What To Clean Kayak With?

To clean a kayak, use warm soapy water and a sponge to wash it. Rinse the soap off the kayak and dry it with a microfiber cloth. Treat mildew with a weak bleachwater solution to kill and remove mold. Store the kayak in a dry environment. A mix of soap and water works well in most cases, but a dedicated boat cleaning solution, spray, or all-purpose cleaner could work.

A gentle soap that is boat-safe is best. Dawn dish detergent, TSP (trisodium phosphate), and a magic eraser are recommended. If soap and water are not enough, use a brush and car wash soap. Polyethylene kayaks can be cleaned with mild soap and water, and a quick rinse of fresh water is all that is necessary to keep the hull clean and functioning.

If a stubborn stain is encountered, use a medium bristle brush to break down the dirt in the area. Wash the kayak with a garden hose to remove surface dirt, pollen, debris, and sea salt. Store the kayak in a dry environment.

Your kayak is designed to need minimal maintenance, so a simple fresh water rinse or mild soap washing is all that is needed, especially if the stain is stubborn.
