What To Wear On A Nile Cruise In January?

Beach attire is acceptable on felucca cruises and Nile cruises, while shorts are suitable for winter cruises. Men should wear a seamless blend of sun protection, health precautions, and practical accessories for a comfortable and enriching experience along the majestic Nile River in Egypt.

For winter Nile cruises, it is unlikely to get cold during the day but it is recommended to pack a light jacket or cardigan just in case. A heavier and warmer jacket is also recommended for evenings if necessary.

While relaxing on board, shorts and swimming costumes can be worn, and breakfast and lunch can be dressed casually. There are no formal nights or theme nights on Nile Cruises, so resort casual attire is recommended. Slacks, dresses, trousers, capris, and blouses are suitable for both men and women. Light colors are recommended for comfort, while dark colors tend to be more chilly.

Cotton T-shirts are suitable for both men and women, and can be layered with cardigans, jumpers, and other items. Light and comfortable fabrics like cotton and linen are ideal, and maxi skirts or convertible skirts are suggested for women. Linen is also suitable for evenings on the boat.

In busy city areas, ladies should avoid clingy, tight, suggestive attire and opt for cool flowing cottons like long-sleeved shirts and pants.

Can you sunbathe in Egypt in January?

January is an excellent time to head to the beaches as well. The weather will be in the low 70s which isn’t scorching hot but still warm enough to swim and sunbathe. Try out Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, or Hurghada for top-rate food, entertainment, and nightlife.

Another great option is to head south where temperatures will be higher but not to the point of being uncomfortable. Aswan and Abu Simbel are both fantastic cities to visit this time of the year, particularly if you don’t like the idea of the cold nights up north. Given how stiflingly hot these destinations are during other parts of the year, it’s really the best time to go if they’re on your bucket list.

Does Egypt get cold in January?

Egypt is in North Africa across the Red Sea from the Middle East. The Sahara Desert dominates the country, which means it has warm weather all year round. Temperatures are quite a bit cooler in January compared to summer, especially at night time, so it’s the perfect time to book your Egypt holidays if you prefer to stay away from scorching heat. It hardly rains in most of the country, which includes the popular Red Sea Riviera. The Sinai Peninsula has almost no rain all year round because of the Atlas Mountains, and this is where you’ll find Sharm El Sheikh. Hurghada’s just across the Red Sea to the west.

The average high in popular Sharm El Sheikh is 22ºC in January, meaning it’s still lovely for relaxing on the beach so make sure you pack some sun cream. The temperature cools in the evenings, so bring some warmer clothes with you. The sea temperature is 23ºC, while humidity is low. There’s just a single millimetre of rain and you can expect 11 hours of daylight with eight hours of sunshine each day. UV levels will be moderate but still wear sun cream. Sunset’s just after 5pm for much of January.

Do people dress up for dinner on river cruises?

Congratulations! You’ve planned to embark on an exciting River Cruise with American Cruise Lines. The question is “What to wear?” The good news is that river cruising is much different than large ship cruising, with a more casual, laidback onboard atmosphere. There is no formal dress code, and you can do as much or as little as you choose. However, it is helpful to be prepared, and less is more.

Review The Cruise Itinerary. You’ll want to consider your day-to-day activities detailed on your cruise itinerary. Daily excursions could include a Great River Outdoor Adventure or a Cajun Pride Swamp Excursion, or be more leisurely like the Civil Rights Museum or Historic Vicksburg. Regardless of the specific attire, you may need for more active activities, you will definitely want to pack your best walking shoes to get you comfortably around all of the ports we visit.

Travel Light. Plan to bring one suitcase per traveler, preferably one less than 10 inches high so that it may be stored under the bed. Also, bring a smaller purse or bag for daytime excursions. Many of the cities and towns we visit include walking or bike tours, so you’ll want to be sure you have a separate bag to keep your belongings (extra clothes, water, etc.).

Is January a good time for a Nile cruise?

Best Time for a Nile River Cruise. The best time to cruise the Nile River is between October and April. With blue skies and mild temperatures that don’t usually exceed 26°C, travelers can make the most of offshore day trips and explore Egypt’s top tourist attractions, such as the Giza pyramids and Luxor temples. However, as this is the river’s high season, accommodation prices tend to increase, especially during the December holidays.

Best Time for Snorkeling and Diving the Red Sea. Summer months from June to August may be too hot for some sightseers, but they offer the perfect conditions for scuba diving and snorkeling in Sharm el-Sheikh, El Gouna, Marsa Alam, and other dive sites in the Red Sea. You can dive year-round in Egypt, but these months boast the calmest waters and clearest underwater visibility. Plus, the Mediterranean coast tends to be cooler, with the sea breeze providing some relief from the heat.

Best Time for Cultural Events. While some Egypt tour packages include special cultural events, it depends on the time of year you choose to visit. Besides celebrating the holidays in December, winter experiences include the Coptic Christmas in January and Abu Simbel Festival in February. Locals celebrate Sham El-Nessim in April to mark the coming of spring, then hold the Wafaa El-Nil festival in August as a tribute to the great Nile River.

Can you swim on a cruise ship in January?

Expect sea temperatures in the mid-to-low seventies (23C) in January. This may mean extended water time will require a light wetsuit for comfort. You can find cruises that include Puerto Vallarta on Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity, Holland America, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean.

Just remember to cover up from your shoulders to below the knee. While women are expected to dress more conservatively than men, even the fellas should leave the short shorts and tight singlets at home. What should female travellers wear in Egypt? Also, avoid packing anything in white.

Also, avoid packing anything in white. While standing in front of the pyramids in an all-white linen suit makes for a great photo, the desert dust will quickly turn those light-coloured clothes a not-so-delightful shade of brown.

If you’re traveling outside of winter, don’t underestimate the cool change that can come in the evenings, especially if you spend the night in the desert or on a Nile cruise. A light fleece or jacket should be sufficient to keep you warm on Egypt’s chillier nights.

In terms of footwear, sneakers and/or sandals made for walking are essential. Pathways on historical sites are often rocky and uneven, and the footpaths in the main cities aren’t much better.

Caribbean Cruise Weather in January and February. Even in the middle of winter, Caribbean cruise weather feels like a tropical oasis. As the start of the dry season, January yields the least amount of rain all year. While climates will vary depending on which region you’re sailing, expect temperatures to range from the upper 80s during the day to the mid-60s in the evening. If you’re cruising to ports like Aruba or Bonaire in the Southern Caribbean, you’ll likely experience the warmest conditions, as they’re the closest to the equator. Take advantage of the unique winter climates by jet skiing along one of Aruba’s pristine beaches or strolling through the lush botanical gardens in Martinique.

Caribbean Cruise Weather in March and April. The Caribbean springs to life in March and April as festival season begins. With slightly warmer temperatures and little-to-no-clouds in sight, there are even more reasons to celebrate. Visit Grand Cayman in April and experience Cayfest, the island’s annual celebration of art, music and cultural diversity. During the dry season, let the radiant sun feed your imagination without worry of anyone — or anything — raining on your parade. With waters around 75 degrees Fahrenheit, take a dip in the Caribbean Sea while visiting Bamboo Beach Club. Even Eastern Caribbean islands — like Princess Cays® in the Bahamas — anticipate ideal Caribbean cruise weather.

Caribbean Cruise Weather in May and June. Summer weather forecasts on a Caribbean cruise bring a variety of flavors to each region. While the Southern Caribbean maintains its sunny disposition, other destinations welcome refreshing ocean breezes. Occasional light showers are the perfect excuse to head inside and tour the Graycliff Chocolatier, where you can create your own decadent masterpiece with local ingredients like mango and lime. Or sip on an aromatic flight of wines at Bahama Barrels while hearing stories from locals. Then, cruise into clearer conditions and partake in one of the many music festivals that dot the rural roads like the Pure Grenada Music Festival in May or the St. Kitts Music Festival in June. Whether swimming in the crystalline ocean or singing in the refreshing rain, come prepared with a light rain jacket, loose clothing and a heart full of wonder.

Jeepsterchick – it’s not “no short” – but rather chilly for shorts. The temperatures can actually drop 30-degrees from daytime highs close to or above 90-degrees. It’s a good idea to have a lite-weight jacket or shawl; and the boat indoors is air conditioned.

So nice casual is just fine. If you’re lucky enough during your daytime shopping to find some interesting inexpensive scarves these are great to dress up a pair of slacks/sweater or whatever you choose for evening.

And most boats have one night for their Gallabeya Party where guests dress up as “Egyptians,” as does the crew. You can find a gallabeya at most shore stops (which are also nice as gifts and inexpensive; maybe $10 for adult size men’s of women’s), or any other traditional clothing; most boats also have items available for rent at inexpensive fees. These parties can be lots of fun.

We returned one month ago from our trip to Egypt and sailed on the A&K Nile Adventurer.Evening meals were neat casual dress except for the “Egyptian” Night when we purchased our costumes for $US8 approx on board.Yes it can get cool of a night so a jacket was very useful!Have a great trip, the Egyptian people are very friendly and welcoming.
