What Chevy Has Super Cruise?

Super Cruise is a hands-free driver assistance technology that is now available on more Chevy vehicles than ever before. It is included as standard on many new Chevy vehicles, available on many highways throughout North America. The device guides your vehicle automatically to maintain lane position and following distance, while allowing you to steer manually. This mode decreases the need for manual steering.

As of summer 2023, Chevrolet offers Super Cruise as an optional feature on higher trim levels of the newest Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, and Bolt EUV production models. The automaker is also prioritizing giving its electric vehicles Super Cruise technology, so owners of the Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and Silverado EV will have Super Cruise technology. Super Cruise pairs with the Technology Package, available on popular pickup trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado with the 6.2L V8 L87 gas engine or the 3.0L I6 LZ0 Duramax turbo diesel engine.

Super Cruise™† is the first true hands-free driving technology for compatible roads. It is a Level 2 autonomous driving system once only available on Cadillacs; on select geofenced roads, it allows for completely hands-free driving. These enhancements will be available on select model year 2022 Super Cruise enabled vehicles, including Cadillac Escalade4, Cadillac CT45, Cadillac CT56, Chevrolet Silverado7, GMC HUMMER EV Pickup8, and GMC Sierra9.

GM is excited to expand Super Cruise to even more new models with additional features and compatibility with compatible roads. The average eligible vehicle will update its Super Cruise, which is a driver assistance technology included as standard on many new Chevy vehicles. By the end of 2025, it will be available on 750,000 miles of road in the US and Canada.

What does supercruise cost?

You see, Super Cruise is not a permanent fixture in such-equipped GM models. The automaker currently offers the feature in Cadillac models on a three-year trial basis, after which customers must pay a fee of $25 per month to keep Super Cruise operative. Alternatively, customers can spend $15 each month and bundle the cost of Super Cruise with certain OnStar plans (Cadillac did not outline the specific plans that allow for bundling in an email it sent to us). The monthly fee covers the various map updates and GPS corrections required to keep the hands-free driving setup as safe and reliable as possible (it also allows the car to connect with an OnStar Emergency advisor in case a driver fails to respond to the system’s alerts).

For what it’s worth, Cadillac is offering owners of Super Cruise-equipped 2018 Cadillac CT6 sedans a complimentary fourth year of Super Cruise service. That said, o wners who opt out of the Super Cruise service will subsequently lose their vehicle’s hands-free driving functionality. Nevertheless, a Cadillac spokesperson assured us that these vehicles’ adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist features will remain operative with or without an active Super Cruise subscription.

Whether Super Cruise is a luxury worth paying for ultimately depends on individual customers. Those who regularly travel on Super Cruise-mapped roads will likely find the service’s costs worth it. Others, though, may decide to forfeit the feature once their Super Cruise trial expires, just as some choose to do with the likes of OnStar or SiriusXM satellite radio.

How much is a super Cruise Chevy?

A Super Cruise subscription is included for three years with the purchase of a new Silverado that has the system equipped, but after those three years, Super Cruise will cost users $25 per month for the remainder of the vehicle’s life.

Super Cruise mitigated a lot of my ever-present anxiety, and the camera feature for lane changes helped immensely, too. For experienced towers who take pride in the hairy-chested task of towing a trailer unassisted, Super Cruise might not have quite as much appeal, but I think it’s a great option for anyone who tows — especially for folks who are new to towing or get stressed out by the thought of pulling a trailer.

What is the highest speed in supercruise?

Other info. Maximum Supercruise speed (when not affected by stellar bodies) is 2,001c and takes 57 min to reach. Supercruised to another system. It would take 4h 22m 51s to travel 1 light year at maximum Supercruise speed.

Supercruise is a method of faster-than-light (FTL) travel within star systems. A ship that is in supercruise can use the Frame Shift Drive to travel at speeds between 29.9 kilometers-per-second to 2001c superluminal (faster-than-light) speeds. It allows a ship to cross entire systems in a relatively short amount of time.

Supercruise uses the ship’s Frame Shift Drive to compress space in front of the ship and expand it behind the ship, essentially moving space around that ship. This negates any time dilation, as the ship is always traveling less than the speed of light relative to its “frame” of compressed space.

In supercruise, speeds are typically measured in multiples of the speed of light, represented as c or in megameters per second, represented as Mm/s (1c = 300Mm/s). A ship that is traveling at 1c is therefore traveling at the speed of light. Speeds in supercruise are highly dependent on distances from large bodies of mass, and the maximum speed of 2001c is only possible at great distances from massive objects, requiring almost an hour of supercruise travel away of all stellar bodies.

What GMC has super cruises?

Super Cruise is available on the 2023 and 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali and Denali Ultimate, the most advanced and luxurious Sierra ever. With Super Cruise, drivers can travel hands-free on more than 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada.

It’s not just curves and travel speed that Super Cruise is capable of handling for the Sierra Denali and Denali Ultimate.

Drivers can also let Super Cruise do the work of changing lanes when traveling on a compatible road.

For example, if the vehicle is traveling on a divided freeway at a set speed of 65–70 mph and is behind someone traveling 60 mph, the system’s Automatic Lane Change when enabled will look for an opening once the following gap is shortened. If a suitable opening is detected, Super Cruise will automatically initiate the turn signal andchange lanes without the driver doing anything other than paying attention to the road.

The Super Cruise driver assistance technology uses Global Positioning System (GPS) sensing, GPS-enhanced data, a high-precision map and network of cameras to maintain automatic control of vehicle steering on compatible roads. The GPS uses real-time corrections and map data to determine the vehicle’s location while the Lane Sensing Camera detects the marked lanes on the road to help the vehicle automatically steer and maintain lane position.

The system works with Adaptive Cruise Control†, which is designed to detect vehicles traveling in the same direction in its path and accelerate or brake the vehicle to maintain a driver-selected following gap time from a detected vehicle ahead, even in stop-and-go traffic conditions.

When engaged, Super Cruise utilizes a Driver Attention System. It provides feedback on system status while tracking the driver’s head position and using alerts that prompt the driver to pay close attention to the road and steer manually when needed.

Does Honda have super cruise?

The Honda Sensing 360 suite will feature a Super Cruise-like semi-autonomous driving system known as Advanced In-Lane Driving with Hands-off Function. While the name leaves a lot to be desired, the system will keep the vehicle centered in its lane while also controlling acceleration, braking, and steering. The system also has an Advanced Lane Change with Hands-off Function, which enables drivers to automatically change lanes when the semi-autonomous driving system is activated.

Supercruise is sustained supersonic flight of a supersonic aircraft without using afterburner (also known as “reheat”). Many supersonic military aircraft are not capable of supercruise and can maintain Mach 1+ flight only in short bursts with afterburners. Aircraft such as the SR-71 Blackbird are designed to cruise at supersonic speed with afterburners enabled.

Some fighter jets are capable of supercruise but only at high altitudes and in a clean configuration, so the term may imply “a significant increase in effective combat speed with a full weapons load over existing types”. One of the pre-eminent military examples of supercruise is the F-22 Raptor, for which supercruise was defined as “the ability to cruise at speeds of one and a half times the speed of sound or greater without the use of afterburner for extended periods in combat configuration.”

One of the best-known examples of an aircraft capable of supercruise, and the only notable non-military example, was the Concorde. Due to its long service as a commercial airliner, Concorde holds the record for the most time spent supersonic; more than all other western aircraft combined.

Which Silverado comes with Super Cruise?

And on certain models—the 2021–present Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and GMC Yukon; and the 2022–present Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500—Super Cruise will even activate with a trailer in tow, all the way up to the specific vehicle’s load rating. Sensors in the brakes, accelerator, and suspension closely estimate the weight of the trailer and cargo on board, and the driver assistance suite compensates with appropriate following distances.

We should all be skeptical of new technology, especially that which promises hands-free driving with a trailer in tow. So I wanted to experience Super Cruise Trailering myself. Chevrolet set me up with a 22-foot enclosed trailer weighing about 3,500 pounds hitched to a loaded 2024 Silverado 1500 High Country, then put me on the legendarily traffic-snarled Interstate 105 near Los Angeles International Airport for 45 minutes. It would be an excellent real-world test consisting of freeway interchanges, stop-and-go traffic, and lane closures. TL;dr, the Silverado came through it without a single hiccup.

On The Road. Activating Super Cruise Trailering requires the same steps as any other version of the system. Once you’re on a stretch of road that’s been mapped with high-definition GPS and lidar, a gray steering wheel icon will appear on the instrument cluster. Press the Super Cruise button on the helm and that icon turns blue (along with a row of indicator LEDs on the wheel itself) while the system gets ready to take over. Once the icon and indicators turn green, the driver is free to remove their hands from the wheel and start cruising in a super sort of way.
