The Navy is a military term that refers to a group of people who actively participate in canoeing, a watercraft designed and outfitted for warfare. The Ka Mamalahoe Canoe Club provides adaptive paddling activities year round for approximately 100 Soldiers, offering pristine views and tranquil atmospheres. War canoes are watercraft of the canoe type designed and outfitted for warfare, found in various forms in many world cultures.
The Royal Canoe Club (RCC), founded in 1866, is the oldest canoe club in the world and received royal patronage in the 19th century. The club promotes canoeing and kayaking. The Washington Canoe Club was originally built on pilings facing the Potomac River. In the 1960s, the Army Corps of Engineers demolished the piers of the Potomac Canoe Club.
Canoeing is considered a war crime, as it amounts to desecration of the bodies of enemies, which is prohibited by The Hague and other international treaties. The Outrigger Canoe Club is proud of its members who have served and continue to serve, as well as all the men and women who serve unselfishly in the armed services to protect our country and our freedom.

What is canoe race?
Canoe racing is a water sport. The sport normally takes place on water that is moving very slowly or not moving at all. The goal of the sport is to move the canoe a given distance in the shortest time. This sport is an Olympic event. At one time, wooden boats were used for racing. Over time, people started using boats made of carbon fibers. These boats are lighter and tougher than wooden boats.
There are two main types of races. These are canoe (C1, C2, C4) and kayak (K1, K2, K4). The number tells how many people are on the boat. In a kayak, a person sits. In a canoe, a person kneels on one knee. A kayak has a rudder. It is used to steer the boat. A canoeist (person who uses a canoe) uses the paddle to move the boat. This is done by moving the paddle from the bow to the stern (front to back). After each race, the boats are looked at to make certain they are legal. If a boat does not have enough weight, the racer is disqualified and cannot win the race.
Races are divided into several groups based on how long they are.

What is a war canoe race?
For decades, paddling regattas across Canada have featured an official event called war canoe, in which 14 crewmates kneel and paddle as one in a long boat, with the coxswain standing and steering at the back.
However, when Dr. Janice Forsyth showed a picture of this boat to traditional Indigenous paddlers, they laughed: “That’s not a war canoe!”
Traditional Indigenous versions of “war canoe” are very different from the version sanctioned by Canoe Kayak Canada, the sport’s national governing body. Dr. Forsyth, a member of the Fisher River Cree Nation and professor in UBC’s school of kinesiology, has been researching the history and evolution of both practices.
Why is it called a canoe?
The word canoe came into English from the Spanish/Portuguese word canoa, which in turn was adopted from the Arawakan languages of the Caribbean for a dugout canoe, kanawa.
Many peoples have made dugout canoes throughout history, carving them out of a single piece of wood: either a whole trunk or a slab of trunk from particularly large trees. Dugout canoes go back to ancient times. The Dufuna canoe, discovered in Nigeria, dates back to 8500-8000 BC. The Pesse canoe, discovered in the Netherlands, dates back to 8200-7600 BC. Excavations in Denmark reveal the use of dugouts and paddles during the Ertebølle period, (c. 5300– c. 3950 BC).
Canoes played a vital role in the colonisation of the pre-Columbian Caribbean, as they were the only means of reaching the Caribbean Islands from mainland South America. Around 3500 BC, ancient Amerindian groups colonised the first Caribbean Islands using single-hulled canoes. Only a few pre-Columbian Caribbean canoes have been found. Several families of trees could have been used to construct Caribbean canoes, including woods of the mahogany family (Meliaceae) such as the Cuban mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni), that can grow up to 30–35 m tall and the red cedar (Cedrela odorata), that can grow up to 60 m tall, as well as the ceiba genus (Malvacae), such as Ceiba pentandra, that can reach 60–70 m in height. It is likely that these canoes were built in a variety of sizes, ranging from fishing canoes holding just one or a few people to larger ones able to carry as many as a few dozen, and could have been used to reach the Caribbean Islands from the mainland. Reports by historical chroniclers claim to have witnessed a canoe “containing 40 to 50 Caribs (…) when it came out to trade with a visiting English ship”.

What does the canoe symbolize?
The canoe is an object with a complicated past. It has long been, and continues to be, a physical and symbolic tool of settler colonialism. But it also remains a symbol and tool of Indigenous nationhood, resilience, and resurgence. … For settler Canadians, attending to the past and present of canoe colonialism is an important part of decolonizing the canoe and nurturing respectful relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in this country, but it is only a part. To be truly transformative, education must be accompanied by action. For settler canoeists, this might begin by building relationships and cultivating ethical paddling practices. On whose territory do you wish to canoe? How does that nation understand respectful relations with the land, and what are your obligations as a visitor? Is that nation fighting to protect their territory or to gain access to their territory? How can you support them? Of course, these questions are just a beginning. As Leanne Simpson reminds us, the canoe is but one of many things stolen from Indigenous peoples. True reconciliation requires the full restoration of land and lifeways to Indigenous nations.
What does canoe mean smoking?
Canoeing a joint is when a joint burns on one side but not the other (or, more accurately, it burns more on one side than the other). This uneven burn causes the joint to look like a canoe because it’s open on one side (hence the name).

What is the meaning of war canoe?
A war canoe is a watercraft of the canoe type designed and outfitted for warfare, and which is found in various forms in many world cultures. In modern times, such designs have become adapted as a sport, and “war canoe” can mean a type of flatwater racing canoe.
War canoes were used in Africa, Austronesia, Americas and Europe to transport troops and supplies, and engage targets onshore. While documentation of canoe versus canoe battles on the open ocean is rare, records from the 14th century mention various peoples of West Africa using huge fighting canoes in inland waters, some up to 80 feet (24m) and carrying over 100 men. Construction of the war canoe was typically from one massive tree trunk, with the silk cotton tree being particularly useful. The inside was dug out and carved using fire and hand tools. Braces and stays were used to prevent excessive expansion while the fire treatment was underway. Fire also served to release sap as a preservative against insect pests. Some canoes had 7 to 8 feet (2.1 to 2.4m) of width inside, accommodating benches for rowers, and facilities such as fireplaces and sleeping berths.
Warriors on board were typically armed with shield, spear and bow. In the gunpowder era, small iron or brass cannon were sometimes mounted on the bow or stern, although the firepower delivered from these areas and weapons was relatively ineffective. Musketeers delivering fire to cover raiding missions generally had better luck. The typical tactic was to maneuver close to shore, discharge weapons, then quickly pull out to open water to reload, before dashing in again to repeat the cycle. Troop and supply transport were the primary missions, but canoe versus canoe engagements in the lagoons, creeks and lakes of West Africa were also significant.
What is canoeing in the Navy Seals?
I just found this on a SEAL team glossary site: “Canoeing” is the act of aiming a final gunshot through the top of the victim’s forehead such that the head splits open to form a V like the bow of a canoe.
📹 This Month at Canoe Club | July 2024
We’re starting a monthly vlog! Here’s a little recap of July here at Canoe Club– excited to grow this series even more in months to …
I remember a guy telling me about the first time he shot an 8 year old boy in Vietnam. He said, he was a very competent fighter with a firearm. He definitely was trained to kill American soldiers. He said I got over it after I seen it happen a few times. Youth that is radicalized and trained from a young age to make bombs, become sappers, handle firearms and other explosives… They are the enemy. Is it tragic? Sure. But that’s War, one tragedy to the next until it’s over.
Well when a person spends alot of time dodging bullets. Seeing death . perusal their friends die. Seeing women and children being raped . and dealing with an enemy that can be called savages…it changes you as a person. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just saying its hard to pass judgement unless you have walked in his boots
No he should’ve been demoted because in bootcamp we are CONSTANTLY reminded of our Navy core values and how one is supposed to act during times of war and what it means to eliminate the threat. They honestly had him surrounded and they should’ve taken the kid as a POW or something. Kid was no longer a threat and i know damn well it would be a different reaction if it was Chief who was stabbed to death and taken a picture of with his killers posing. Right? They are fighting for all the same things we are fighting for. He literally broke a handful of ucmj articles so what the actual fuck.
When you try to explain the supposed actions, it’s hard to word it. “he stabbed an un-armed isis terrorist” vs “he stabbed an un-armed civilian” these are two different people and trying to word it is difficult when you KNOW the person who’s the “victim” (which he wasn’t) is a terrorist which makes it difficult to paint the picture that it was some unsuspecting innocent person who was murdered by Gallagher
I don’t want to say or do this. I have very good friends who are or were Navy SEALs, and they’re very good people, yet it is only my respect for them which has held my tongue thus far. The Navy SEALs are light infantry. You can tell because they do not have boats or planes or tanks of their own. As capable as they are, there is no reason why experienced riflemen could not be even more capable than Navy SEALs. They are perhaps the best that non-war time American training can produce. It is very likely that experienced combat units would make Navy SEALs look like little children.
If your not willing to go to the same lengths as your enemy in battle, you already lost the war,or some thing along them lines, Art of war, also another one we could have learned about the TALIban and I.S, when you put out a fire you must be sure to extinguish every ember, for just a single ember can ignite a whole forest fire .
Seals are literally trained assassins. Highly trained elite assassins. They aren’t regular army, they don’t go on regular missions, they shouldn’t have to abide by the regular rules. When seals go out, the stakes are high every single time. Seals don’t just go on a convoy and look for fights. They are the ones that our enemies are afraid of.
You know, while all of our military and especially the elite forces have to do things on a daily basis that 99% of us could not and would not be able to do, definitely myself included, there is a higher standard for conduct. Whether we like it or not or we agree with it or not, and I still understand that at the same time there will be actions that blur the lines. Why did the president get involved? Because the person in question was an avid supporter of him. We know that to be true of our president. And, even though the enemy in question was basically a boy and an Isis fighter, he was clearly injured and surrounded by at least 11 of the most elite armed forces that we possess. What danger was he at the time? Was it necessary that he was stabbed to death and for the defendant to pose for a picture with his corpse The Standard that we want? I mean, I fully understand that he is the enemy and he has done horrible things but why not throw his ass in prison over there? All of it was unnecessary, as the minute we stop looking at any life as human life Is the moment that we lose our own Humanity. I appreciate everything that our soldiers do and I can’t imagine the emotional and physical toll that war has on them but that’s where we step up and take care of then when they get home. all of these people saying something yet I guarantee they’ve never done a thing for the Armed Forces. Not only have I donated money for 20 years, those are 15 years I wrote letters to deployed soldiers and sent thousands of dollars in care packages.
Active Duty Navy and I have served with Navy Seals, not down range but during the planning and briefing of ops. Make no mistake if he did do anything that he was accused of he is a war criminal. It does not matter how you view as you are probably not judge under UCMJ and the civilian courts. The former CNO was correct abt the statement with trump. He is simply not versed on the standard of the military to speak on it. Also as things came out both Jr. and senior enlisted /officers began to frown upon his actions. I will say the conversation always started like “if he did do it”.
I LOVE the SEALS…..but @ 0:55 in the article, that wasn’t a “limp body he was standing over…”. That was a still alive human being. There is SO much going on in and leading up to and even after this. It’s a battlefield. All articles should have been released, of everyone, but that is literally impossible in the context of tactics and military secrets. This was a sad, sad situation with NO winners ANYWHERE in the world, no matter the view, religion, nationality, or even morality. This was as muddy a case as can be muddy. These are not the enemies that were around when the Geneva convention was signed. Humanity couldn’t even BEGIN to fathom the horrific things the evil people do now. I saw a guy bound up getting tortured on a website. There was a tank driving by. This was before they re-took Ramadi. The guy was so beat up and his face so disfigured with blood everywhere…. His hands were bound behind his back with his arms tied to his torso so they couldn’t move a millimeter. His ankles were tied together quite tightly. As this tank was driving by the guy, you could see him cut his eyes subtly towards the tank coming…bunny hopped 4 or 5 times quick as could be, screaming in agony at what I am certain were leg injuries, and threw himself under one of the tracks of a Soviet T-72 Ural Main Battle Tank (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-72), where approx. 88,000lbs (44,000 Kilograms for the rest of the world) ran him over. The terrorist fighters that were beating him started cheering jubilantly and got the tank driver’s attention and informed him of his “kill”, whereupon he was beyond excited and happy and proceeded to run the wet spot on the road over and over.
Just because you have that trident does not automatically mean that you a good man. The job does not make you who you are, it is an extension of who you already were. Don’t treat us any differently from regular people just because we wear a uniform. We’re all normal people just like you, and unfortunately not everyone (even SEALS) are completely morally sound. Judge veterans by their character and their actions, not by what they wear.
I am Australian, I am proud and grateful to be. Ive never been in any of our Defence Forces, however my parents, grandparents, great grandparent and great great granparent were all in RAAF, Australian Milirary Force and/or Australian Imperial Force. A result of my families sacrifice and their service history I was able to understand, appreciate, respect, be proud and thankful for their service. That said all people whom are too ignorant/stupid/intentionally uninformed that there is always “two sides to a coin” and that saying is true to all experiences or over the world. The point that I am making is this; All people, in every country, whom have defence force members willing to sacrice their life so that all people from said countries can live a great and safe life. Therefore each and every person whom benefits from their countries defence force members should be grateful. With regard to this article the same saying is relevant, BUT RELEVANT OR NOT THE FACT THAT THE PLATOON’S LEADER IS BEING BETRAYED BY MEMBERS OF HIS SEAL TEAM 7 IS DISGUSTING AND UNJUSTIFIED. Without doubt the platoon leader and all members of Seal Team 7 would have put their life on the line numerous times. Respect my comment or don’t, try to understand my comment or don’t but if you don’t understand or respect feel free to say so or be mature and start up a discussion with me with the intent of having a calm and mutually beneficial discussion.
I’m not saying what he did was just finished because I wasn’t there and can’t even imagine what’s going through a soldiers mind when you got people trying to kill you constantly no my disappointment is in his fellow navy seals who sang like a group of Canary’s, jeez aren’t they trained in not giving up information by the enemy etc but three their fellow soldier under the bus 🚐 ???? What happened to the code or brotherhood? Those guys were way too helpful and eager to help in the investigation!!?! God 🙏 bless our military men and women who keep our country safe and a special prayer for those that gave their lives AMEN
You teach them to kill bad guys then get mad when they kill bad guys? ISIS does not follow these same rules neither does Russia or most of our enemies just look at all the citizens in Ukraine killed at the hands of blood thirsty soldiers. War is ugly and sometimes its ok to fight evil with evil in my opinion.
Any normal inexperienced soldier will not be the same after experiencing shocking extreme wartime situations. Navy seals are humans who actually need more psychological counseling than the average soldier because they are often in the thick of the horror of war. If these guys are not monitored or corrected when needed things go out of control very fast. It is especially these elite warriors that must hold the ethical conduct and milliary laws high. You bet there are psychopaths within these special forces and if you give them the certainty to be able to get away with “conduct unbecomming” and be protected by their officers its waiting for disintergation of the teams. I think president trump doesnt understand how important it is for forces like green barrets and seals to know where the borders are..
On April 28, 1967, with the United States at war in Vietnam, Ali refused to be inducted into the armed forces, saying “I ain’t got no quarrel with those Vietcong.” On June 20, 1967, Ali was convicted of draft evasion, sentenced to five years in prison, fined $10,000 and banned from boxing for three years. He stayed out of prison as his case was appealed and returned to the ring on October 26, 1970, knocking out Jerry Quarry in Atlanta in the third round. On March 8, 1971, Ali fought Joe Frazier in the “Fight of the Century” and lost after 15 rounds, the first loss of his professional boxing career. On June 28 of that same year, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned his conviction for evading the draft.
Imagine being programmed to kill at a literal elite level And then the same people who trained you and trained alongside you go yeah man he killed too much I dont condone war but that really just seems like such an asinine situation Also imagine being dropped into war after youve been programmed and trained, seeing the horrors of it all, and then being judged for the way it changed you by the very people you for for and with Also how can this man be tried for “war crimes” while both the us government and military industrial complex have never been held accountable for their literal war crimes like bombing hospitals, using white phospherous bombs, waging proxy wars with us tax dollars in africa and abroad for years and years, etc The hypocrisy of this country knows no bounds
If you read the full list of what Gallagher has been acused of – both in war and his personal life – you’ll see that this is less about a soldier doing what he has to do in extreme circumstances, and more about a man who might be a violent psychopath. Just see what his fellow seals have accused him of – imagine how bad things have to be for soldiers to snitch on other soldiers.
The guy towards the end of the article I don’t know if he’s a politician or top brass in the military talking about war fighters are professional. The average marine is more professional than the politicians that decide to invade countries for no reason other than power money and to take away Americans rights in the name of terrorism. They killed hundreds of thousands if not, millions of people for no reason. I know the Taliban do cruel things to people, however, I can’t blame them for protecting their country. If my hometown or state or country was invaded by foreign people I would fight back to. And now that we know that 911 was an inside job and it, had to of had explosives put on the support beams of the building in order to fall in freefall and fall into the basement. That just shows that our government killed thousands and thousands of people from the day of 911 but all of the people that all of the toxic Stuff in the air and died of cancer or other medical issues. They did all of this so they could progress the New World order agenda take our surveillance us, etc.. Our politicians are the ones that need to be arrested and blasted all over the news websites about the crimes they committed.
”A war fighter has standards”. First of all that’s a Seal not your regular warfighter and seals do not oblige to standard rules. Those guys kill terror on a daily basis. Second of all, yeah, such an unprofessional move to butcher someone who was actively the member of a terror organization which has nothing to do with standards and humanity in general. I bet it’s fucking awesome to say all that crap while sitting in your luxury office to deal with a bunch of paper work. Get the fuck out of here.. He DID NOT kill a teenager. Teens do drama, go to school, fall in love, hang out with their friends he killed an arm combatant who deliberately chose to participate in terror and carnage. Promote the man don’t shame him.
everyone talkin bout how it’s unethical, however war crimes don’t exist in the middle east, the US shouldn’t be held to a certain standard when the enemy isn’t either. This isn’t a normal war, you have to fight fire with fire and if an american 17 year old was captured by ISIS he would have been tortured much worse regardless of his military affiliation or not
You people backing Eddie Gallagher…just look at the picture where he is posing with his knife he killed a kid with. A manipulated kid. If you are going to kill the kid, kill him. But why do you need to take a picture? For a keep sake memento like a serial killer keeping an item from his victim as a trophy. This picture tells me what goes on in that man’s mind.
He isn’t the only psycho that join the military, he is a murderer but back then we turned a blind eye, only when they believed they didn’t need these crazies did they start trying to prosecute or kick them out. Which is wrong, I can’t stand men like this but you can’t say yea keep going your a hero when it benefits you and then condemn them when they aren’t needed. That I thought was wrong, kick him out sure but to try and put him in prison is wrong. Do it from the start or don’t do it at all.
This guy is doing the dirty work… You want crimes, go aboard a ship and witness each division sacrifice one of their own to destroy one man with all of their slacking. Every ship does, some more than others, and especially my old ship. Congressional investigation into what took place against our own people. 10% of the crew were honorably/medically discharged for psychological traumas and yet this man is reciprocating… He got it easy compared to all those innocent, beheaded Syrians.
People on here saying that they would have done the same thing, even worse. This is true, but then what makes us different? We are civilised. And secondly what good does killing someone do, it is far more valuable to military intelligence to bring him back alive and have him interrogated. Please try and look at the bigger picture here.
I’m sorry but I don’t think people understand that that kid could have been forced into isis and was the only way he got food or too even live and then the army men all say the same thing but there captain says there lying and sues and wants the proof gone it’s just my opinion but I really don’t think he deserved to be stabbed to death they could have help him a minor get a better life.
Also dont forget about the ideology of a culture or a people. Regardless of how we Americans feel the ppl of that country also have thought process. If joining isis as a terrorist is what they can do to fight for what they believe in then so be it. We have our orders but also understand at some point we all come to the conclusion that we say enemy and terrorist but they say freedom fighters.
Really! I was for so long time drill sergeant and for me and my comrades were all Boys till 18 years children. I was on so many missions in foreign countries but we were there to help the people not to robb their countries and kill their people. Who has the right to do that?!?The whole world knows that Saddam Hussein did nothing of that of what he was accused. The reason were the oilfields. Thousands of US-Soldiers got killed or crippled on their bodies and their souls because of the silly dreams of the highly criminal Bush administration. 911 was made by CIA. All people know about in the World but only a few in the USA.
I’m an ex British Army JTAC n I can say after event upon event & u see what they do to ppl who cross them PLUS the biggest thing is the country itself breeds killers to do their bidding so when something like this comes up n the guy was gonna die anyhoo, what do you expect??? Do jail a killer for doing his job, jup I agree there is a line but some ppl saying he did this n others saying he didn’t who where there u can’t convict in these circumstances
I get both sides. One side you need to stay a professional and an example for your men. He was a chief at the end of the day. On the other side, it’s a isis fighter… crazy how that medic took the fall in the end. Yea he got immunity but that’s for criminal charges. He would still get in trouble with the navy. But most likely his admission was probably a well planed tactic to get the chief out of the line of fire.
Just the fact these articles exist is how you know this is/ was a setup because I didn’t like him oh he ate my cookies from my care package he drank my Red Bull out of the fridge he yelled at me. Because real team members and servicemen of elite units would never tell on each other they would just say I don’t know I didn’t see it I didn’t hear it blah blah blah. Just like real mobsters and Street Gangsters they won’t even tell the police who shot them won’t even tell on their enemy.. so the fact all these guys come in here doing all this talking when these are Elite Navy Seals not some f**** dorky little teenager that got caught with some weed and now he wants to tell on everyone to get out of trouble.. total setup
War isn’t politically correct I’ve never been in war but I know not to judge a man that has been. He is a brave man who is the toughest of the tough he is an elite navy seal commander. His job is to kill the enemy and that’s what he did idc how he done it you don’t send our men to play a game with rules he was there to kill the enemy and that’s what he did. So either don’t send them or shut up and get over it.
