad at the same time flooded with intense emotion, while those tears fall freely down my cheeks. In the end, we have such a short time in this world and that no matter how the world changes around us, some things always stay the same. How we affect those around us and the impact we have on their lives, how important love is, family, and friendship. Enjoying life to its fullest and sharing it with others. We are all just traveling in different boats, sailing through the ocean of life. Sometimes we brave storms, and sometimes we sail on quite calm seas, witnesses to the most beautiful and spectacular sunsets. That’s just… that’s just LIFE. What’s important is how kind, forgiving, and loving we are to each other when we do meet over our travels, because that is the only thing that remains as proof of our brief passage. That is the legacy we leave behind as we disappear into the horizon, quietly sailing away.
After graduation, a college good buddy and I took a road trip from California to Colorado in his drop-top Mustang. Not having lots of money, we mostly camped and ate at diners. But what a great trip it was to have wind in our faces and Sailing playing on the radio! We were free as the wind with not a worry in the world. Then came graduate schools and careers and we lost touch. Since then, I have taken many domestic and international trips, stayed at luxury hotels and cruised on 6 star ships. Yet I still consider that road trip as the best trip of my life.
If I had to choose just one song, this is the most beautiful pop song of all time. This fellow, Christopher Cross, wrote a debut album that is simply mind blowing. Right out of the gate, he put out really gorgeous pop music that can never be topped. Not by him, not by anybody, I dont think. 44 years later, still the most beautiful sounding pop song I ever heard.
“Soon I will be free” – as someone suffering from chronic depression due to difficulties that arise from trying to navigate a neurotypical world as a person on the autism spectrum, this particular line has several meanings to me, from hope for a better future to being one day released from my struggles through passing away.
Just got back from Panama City, Florida. Had this beautiful song on my mind the whole time. Didn’t mind the ear worm…sitting on the beach with my margarita and feeling it, whistling it, loving the pretty white sand and aquamarine water. I’m 68 years old, but it made me feel 26 again, the year this song came out.
This 80’s classic is 4min and 15sec of peace and tranquility..it won a Grammy for song of the year and I can understand why..this has got to be the most beautifully written and arranged songs ever..I’m floating on a cloud with nothing but peaceful thoughts in my everytime I hear this tune Thank you Christopher Cross for giving the world this song that will last forever and a day
In 1980 when this came out it was one of those songs that my mom and I listened to over and over. It defined that time for us (it was right after a car accident that put the two of us in the hospital for months and took the lives of two of my parents’ long-time friends) and we always reminisced over that time when we lived to tell the tale. Fast forward to September 15, 1987, my mom died from cancer when she was a couple months shy of turning 36, and I was 15. I still play this every anniversary of her death and cry my eyes out for hours as I play every song that reminds me of her and look at old pictures of her. Today is the 35 year anniversary of that day, but it feels like yesterday. I am so grateful that this song is such a special part of my (our) life and my soul. When I listen to it, it makes me feel like she’s still here with me, like I can just reach out and touch her. I would give anything to see her once more. But at least I have this song. And my heart goes out to all of those who have shared their heartfelt stories on here. I can truly relate.
This song…. This song brings up so many memories for me good and sad. My brother was our Mom and Dad because our parents were on drugs and left us with everyone that they could think of. The most of the time we only had each other. It was scary, sad, lonely and sometimes it even made us sick but as long as we had each other i knew that we would be ok. I was the youngest and my brothers were older than me. And this song takes me back to the good parts. I do thank my brother for being such an awesome mom and dad because of him im a Mom of 2 beautiful children and 2 beautiful grandchildren and married to my high school sweet heart ❤️. Thank you Lord 🙏
I’m a 12 year old and love older music because my grandpa passed away and listens to it with my dad and now me and my dad listen to it together and this is our song and I always wished I grew up in this time because although we didn’t have article games you wouldn’t even think of it because they barley were what they are today and just being friends with almost everyone it seemed like the world was a great place back then and this song will always mean something for me especially when my dad passes
One of the last times my dad was in our family home before my parents’ divorce was finalized, he went to my room and pulled up this tune. He recommended I get into Christopher Cross and a few 80s bands, and then he left. That was about 15 years ago. Found some old family photos today, and it all came rushing back. I knew I had to hear this tune. I have my own kids now, and I’m approaching my dad’s age on that evening. “I weep like a child for the past.”
This song is a memory of a better time. Before all of the current b.s. I weep for this generation. They have no concept of the soul and the music that touches it in a positive way like this song, and the times that this song came out. The 80’s were a blessed time looking back. I wish we could go back to those times, but at the same time looking forward to Jesus’ return.
Such a sweet melody 🎶….. reminds me of my husband who passed away in May of this year. We were married in 1980 the year this song was released. My husband was always out on the water. This morning I woke up with this song on my mind. I think he was sending me a sweet message. I can see him now on his boat fishing and sailing along the beautiful water off the coast of Florida…… Thank you for the memories and Thank you for writing / composing such a beautiful story ❤ @christophercross
I just discovered this song today. It’s giving me a sense of Nostalgia for a time i was never born in. I can’t explain it! It feels so calm, a nice lullaby. Like something that i have been missing and longing for. It feels so familiar, yet not. I truly love this song, and it has grown on me so quickly!
The anniversary of my brothers passing is May 29th. This year is two years already. He chartered a small plane in the Shuswap in BC here and article taped it all with this song in the background. We played it also at his celebration of life two years ago now. I still have a sad time about losing him to cancer also as he was a fireman like my Dad. This song has lots of memories to me of what he did on that chartered plane! Love and miss him dearly and buy a white rose, every year at this time. The white rose is the sign of farewell and some of his ashes are out here in BC with which the River took to the ocean. Farewell my brother!
This song reminds me of my mother’s commitment to her children, 1982. I was a blossoming mathematical mind, my father the Chairman of Psychology at Kutztown University. I loved life and dedicated several hours daily to the red and white swingset in our backyard in Topton, Pennsylvania. I had solved several equations that were considered impossible or extremely difficult at best during that time. Dr. William C. Worrell PhD, and Karon Ilik, thank you 🥺. We have lost touch since July 3, 1997 but I have always thought about you. Your combined DNA has solved Vos Savant’ s Prisoners Dilemma, the Fly problem, and a great part of Fermat’s Last Theory. You two never knew this while here on earth, because of my ongoing problems with alcoholism, but I have achieved a lot, academically and mentally.🥺
I came to listen to this tonight for some peace. My brother died tonight. He was a sailor, like my father, and loved being on the water. Years ago, he took me and my son on his boat for a few days, spending the nights in little new England island harbors. It was magic. Now he’s free, and back out there.
Such a beautiful song you can close your eyes & it takes you away from all the problems & suffering we have in our world today & it gives you that little bit of time to relax & think of happiness & good thoughts I love the sound of the ocean waves & maybe one day we will all sail into happiness & peace ❤
I lived in Mauritius for a year and used to go to the beach at 7am every morning to sit on the beach. I remember 1 particular day getting out of the water and sitting on a gorgeous beach looking at the sea and this came on a playlist on my phone. If captured the most perfect moment of peace and happiness . Every time I her this song my memory takes me back there it was just a magical moment . It’s such a beautiful song
My childhood was very bad. I clung to music for an escape. If only for a few minutes. I loved lots of different music. Especially jazz. WNUA 95.5 was the website i listened to the most. The first song that made me cry was boy for sale from oliver. I really related to that song, speaking as a child that grew up in the system. I heard sailing song randomly on a jazz station in chicago. I dont know how old i was maybe 11 or 12. It made me cry like a baby. The strings, the way he sang, mostly the lyrics. Lots of the single words he said, i used in my own thoughts. I was always thinkin that when i grow up ill be free from what i was going through. My innocence was taken from me when i was 3. Just so much. But all i wanted was a paradise. I wanted to be free. I had a vivd imagination and i could visualize me sailing in a boat. By myself and lookin out into the horizon with the sun in my face. Just free. Just the wind and the sails. The hope of soon being free. Every lyric of this song takes me there. Im a grown man now. im trying to save up for a boat and experience the same serenity and freedom chris was talking about. For my childhood self. Soon i will be free..
Chris. My mom and dad lived, and loved, every song on this amazing timeless album. And now, 40 years later………..jeez im old………..i am blessed enough to share your gift with my little girl…you have no idea how much joy you have bought to my family, via your art. God bless you! From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!!! Please be well, and be safe!!! God bless!!
LYRICS (YEAR 1980): Well, it’s not far down to paradise At least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away And find tranquility Oh, the canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see, believe me It’s not far to never never land No reason to pretend And if the wind is right you can find the joy Of innocence again Oh, the canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see, believe me Sailing Takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me Soon I will be free Fantasy It gets the best of me When I’m sailing All caught up in the reverie Every word is a symphony Won’t you believe me? Sailing Takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free Well, it’s not far back to sanity At least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away And find serenity Oh, the canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see, really, believe me Sailing Takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free
… : Well, it’s not far down to paradise, at least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see Baby believe me It’s not far to never-never land, no reason to pretend And if the wind is right you can find the joy of innocence again Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see Baby believe me Sailing takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free Fantasy, it gets the best of me When I’m sailing All caught up in the reverie, every word is a symphony Won’t you believe me? Sailing takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free Well it’s not far back to sanity, at least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away and find serenity Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see Baby believe me Sailing takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free
I’ve always, albeit somewhat subconscienciously, had an obsession with sailing. A friend once pointed out that every single wall painting I had hung in every single room had a sailboat in it somewhere, paintings I had carefully collected over 30 years .. but oddly had never noticed the connection between them all. This sing has always been a treasured favorite. It really tugs at my soul and transports me to that little slice of heaven that only the right breeze and a sturdy sail can do.
All of us want harmony in our life but to achieve that i think that we need to understand who we are fisrt and what we really want from our life. I believe that music can lead us in making clarity in our minds and so heping us in finding ourselves. To me this track is one of those able to do this. It takes us away from painful or noisy times our of life also bringing back some piece and love that we need to move forward. The power of music is beyond our comprehension 💫❤
I was only maybe age 7 when this madterpece came out in the radio for airplay. At that time thought it wasn’t justba pretty somg about a sailboat on a lake. Now that i am age 50 now, i rediscovered this masterpiece by Christopher Cross. Reminded of is this gem while perusal a news caption on his battle with long CoVid… There are so interpretations to the lyrics . I feel so nostalgic and yet at peace when i hear with a more mature ear. Chris, i have more love and respect for you now. You are an inspiring, underrated an gentle giant who has found new praise from me. Continue to recover and share your gift to your fans of all ages. You got it back after Covid. Plus, i learned you can also play kicjl butt guitar riffs on “Ride like the Wind”,too. You rock and inspire me all around🎉 Peace, Evan
I can remember being younger on a Seattle ferry boat perusal the skyline of Seattle come into view while this song was being played didn’t think to much of it then, 35 Years later I hear this song and it brought me back to Seattle and it’s beautiful surrounding views if boats in the water, skyline approaching and felt comfort and relaxed.
I’m half a century old and really appreciate this song. When I was younger, I had no time or interest in this song. It was……. schmaltz (in my mind, anyway). I was into heavier, edgier, grittier music. Ahh….life has changed me so much that I xan really like this music AND still rock out to the old stuff I used to listen to back when I was young, single, thin and carefree. Wishing peace and happiness to everyone. 🙏
It’s 4th of July weekend and I ran into some old family members reminiscing on our childhood as favorite cousins how we BEGGED to stay the night over at each others house to play article games til 2 and 3 in the morning. They’ll never know how deep those memories impacted my life because they’re brothers and see each other and speak to each other often but as for me those took away from the abuse and rejection I got from others they just made me feel so much closer than just a cousin and I’m forever grateful for it ❤
This song is truly TRANSCENDANT! This gentleman never, ever disappoints. Every song he’s done is excellent! But this one goes well beyond that. A musical version of the ” Serenity Prayer ” if ever there was one…….better than counting to ten during some of life’s harsher moments…….Thank-you Christopher Cross ( I’d venture to say you have saved lives with this masterpiece!!). Note to Christopher Cross: You have made so many lives richer by sharing your true gift of song….. I know all of us out here are praying for your speedy recovery! Stay strong, and God bless!!
I feel like I missed a beautiful time when this song was No.1 in 1980. It makes me so nostalgic even though I’ve never personally experienced it. So do the 50’s. I just wish I was here to experience this world when it was not so complicated and scary. Thank you for being here with me now and sharing this song.
I have loved this song ever since it first came out. In the summer of 1980, I was selling cookware and the prize at the end of ten weeks was an all expense trip to Bermuda. This song was on the radio frequently and I would sing along as it played. Out of 200 salemen that summer, I came in number 11, earning the trip completely. I credit this song for that.
Can I say how I love how so many people from so many backgrounds and experiences have found joy in this song. For me, my dad was stationed in Puerto Rico when the song came out and the Armed Forces Network used to play Sailing with a scene of a small boat sailing around the island during dead air times. Christopher Cross and Sailing are gifts that keep on giving.
I remember this song from the summer of 1980. I was madly in love with this girl who break my heart less than a year later and this song always reminded me of her. For the longest time, if I heard those opening chords, it was like knife going right into my heart. Even today when I hear it, I can still remember that pain.
Well it’s not far down to paradise At least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away And find tranquility The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me It’s not far to never never land No reason to pretend And if the wind is right you can find the joy Of innocence again The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me Sailing Takes me away To where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free Fantasy It gets the best of me When I’m sailing All caught up in the reverie Every word is a symphony Won’t you believe me It’s not far back to sanity At least it’s not for me And when the wind is right you can sail away And find serenity The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me
This song plays as I talk with my real mom spirit, and I also miss her so much. I was 23 years old, losing my mom forever on July 4th, 2003. She had a good heart, and we talked about different things as this song plays in the background. She always smiles as we talk, and those are special spiritual experiences to share with anyone who has lost a loved one. One day, we all will be reunion with our love ones after crossing over.
It’s not far down to paradise At least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away And find tranquility The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me It’s not far to never never land No reason to pretend And if the wind is right you can find the joy Of innocence again The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me Sailing Takes me away To where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free Fantasy It gets the best of me When I’m sailing All caught up in the reverie Every word is a symphony Won’t you believe me Sailing Takes me away To where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free It’s not far back to sanity At least it’s not for me And when the wind is right you can sail away And find serenity The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me Sailing Takes me away To where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free
This song has so much importance to my life. I could write an essay here to even TRY to express my love for this song. I drove my family NUTS listening to this song over and over when I was young, Even my Grandmother who is no longer here with us, would say “STOP PLAYING THAT SONG!!” But I guarantee she loved it almost as much as I did. She just got sick of hearing over and over and over again. In my top 10 favorite songs of all time.
Some of the first memories I have of great songwriting truly emotionally-charged music. Kind of music that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The first time I truly felt the emotions of someone dying this song was involved. Every time I hear the song it brings me off to another place in my mind. This kind of music resets your soul
I imagine myself on sailing on a beautiful day wherever I listen to this song; the canvas CAN do miracles; and the sea and the total experience. Serendipity and serene! Nature and silence are my two best friends and sailing offers that on the good days; sometimes there are bad days; however, life’s like that…& the beat goes on!
This has been my favorite all time song since it came out when I was 10. Now, I live and work where Christopher Cross himself has been right in front of me on several occasions, and due to my profession I have to remain “professional” but in my head I’m screaming…Christopher Cross!! You wrote my all time favorite song EVER!! I love you sooo much!! Christopher Cross!!! lol
My friend’s mom loved this song, but I never got to meet her as she died a few years before. Listening to this still makes me feel so much, I can’t even describe how I feel. Every word does feel like a symphony, like a lifetime in every note. And two months ago my Dad died…I feel helpless, scared, my faith’s been shaken and my heart has a dagger in it, half hurt and half gone. Life is beautiful and yet…it’s still sad. Love fills my heart but it still feels empty. Music is healing my soul slowly but surely, but I’ll always remember the 35 years I had with him.
Well, it’s not far down to paradise, at least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see Believe me It’s not far to never-never land, no reason to pretend And if the wind is right you can find the joy of innocence again Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see Believe me Sailing takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free Fantasy, it gets the best of me When I’m sailing All caught up in the reverie, every word is a symphony Won’t you believe me? Sailing takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free Well it’s not far back to sanity, at least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away and find serenity Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see Really, believe me Sailing takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free
20 plus years ago I travelled the states my last stop was newyork I boarded the boat to statue of liberty and on my radio on came this song the rhythm of the boat across the water was in in synchronisation of the water or so it seemed,I often play this song it’s a gem and it takes me right back to that beautiful picture of a day❤
As someone who struggles with chronic anxiety and has to work on the front lines in grocery during the pandemic, hearing songs like this is like a miracle from above telling me it will all be ok in the end. My anxiety has been the worst it has ever been thanks to being unable to hang out with my boyfriend due to fear of the virus, dealing with anti-maskers, and all the news of America falling apart every single day. Sometimes I just go to cry in the cooler for an hour because it is all too much and when I get home all I want to do is not talk to anyone, not even the very special person in my life. Listening to this song helps to give me the mental vacation I so desperately need. Thinking about myself painting on a canvas in the tropics, sailing on a sunset sea, and holding hands with those I love. It all seems like a far off dream to me.
This song takes me way back, but even more so it is my “inspiration” song. I was an addict for a long time and on the verge of being done with everything. I decided to get myself clean and when I arrived in Philadelphia, PA on Oct 17, 1997 this is the first song that played on the radio. I just said to myself this is what I need and each reach I play it as a reminder that life is always good, no matter how bad days may be. Keep fighting, never give up and live. Thank you Christopher Cross for being there even though you didn’t know it.
